Why are people posting all kinds of personal shit on these things?
You post more depressing personal shit than anyone here
I think he talks about instagram. I think the same about people posting pictures of dead friends after a picture of their last burrito.
The appropriation of the social environment requires the construction/use of material or symbolic artefacts (in our example instagram). These artefacts that we will call mediators that can be associated with social schemes (what is right or wrong to post on social medias). Those schemes are really different from one social circle to another. What is normal for somebody to post, is shocking or cringe to another.
I suggest you to read Vygotsky, Leontiev or Engestrm if you want to learn more about those topics.
What a suprise that the regular rollerblader is the only one who did not get the point.
My point exactly, Turtle. On Slap nobody knows, or cares, who the depressed ex-junkie, now depressed corporate whore is. Nobody gives a shit. On IG, FB and other bullshit, you are pretty much a digital reflection of yourself. Hence, my question.
Also, when you post selfies that you spent 90 minutes working on, people who actually met you think "Eh, that's not how your busted face looks".
