A very successful New York trip. My really good friend were here at the same time without even planning it, so I was able to strike the perfect balance between solo skate trip and skating/hanging out with really awesome people. Didn’t get any clips, but i feel like I skated well enough and had so much fun doing it. Also, didn’t wake up hungover once, i paced myself really well. I get back home early tomorrow, and have 2 lowkey days of my super stressful job left, with a week break between jobs.

Side note: I’m almost 30 and i feel like I’m the best I’ve ever been in my life. The last few months I’ve been skating a ton and learned a lot of new tricks, and my body feels great.

Lots to be stoked on, lots to be grateful for.

Go skate day, and guys from my local are doing a meet up for all the skaters around the city. We will meet at one spot, and continue all around town doing little best trick contests for the kids. I will probably just cruise along and drink beers, since I was never a guy that enjoys any kind of competitions, but still, should be a great afternoon.

Spending most of my work day on Slap, browsing old Trasher issues and wikipedia articles while eating these everything bagel chips and drinking a Mello Yello, it's the simple things.

My band is on fire rn.

Unfortunately we're back to being a four piece. It's ok. It couldn't be helped.

I nailed every part even the solos at practice today. Bass and drums sound great. Our singer couldn't make it to practice. I sang almost everything. Ive never been this proficient at performing.

I now understand why people who lightly know me see the band are like DAMN KID! You didn't tell me that....

Up until SCÜMBARI hadn't sang and played guitar guitar in punk band since like 93. Only like 200 people in the world have seen me do it so I guess it's impressive when people are like thinking I just ride ablosrd and slam dance.

But yeah I guess our shit is getting kinda technical in the sense of punk rock and roll. We do cross like 4 genre lines

I think maybe more.

I we get comparison to Germs a lot. I like that. I love that band. There's more to SCÜMBARI tho.

I try to be like if Mike Ness and Johnny Thunders was in like
Conflict (uk) but they was part of late 80s scene in NYC so they have breakdown and stuff.

I'm into Cleveland bands too. Systems Overloaded!!!!

Slapshot is a massive one. Dys...

We kinda like have some Biohazard and a little Crumbsuckers in there.

Murphy's Law... Sheer Terror is a huge one.

Murder Junkies a little bit.

There's a bunch of trash elements in my Rick and roll. They are just hard to identify.

Thrash was just as important to me as punk when I first picked up the guitar. Early Death metal. Proto Grind....

You gotta know where to look.

The only shit we avoid is the power violence thing. I have pulled a ton of my noisecore techniques because that was my primary focus for the last 10-15 .

Germs is an ok comparison for like a few songs. There's just a lot lot more to it.

Band is on fire and now I'm stoned AF playing Trek to Yomi.

Life is good. I just need a couple of more things in my life shit would be perfect.

pretty stoked on skating right now. buddy came back from college last week and he's been forcing me to come out with him. i'm not great at the craft, but the last couple days have been super fun just pushing around and ollying over/on shit with my dawg. summer nights are the best.

also stoked on chess lol. been playing consistently and i'm finally getting better. shit's hard, but gotta try and use my brain somehow now that i'm fresh outta school.

hoping to get back into hoops too. it's a hobby boy summer!

Starting to give up control at my working establishment, accepting that the outcome isn't dependent on me and that it's not my responsibility to prop other people up, it was a huge bourdon weighing me down and it's finally starting to be lifted.

Very glad to hear that my man! You can be proud of yourself for coming to that conclusion.

Getting stoked to try more shoreline fishing around me. Up north I can join my dad on a boat and share all his gear but in the cities I've only got some bare essentials but actually been having some luck lately on shorelines.  And if bass aren't biting it's still fun to break out the fly rod and bring in sunnies

It’s such a grand sight. My boy is walking, running, talking & is now running to hug me. He also started playing with the wrestlers I gave him (some original LJN Bendables) & got him a Cody Rhodes to play with & he’s so into it. Now we play together with them & it rules. It’s wild as my son makes me love again as I sort of shut that switch off some years back. Stoked on this, continuing to save money & work with kids in therapy as while I go through my own therapy, I free up a ton of mental space & have more capacity for the kiddos I work with. Very fortunate. This has also caused me to appreciate myself & what I have more. Also stoked on being assertive & honest as I’ve always struggled with that. I can truly look in the mirror.

Its been a hard few months to find things to be stoked on but I was talking with my Sister who is currently on vacation in Philly and jokingly told her to check out nocturnal for me. She ended up going and buying me a shop tee and hat for my 30th birthday since thats coming up.

It also gave me an admittedly corny laugh but she got me a large since mediums were out of stock and all I could think was “If im rocking a shirt from Philly I want it to be baggy as fuck”

I’m moving next week and have to downsize a lot. so I took an objective look at everything I had, leaving out sentimental value, and got rid of a ton of shit that I’ve held on to for a long time- old skate videos, books, clothes, shoes, furniture i don’t actually need.
