Who do you think you look most like on your skateboard?
For myself, the first one that comes to mind is Dan Pensyl. I'm not as short or buff as him, but I'm a little stocky and think we crouch before tricks and land tricks similarly.

Someone once told me I have the potential to skate like JB Gillet but I didn't think much of it. Maybe it's because I'm tall and have a sorta stiff style.

A couple of years ago I was watching that video of Julien Stranger skating Wallenberg and my friend at the time didn't know who Julien or Antihero was (He was an Rodney vs Daewon lovechild :/ ) walked up and watched it with me. When it was finished he told me "Hey you kinda skate like that dude" My 16 year old dickies and old skools self was like "OMG no but thanks :)"

Once, a guy who was a huge Rusczyk fan told me that I skated like him. I was pretty stoked on that. But I always thought I look like a vert skater skating street (vertosis), because I was unfortunate enough to grow up in a small midwestern town that didn't have any ramps.

I've gotten compared to Jimmy Cao the most by friends and randoms, but I think that's more just from me being an Asian regular footer than actually skating like him.

The "how inflated is your ego?" thread.
I can appreciate these sentiments. This thread is definitely a forum for ego checking or ego inflation. It's the observer in me that likes seeing whether people choose to deprecate, gloat, or just be honest. I think I started the thread with a pretty honest answer (and no one's going crazy over Dan Pensyl's style anyway). It's been interesting to see the responses from there forward.

Recognizing some similarities between your own style and someone else's isn't being pretentious. I don't think anyone in here is saying they're as good as the people they're comparing themselves to, it's just noticing little nuances n whatnot
