Does anyone here play? I've just recently got into playing it again after a 5 year hiatus.

Congrats you just hit zero rep today :)

I’ve always wanted to play.  A friend in high school played, and he showed me how once with an extra set. Then it wasn’t till college when I had a friend who REALLY made it interesting by talking about his strategies and deck building. He would have won States, but came in third because of really bad luck and could never pull lands.

He had a deck that essentially never let the opponent ever have a turn as they get slowly dismantled (like being digested in the Scarlac Pit in the Tatooine desert for a 1000 years, ha). It all depended on drawing those lands, though, to get it started.

Now, I think it would be fun to get into it, but there are SO many more parts to it than back in 2002, and seems ridiculously overwhelming.

Plus I really don’t have time to go to the card parties at shops, or whatever they’re called.

I know there’s online, and people have said that’s a good way to get into, but it’s still so overwhelming and I’m done in life learning complicated things.

I’m not letting my YouTube algorithm anywhere near that video.

I fucked around with it a bit, if i had the time id play it more the concept is actually so genius imo. Kind of like the appeal of a video game but in card form

I used to play a lot in high school, played up until Innistrad.
Tried to get back into it recently, but something about the theme/art of the new sets put me off.

@Mywm you might like the Girl Genius comic by phil and kaja foglio, they did a lot of early Magic art.

I used to play but I sold all my decks and cards when I moved to another town.

Always think about give It another try but I don't have enough time and there are to many new elements which seems overwhelming to me

Mtg online was kinda fun but I don't want to spend to much time playing video games

I feel too dumb for this game. I remember playing with a friend who was deep into it, and he invited me to play for my first time. It didn't go too well, as he was some kind of Einstein of Magic. Every time it was my turn he was seething with rage thinking "this guy is fuckin stupid". He did not enjoy the lack of fluidity or competition. I was not invited to play again.

Hilarious. I don't like Settlers of Catan for the same reason, had a friend get super angry and aggressive and yell at me because I was playing too slow. I noticed they only did this however, when things seemed to be going my way. Fuck that shit.
