Title: IGN Interview with John Rattray (EA Skate)
Post by: HenryChinaski on September 02, 2007, 09:12:08 PM
Videogame website IGN.com has an interview up with John Rattray concerning EA’s new “Skate” game:

Interviews with skateboarders conducted by people who know next to nothing about skating are always humorous in a second hand embarrassment kind of way.  ::) Of course Jake Brown comes up.

they definitely got the right guy to talk to in rattray. nice, articulate, smart guy. imagine the shirt storm it wouldve been if they interviewed TK? or if they iterviewed Gonz and he compared skating to DW-40 or something?

It is kind of weird. I wonder if pro football players feel that way about people playing Madden?
At least it helps people to understand it a little better I guess. I have definitely noticed a trend of the general public being more accepting of skateboarding since the Tony Hawk games came out.
Hey, if it makes people think twice about trying to kick a skater out of a spot or makes them not want to scream insults and hurl bottles out of moving cars at skaters like idiots used to do when I was a kid then I am all for it.

From the way that interview rolled i think John must have know the guy, he's normally a lot more "guarded" in interviews, it was still sick to read, it's good he's getting more coverage now - stoked for him

this looks like it will be a fun rental when winter comes around, but nothing more. based on the game play footage it looks like it will be disappointing. hype kills.

hey atleast those promo videos they released were pretty fun to watch. i can't even count how many times i checked out the busenitz one.

You know what they say about opinions, but you could not be more wrong. This is the best, most realistic, fun and addicting skateboarding game ever made. I have been playing the demo more then any of my regular games, just the demo is more fun then most games. If you actually played the demo you would think differently, it plays so much better and more realistically then those game play videos let on. Believe me, it lives up to the hype, this game is sick.

The gonz comparing skateboarding to dw-40.....i could really picture him saying that and people(who know nothing of skatbeoarding) thinking like wow this guy must do crack or something.
