thrasher. i need an emulator for that shit.i havn't played it in 6 or 7 years. skate looks just as lame as any newer generation tony hawk.
-
Thrasher for sure. I still have my copy and play it on my PS2. I am looking forward to EA's SKATE, it has a sick line up of skaters if nothing else.
-
thps2x.
-
1st and 2nd thps for nostalgia sake
-
THPS 2 and the arcade one.
even though the arcade one could own your ass.
-
haha I completely forgot about Simpsons Skateboarding
That was fun to mess around with on a rainy day.
-
Thrasher was the best. Tricks actually looked kind of cool, and you got kicked out of spots. I think I still have it somewhere but no playstation.
-
Thrasher was very real
-
I'm glad to see the arcade game that had the board you stand on and pop the tail to do tricks is gaining steam.

Top Skater.

Skate or die

that etnies game on the interwebs

skate will be

for some reason I just loved the first underground, flip tricks were all worked out, good shit to skate, good levels.
-
Yeah, underground was up there for sure. I still like tony 4 the best. I could go skate San Fran all day in that game and never get bored.
Did anybody ever play the x-games one? I remember seeing an ad for it in an old Transworld, and thought it looked okay.
-
Thrasher was unbelievably sick.Converse,Forties,Dvs when they were more ghetto and with a better team,Venice,Washington park in NY and all the other NY spots,SF had Embarco, china banks and a sick downhill level, all the super sick old school music, the sick characters like roach the tech skater and my favourite dude with the hood,I forgot his name. The levels were all soo on point, the pushing was sick, all the tricks looked good and you could actually do bs and fs flips, nollie and fakie aswell.best game ever. You could actually have a real game of skate with 2 player aswell.i bought a ps1 and a copy of thrasher again cause i love it.grind session was pretty rad aswell, the skater line up was good, templeton etc and the levels were pretty rad aswell, good physics too.
-
The Xgames one was pretty shit i thought, then there was a evolution one which was weird had lame levels and stuff but you could put stickers on your board and it had Appleyard and some other pretty cool fools in it.Physics and tricks were good though.
-
T&C Surf and Skate, no doubt... 'cause you could skate, then you could get to know your roots by hitting some waves, brah.
Plus, Town & Country was way core.
-
in all seriousness, if i want to get a skating like experience on a video game I play GTA:SA and use either the motorbike or the bmx
you have to find spots and make up your own tricks. i've hit street gaps to back lips on the tops of buildings with the motorbike coming off stairwells and got a 360 over a freeway on ramp into the freeway gap i found on the bmx. it's not like the skate games where everything is done for you and the spots are overly intentional. bunnyhop manuals on walls are fun, all kinds of fun shit to do in that game that to me feels a lot more like what I do on a skateboard than any skate game out to date.
but skate will change that. the controls on that game are sick and i have a feeling that having to practice tricks before you can do them will make all the difference in the world when it comes to feeling like actual skating, more so that smooth physics or likable pros characters would.

i don't know. the video i've seen suggests otherwise. the controls might be cool and all, but the physics still look just like THPS 2 in those intros on the epicly laterd shows. don't get me wrong, i love THPS 2, but for all the hype this is getting it makes me wonder.

just the fact that you use both joysticks to control the feet seems like a huge step in the right direction.
for one thing, switch might actually become a real game play element. you'd have to learn your tricks both ways and you could have a weaker way which would be switch for you. i'm imagining that a treflip would probably be something like a 360 pile driver in street fighter, which would be really hard to get on lock with both thumbs, not to mention that it's just hard to do (like it should be).

I think your hopes are too high for this game. From everything I've seen, the next tony hawk is looking better.

one of the best things about thrasher is that you could beat the levels doing real tricks. not 720 kickflip indy revert to manual to noseblunt around the fountain 7 times nollie tre out
-
Thrasher.
-
Thrasher of course.
Ive e-mailed Rockstar games to try a mix of a GTA City w/ Skateboarding. Replied only saying "thanks, but we are to busy planning for the future."
-
Skate or Die, T&C, and 720. In that order.

Demo comes out Tuesday morning for the 360, if you have one.
I never had the chance to buy Thrasher, but I do remember playing the shit out of the demo when I was younger. It was definitely hard to do shit. I think Skate will top it.

apparently the quickest you could skate from one end of town to the other would be about 10 minutes if you don't fall or get lost and apparently the game developers get lost in the city pretty frequently because it's so big.

i had my doubts about the game being unrealistic, but after watching those videos im impressed. how can they seriously cram that much shit into a videogame?
-
i think it's tight how to do grind and slide tricks there's not button required and the way you do it is by timing your ollie right then rotating your body so that your board is where it needs to be when you hit the rail. huge step up over all other games right there.
-

You can make online skate videos with the DEMO? Cripes, kiss my social life goodbye. Luckily for us, the word from the official forums is that the expected delay should not last more than a week.

Fuck thats gonna be crazy to see, hopefully a PS3 demo will come out soon

yeah and I guess the difference between a backlip and back nose blunt would be based on how fast your going, how close to the rail you ollie and how hard you pop. seems to me like it would be more fun than just ollie and push a button to actually have to think about your setup and actually have to try something a few times before you can do it.

I dont know man, I'm not really that stoked on this game. Hopefully i'm wrong.
-
Im downloading the demo for skate right now. Ill let you know how it is

went over to my friends and played it. its so good. its kinda like a updated thrasher. its actually hard to play and get used to. physics are a bit weird in replays and other angles, but its fine in the actual game play. Sleazy, you probably wont be disapointed
-
Thrasher:skate and destroy was fun but I think this new game SKATE will be very good.
-
well this seals it. i'm gonna get a 360. skate, bioshock and halo 3. sold.

Just got done downloading and playing the demo on my 360, and I am going to have to agree- best skateboarding game yet. Challenging but rewarding, and definitely a lot more realistic the THPS. It's pretty sick, really fun.

Really? The preview looks like Mike Carroll's doing nollie flips 7 feet off the ground, and the levels look like THPS1.

I was not really referring to how the tricks looked, (although, judging by the demo I didn’t think they looked too unrealistic) but more to the game play. It is challenging just to pull of flip tricks at first, let alone a flip trick to manual to flip trick out. You sure as hell aren’t going to be pulling off any ridiculous 50 trick lines like in THPS. The challenge makes it feel more realistic, like real skating is challenging.
The only complaint I have so far is that it is actually difficult sometimes to slam, like you can do a kickflip at speed, land primo, and just walk off without a slam.
Sometimes you land things sketchy which is pretty cool.

Yea I just asked my bro, he works at blockbuster... apparently we've had this bioshock game at the house for like a week. haha. I'll have to check it out tonight maybe..

Its pretty fun. I also recommend checking out Stranglehold..its a continuation of the movie Hard Boiled
-
i think the voice is reda....

I bought Bioshock for PC yesterday. It is really good.
-
I played Skate over and over for hours tonight at a friends place. The game is so damn challenging that it makes it addictive. I think my favorite part is that you can actually see yourself getting better. The lack of a grind button seemed weird at first, but the more you get used to it, you figure out where to put your weight and how to lock in to each trick.
Manuals, by far, were the hardest for me, which just made it feel so much more realistic. You actually have to work for your tricks as well. It took me a good five minutes to figure out kickflip backtails, then another few for 270 out, bigspin out, etc.
-
Has anybody figured out how to 360 flip? inward heel etc?
-
games are so fun but such a waste of time. For all those hours I spent I've gained nothing. Take the system away and I'm just moving my thumbs all around like an idiot.
Aint hating on yall though. If you're a kid it's natural to be lured into the video game trap.
-

I’ve got tre flips down. Inward heels and hard flips have been giving me a hard time though. Here you go:

You could say the same thing about being on here, about typing on a computer. Sure, there are better ways to spend your time, but there are a lot worse ways as well. I think that it is just like a lot of other things in life- moderation is the key.

Hey, I'm getting a full finger workout here and am pushing over 40 a minute. Six months ago my fingers pecked and was pushing like 8 wpm and had to look at the keyboard.
Moderation with videogames? I think not.
