The Heroin and Guy are the first 2 shaped boards I've ever had. I mean, I got my first board in 83 or 84. And I've never taken any breaks; except for being hurt. So I've skated shaped boards. But only because that is what a skateboard was at that time. Since 94 or whenever, it's been nothing but popsicles. Well, I have a zip zinger. But that doesn't really count. To be honest, I've kind of looked down on shaped boards. I'll see a clip or something and think, that was a rad trick, but that ugly shaped board takes something away from it. Even seeing someone ride rails kind of bums me out. It's a silly attitude to have. But I'm just being truthful. Now, as an oldie I'm coming full circle. Becoming the kook I once derided. I'm actually really excited to get these set up.
Once I strip the black paint off the hanger, I'm going to set up the 159s on the Heroin board with the 58mm fulls. It's always been a goal of mine to learn how to skate Washington Street and hopefully this is the set up that will get me over the loveseat.
Then I'm thinking about getting some Thunders or Ventures and probably a 50mm classic for the Guy.
Will these things actually get skated? Or just take up space in the trunk of my car? Only time will tell.
