if you haven't understood already and moved on from the fact that BA is most definitely a gay guy than your an idiot. not like anyone cares because it doesn't change a thing, dude kills it. especially when hes lurkin around delores park late at night or casually ripping potrero

my best friend who i grew up skating with who's currently married to man feels differently about this. it matters a lot to him as he'd like to see a well respected pro who is out of the closet. i'm not suggesting that BA has some obligation here but to say it doesn't matter only considers the homophobic part of the equation and understates the bigger picture of what it would mean for other gay skaters.
very true.
however, if i was a legendary pro who has gone out of my way to let my best skating define my public image and not get caught up in any of the "issues du jour" for well over 10 yrs+, i'd be pretty apprehensive about being the first one to come out. not because of fear, but because of the reality that, no matter what you've achieved over the course of your life in skateboarding, you will be defined by your sexuality (whether in a good or bad context) for the rest of your days.
half the people praising your sacrifice and courage and the other half dissing you repeatedly with slurs (both suck). nevermind the fact that it takes more courage and sacrifice to do half the shit that he's done in his video parts than it does to just love a person. having gone this long without making it an issue (plus the fact that anyone who knows him well probably knows the truth, barring family) i'd see absolutely no reason other than martyr-hood for volunteering that kind of info.
