I mourn Biggie everytime I listen to his albums.  I just started listening to Tupac's stuff last year.  I can appreciate some of it, but he doesn't hold a candle to B.I.G.

Tupacs like the only real gangsta everyone else are mostley wannabe gangstas, but i think he is the only true gangsta and Biggie u gotta love him. i cant choose between them coz i love them both, but Biggie kinda goes better on a skate video the a tupac song.

Just found this thread and was surprised by the result!

Pac was a real dude and was much more diverse than biggie. Biggie was nice but I always looked at him as a bad King Tee version!

Pointless to compare the masters of mid 90's hip-hop. Hate it or love it, they ruled it for a good 3 or 4 years.

I love them both. I only wish Biggie had the work ethic of Tupac. But... after just ONE album, the world loved him. That's just incredible there. Tupac really shined after his death, although I say Me Against The World is his best album. I cannot deny the ridiculous work ethic of Tupac. 10 years later, and there is still about 100 unheards in the vault. Not leaked at all. If they made albums of all the stuff that has leaked [that hasn't hit postmuthous albums yet], he could still have material for another 5 years. Then hit the unheards. It's just ridiculous. Both legacy's are getting completely ruined though. Duets? Fuck outta here with that shit. Loyal To The Game? Pac's Life? Stop remixing pac and big's work and putting fuckers like Young Buck and Chamillionaire on the tracks! Leave 'em be!

R.I.P. to both.

100% truth right here.

'Pac, cause he lived the lifestyle he sang about.  A lot of Biggie's stuff was just fantasy.  But still, they are BOTH amazing:

Pac because he doesn't sound like he is about to hyperventilate from being too fat when he raps.

pac was a better poet, by far.

most if biggies shit was smoother, but in all honestly, i think it had a lot to do with the beats he was spitting over.

I think what made tupac so good though is that he might have been legitimately crazy, like schizophrenic or something similar. Dude always looked so crazy and paranoid, his rhymes were the same way. like a black 1%er tweaking from the meth

Biggie by far. Pac was kind of a terrible rapper - always helf-yelling and shit. His influence has a lot to answer for.
And I'm not mad @ Biggie's output - quality control is important, but Pac and (mainly) Suge didn't give a shit.
just milk the weird cult of personality surronding Pac for all it's worth.

I do appreciate that Pac was more real, more three-dimensional with his personality than most rappers.
Most dudes come off terribly when they rap about anything but money, coke, or how nice they are,
but Pac seemed like an actual human being. Too bad he couldn't rap.

When it comes down to it, Ghostface is the only rapper I've heard who can be "emotional" yet is still undeniably dope.
