When your main inspiration are Target graphic shirts from 2010. Oh, and spitfire.

The first boards were honestly kind of sick. Americana, Little rascals, sandlot, badnews bears, nostalgia. That would have been a sick direction. I think it would have worked for well for american boy Sheckler. But nah, lets quit Plan B to do Plan B at home.

Dang, i was really chomping at the bit to get one of Ryan Shecklers new pro models from his self owned board brand. These graphics are definitely the ONLY reason why i wouldnt get one. I'm devastated......

you know, these actually arent horrible.
-
That Ed Hardy looking tiger one is absolutely atrocious.
-
I’m gonna give him the benefit of the doubt and assume this is an ironic millennial thing. Great job Ryan.
-
The dog chase one isn't bad at all.
-
isn't that spiral a spitfire graphic? Having skateboarding as a skateboard graphic is weak

They kinda remind me of the early Politic boards.

The spitfire swirl is fucking embarassing
-
OK, I THINK the tiger is supposed to be wearing some kind of samurai-esque helmet, but for the longest time I kept thinking "Why is that tiger wearing a cowboy hat?"
-
First boards were kinda cool surprisingly.
These, however :

Joe Exotic guest pro model.

New graphics are sick. definitely narrative changing
-
These just look like all the lazy and generic tattoos you see everyone has full sleeves of now.
I just wish I was back in 2001, riding blank minilogos.

Sheckle me not.

Truly insane you use one of the most recognized logos in skateboarding on an unrelated skateboard product in this way. I would think Spitfire would be within their rights to take legal action here.
-
fucking awful
-
these graphics probably work in a department store or sports good store setting. Don't think shecks is aiming for some trendy deck brand.
For the record I think the first two graphics on woodgrain look better, a little bit. Still not something that jumps out at me. An 8-10 year old probably digs the lion or swirls though. I know what I think my kid would like
-
that logo

Left to start another plan b?

who starts a brand with himself as the only pro ?
how sad ?

fucking awful
...now those are some skate company rip-off graphics with potential: Fuckin Awful and HOKEY

Ryan Shelcker, world renowed narrative changer.
-
About 15 years too late on this one
-
that logo
Pretty much this. It doesn't matter what direction they will take when it comes to graphics – add the logo to the graphic and it will suck.
I also think the first few graphics potentially hinted at an art direction that could bring something new to the table, a certain feeling that a lot of the either blandly illustrated or pseudo artsy graphic series of a lot of companies are missing these days, but the logo still fully ruined the decks.

It is insane to use that.
Don’t believe the swirl is a Spitfire original. There is a techno 12” center label from 1995 with it. When did Spitfire first use it? Would love to know.

Completely insane for skateboard graphics to rip off another brand. Complete blasphemy. I guess there’s a first for everything though.

there's some spitfires with the swirl in this catalog (1991), but i think they've been using that graphic before that. the spitfire shirt with the number 1 that guy wore in video days also has little swirls on it, and the shirts with the swirl on the back are called "classic 87 swirl", that leads me to the conclusion that they've been using it since 1987.

Good to know, thanks for the link too. I’ve always thought the swirl predated Spitfire and was appropriated from something but not sure. Either way, love that design.

I actually dont hate the graphics, way better than any plan B bullshit graphic they copy n paste 8 times for the whole team. I hate plan b graphics

The Swirl stuff is taken from Op Art of the 60's. I actually passed up a book at a bookstore a few years ago that had the "swirl" in it, and I always wish I had picked it up.

Hah I haven’t hid that I’m from Orange County originally, specifically Mission Viejo.
Republicanism was a touch more innocuous in the 90s than it is now, so everyone seemed a lot more mellow and I got some good lefty-indoctrination from the nuns in HS, so I never really view that place as nuts as common perception exists. The more right leaning people I know moved to Arizona because it’s getting purple around there

I liked these graphics as well and you can tell time went in them.
It even fit the brandname because they felt kind of "nostalgic" in a way.
So I'd skate it, even with the horrible logo on there.
The new series look like something you'd get from a "designer" in his forties (with absolutely no affiliation to skating) that was asked to design "something cool for skate kids".
This is the most generic crap I've ever seen. Even worse than Plan B and Disorder.

Will say it's pretty smart to come up with a catchy brand name that just rolls of the tongue like that.

I heard he's got Joel Osteen funding behind the brand, it's too big to fail

That appears to be EXACTLY what he has said with this latest run of graphics, doesn’t it?

I wasn’t gonna tell this story here but it’s too good to pass up.
Shecks almost sold me his board off the wall the other day. If the wheelbase hadn’t been too short I’d be riding the tiger right now. Ryan was super cool by the way, I felt so bad saying I couldn’t! He did put me on the spot but I fucking loved that he did. It was rad.

What I loved about this is that Shecks was hustling his wall-hangers for a couple extra bucks.
Really humanizes him.

With terminite not being around and element no longer promoting twigs, I'm sure there's some money to be made in that market. His whole park is just like skate camp, private instruction anyway. Graphics wise, Id imagine if you put a sheckdeck next to an isle board, a child will probably pick sheck.
business wise I think sound concept for a former child star launch brand for potential child star and/or clueless parents that think their kid is a potential child star. If he had department store deal lined up, head be golden.
