This is (weirdly) based of Kiss’s use of that stylized SS which always gets a pass for whatever reason. Mystery was the name of the Kiss tribute band in DRC.

Look, our pitchforks are sharpened, if we're gunna let JJ get away with it, we have to at least acknowledge that chief is also kind obsessed with this type of imagery and is at least somewhat influenced by it when coming up with brands/ logos

mystery skateboards were(are?) actually banned in germany because the sig rune is considered anti-constitutional propaganda. stuff like slayer merchandise was modified for the longest time, lately you can apparently buy slayer merch with the sig rune here.
personally i don't think lopez is a racist, even though they should have known they might get legal problems in germany because of the rune. interestingly, i think they never started selling it again in germany. guess jamie thomas was over it after there was already a lawsuit about zero that made it so you couldnt buy a shirt in germany that said zero skateboards. they had only the skull on them.
the rune may have been a failed attempt at incorporating a symbol into their logo they thought is tough and occult. maybe it did cross their mind that it could be offensive, well it should have tbh, probably were lost on the VERY STRONG racist connotation because i guess you don't get taught in school/they are the dumb kind of skaters, what do i expect, is all i can guess. kind of weird that they went with a norse/germanic letter tho, i would have expected mystery to be more like some kind of latin american gothic thing, but whatever. is mystery even still around...
also there is a difference between having an unfortunately designed logo or named drink(shawn white's white power energy drink comes to mind...) and saying shit that's racist to varying degrees for decades, posing with white power bands, wearing nazi and racist militia emblems, referring to people of other races mainly in slurs, and so on.

Wasn't Mystery designed for Mumford, and was only made Lopez's company after Mumford bounced.
Also, didn't Legacy use something similar to the Roman eagle as their logo? It looks damn close to the SRP Flag.

I’ve already fuckin explained Mystery and its heart logo were a KISS cover band in the movie Detroit Rock City so of course there’s no racist intent...except Edward Furlong was in DRC and then he played a skinhead in American History X...gasp
Interestingly, this how KiSS alters its logo for Germany. Their original intent was S’s as lightning bolts. I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt since at least Gene is Jewish

The s rune is old as dirt and signifies the worship of the sun and the bounty that it brings; i.e., life. It precedes the nation-state so therefore cannot be attached to any modern conception of nation-state identity formation.

i remeber that i bought a mystery shirt and a cap in maybe 2004, and i wore both to this family thing and all the older people there were kinda irritated why i would wear that, i was 12 and didn't really know shit ...
also when did that zero lawsuit happen ? the only thing that i remember is that there was some controversy about that zero - school sucks gear

Ace Frehley isn't Jewish, and he is credited with designing concept for the logo when it comes to the thunderbolts. Stanley just drew it better.
