Not hating, but it crossed my mind. Can't remember where I've seen it. maybe gx? It's dangerous enough: something that seems unnecessary in a way, like it's a bit of death-wish antic. But then again, it's extra sketchy and amazing when some one makes it all the way through.
-
Fuck it why not. The whole idea of bombing is to go fast, why not go faster? To me its not the same as adding stairs or flips.
-
nothing will top sean young in the antihero video.
-
Depends on if you have a good push..
And what about you push before the hill to get the speed you need?
But for me it's what evs...
Gonz did it and it was cool
This poll is missing Fred Gall
-
you haven't lived until you've hit one footed speed wobbles

no.

If you'd ever done it you would never have posted this stupid thread.

Do you even skate?
-
some hills, if you push on them it actually slows you down. after a certain speed it acts like a foot drag but looks macho. i'll do it at the top of a mellow hill to beat traffic or whatever.
-
I'm fucking convinced some of you do not skateboard. You banter like fan-nerds at a comic-con.
-
at the top of a hill sure, at speed going down it? fuck no! that's dangerous
-
didn't vote, no fred gall!
also fuck the word jockish!
what made you want to question it to jockish? fair enough if you questioned it to be gnarly or stupid or something of the like, but jockish..fuck that
-
Push it to the limit... that's what people are going for. Adrenaline.
Personally I never want to the reach the point on my skateboard again where I'm going too fast to powerslide and my only options are straight line until I slow down, jump off and face the consequences, or smash into something that crosses my path.
I think Frank Gerwers slide out method remains the best option when you hit maximum velocity. There's a reason why downhillers rock those gloves with the pucks on them.
-
Needs to be a pushing full force downhill in the rain choice
-
The whole idea of trying and putting in any effort into anything is jockish.
-
Pushing UP a hill might be jockish. Especially if it's in the snow.
-
The internet is pushing downhill with everything needing to have a dichotomy.
-

Slap should definitely have a convention one day. Set up some curbs and a Fred Gall kissing booth and the whole board will come.
It’ll be a step below dashcon
-
Fred Gall.
-
Whoever made this is a fucking idiot who jusy embarassed themself. Pushing downhill is fucking awesome. If pushing down a big hill is jockish, then just skating a big hill is jockish in the first place.
Pushing down is “I want to go fast, this will help me go even faster” and I 100% back it.
Also, on a personal level, bombing a hill with a light, seeing that countdown on the “walk” sign getting low and pushing to make sure you make it instead of slowing down is one of the funnest things ever.
I want to know who the 6 flatland living losers who vited yes are, so they can immediately be banned
Edit: when i went back to kook you for being such a kook, I saw you say you don’t remember where you saw it. Yeah, antihero guys did it, but the gx guy known for it is Pablo Ramirez, and he is a straight up maniac.
-
This might be the dumbest thread in the history of Slap
-
Fred Gall is the right answer always and I bet that the guy who made this thread never in his life bomb a hill in his life

Your English is bad.
Your opinions are good.

Look at all the athletes in this thread. Gotta get downhilling in the Olympics, bro. Win at all costs. USA, USA, USA, USA!

Generally this is a valid concern, but when it comes to pushing through a hill bomb, somebody could be doing feathery, quick “tap dancing kitten” Leo Romero style mongo pushes and I’d still get hyped.
-
Hills are like an escalator for me. I just enjoy the ride.
-
I could actually see where OP is coming from, it could maybe be seen as show-offish, but in the case of both sean young and the GX guys they are just trying to go as fast as possible for adrenaline.

I'm with you. If you take this thread literally it is, but jockish just seems like a substitute word. I don't know what you would call it though, more like crazy than jockish. Take that famous Grewer clip for example in SF where he drops in off some some wall, bombs the hill, then powerslides on his ass for like 1/2 a block and slides under a car. So he was supposed to push down the hill? Don't think so. Sorry that sounds so cringy...but I do get what everyone is saying for pushing on a hill....but I don't know about a hill "bomb". I don't think that's been done, almost seems as unnatural as pushing doing the loop. Or the Nuge world record hill bomb in LA, he could have pushed?

Jockish is a terrible word.
if anything it would be Street league and that shit that is jockish, pushing down a hill is just straight gnar/sillyness on equal measure.
-
Just want to remind everybody that nobody claiming pushing down hills is jockish actually skates hills and is looking for an excuse why doing raw shit they’ll never try isn’t cool. Its VERY TRANSPARENT, kooks.

Yup, you don’t win anything, you don’t get points, its not sports related at all. Bowl skating, rail skating, stair skating, ledge skating all could be just training for street league or the vans bowl series. There’s no downhill shortboard league.
And all the people saying its “show offy,” welcome to skateboarding, where every kid who has ever kickflipped a set of stairs has posted it on the internet.
If you are going to call out somebody for being a show off:
call out all of instagram,
call out anybody who does a fliptrick down stairs instead of just ollieing it, as a flip trick is show offy, all he had to do was ollie
Call out anybody who does a 5-0 instead of a 5050, since balancing on that one truck is show offy
Call out any fucking manual, them shits are just impractical...why roll on two wheels when you can roll on four?
Skateboarding as all about being a show off, why do you kooks suddenly think its an issue when its pushing down a hill, which actually has a practical purpose?
Look back to the top of my response for the answer, kooks.

Shut the fuck up gipper
-
Only core if you don’t push up-hill. All these up-river down-hillers with their bravado up the whazoo.
-
Shut the fuck up gipper
But your entire account is made specifically to be obsessed with me...then what would you do?
-
Only if you get tackled.
Seriously though, Lee Yankou

I push on ramps.....
-
Fellas: is it gay to land your tricks? I mean, you’re jumping and then landing on a deck, just saying. You know what, this should be a separate thread, hang on lemme make a poll
-
I push on ramps.....
I push uphill...
-
landing fakie is racist
-
I push uphill...
I don’t. If I’m on even a mild uphill I snap that board right up in my hand and walk.

Alright, guys! Good D. Good D (discussion). I made this poll out of fun, mostly. To me, it depends on the steepness of the hill: if it's way steep and you're pushing on the flat before it, or during the first quarter of the hill (or even at the bottom) -- you're possibly kookin' in. Jockish/showy-offish has similarly defined qualities to me, however I'll reserve my personal opinions.
I probably should have gotten rid of the safe option in the poll, being that it looks closely split, but whatev's. & for those wondering, Chet Childress is more of my Fred Gall than Gall himself, sooo...
It's official:
WE AS A SKATEBOARD COMMUNITY ELECT TO RECOGNIZE THE ISSUE OF PUSHING vs NON-PUSHING, A NON-FACTOR IN THE ACCEPTABILITY STANDARDS of DOWNHILL SKATEBOARDING.
Be free to rip as you see fit, my brothas! Just be careful out there.
