This is from 1998, toe looks more pointy

That's how I remember them. I had those a lot between 2004 and 2008. Were those the same during that time?

Nope, the shape got worse around 2005-2006. Same thing happened to Kostons.

Is it also possible different colourways just for differently or like dunks they just look different on different people?

I remember trying on a pair in early 00s and they were insanely big even by that times standards. Pretty sure I picked a pair of Rodney mullen 4s instead

There was definitely an Accel revamp sometime between the release in the pics and the early 2000s but they somehow managed to make it even worse.

It’s so weird how Emerica design was completely decimated by the most recent "everything vulc" era (which was now a long time ago) and never managed to climb back out. Like holy shit even Vox and Dekline designs were more interesting than what you see on the Emerica site for the last decade plus.

The total lack of durability was interesting, too.

I like that spanly high, wonder what the sole will feel like if it isnt the G6
Not as great but hopefully decent.

They did have that period of time where they were making a few cupsole shoes, like the Westgate and Reynolds G6s, that were ahead of their time and before cupsoles became popular again. I think that if those shoes were released a little bit later, Emerica might be in a little bit better of a spot now.

I remember in 2005 when the PJ Ladd Accel Boston colorway came into our shop and half the toes were pointy, and half were the snubby round ones. Even on the same size pair lol. This all started when they came out with those shitty STI insoles the crumbled after a week.

Agreed. It was amazing for me because that was right around the time that I realized I really only liked cupsoles and so I was in heaven because for the longest time, ti was near impossible to find worthwhile cupsoles. Usually the sole was meh but upper looked ok or the upper was awful but the sole was good (never greart - just good). But I was in the minority there.

If they even delayed that big relaunch even by like a year, year and a half I feel it would have been different. I say that because it felt like they fairly quickly after released the Herman G6 as a vulc, the Westgate CC as a more simplified version of the runner toe G6, and the Reynolds Low (as a more simplified reynolds high) and then the vulc version of the Reynolds G6 low.

EDIT: I just remembered too that it was mentioned here apparently, the factory had a major QC issue for the most pre-booked color of the first Herman G6 release. If I remember correctly, the samples and versions Herman / the team / reps had were great, but when it went to full production, the different parts of the sole of the first run in whatever basic color didn't set right and came apart. Other colors weren't really impacted and it got fixed fast, but when the hole campaign is how technical the sole is and how intricate and thoughtout the Herman G6 sole is so you see all the parts, that saps all confidence.

These were my first accels. They were so cool.

Anyway it’s fun to see how like a 3 year difference completely changes a persons nostalgic frame of reference

I'm pretty sure they're planning to re-do the Accel OG and make it more like the original.

yea for me the puffy ass accels are what I have nostalgia for and what I understand an accel to be. I think I got my first pair in 06.
that said,  I think the earlier version would probably sell better at the moment.

I heard on a review video by a shop that besides the Templetons, we might also get the Jaime Thomas Emericas. Is that true? Also, those in the know, what colorways of the Templeton are coming out, so far I only saw a picture of a navy/white colorway.

well his shoe ended up being the phocus but their modern interpretation of it (that lasted what, one season?) looks nothing like the OG...

a few years ago, there was an emerica catalog that had a very 1:1 slightly modernized reissue of the JT emerica shoe but then it never came out (and it wasn't the phocus). I would love an accurate reissue of the JT. The reason I prefer the templeton 2 over the 1 is because at the time the 1 was out, i was skating the JTs instead.

whats the shoe called?
[close]

it was supposed to be called the centry but was never released. not a 100% true to the og reissue, it was a little slimmer (although had they made it a "1:1" it would be puffier than the og for sure, that's what they usually do at sole tech)

i'm not 100% sure about that but i think it was JT who deaded em and they switched it up a little and released it as the dissent. again i might have made that up or something but it's jamie so i believe myself

this is the dissent for reference, decent looking shoe if you ask me, wonder why they stopped making it

nah i know why, it didn't sell, but i don't believe that The Low Vulc sells or any of their shoes for that matter

Wish they released that top shoe. Looks like a good functional skate shoe. Not too bare, not too tech or puffy.

Those were the second legit pair of skate shoes I got from an actual shop.

Giant shoe wall days.

Good times with grandma.

JT always had great skate shoes: Adio, C1RCA, Fallen.

(Let’s pretend Straye never happened)

I’m looking forward to see his next shoe company he’s secretly working on.
I’m not letting my YouTube algorithm anywhere near that video.
