bummer. longacres came about after i left Seattle (and I wasn't really skating much when I lived there anyways) but I always admired from afar and hoped to skate it someday. never really heard of a municipality/agency trying to charge rent for a DIY, is there any precedent for that?

asking for back rent is a clever way of thwarting DIYs. we come to think of them as our property but if the owner wants it back, charging is incredibly effective. nobody has that kind of $ to spend a month and even if they did, it's great business. maybe enough people will support the skaters and bad PR will turn it around.
