He is on some "beyond God tier" level that some people apparently can't handle. He totally deserves SOTY again at this level of insanity.

Yo… I think TJ is about to blow fucking minds, and this is why…

Atiba said this is his favorite photo he’s ever taken. That’s cool, but why? This photo is similar to the tengu ollie photo, so what makes this so special to Atiba? It could be the insane risk factor, for sure. But when I look at this photo, it is as if TJ isn’t even the primary subject. The bend in the tracks in the distance is. What’s coming around that corner? TJ’s next video part, that’s what. This is foreshadowing some shit we are not ready for. I think this is atiba’s favorite photo because of the story it is telling, but it isn’t been told yet.

(Fixed typo - Ativan to Atiba. I blame Apple)

Lol it’s not that deep man. Atiba’s not Kubrick or Hitchcock or Jacques Tati. It’s his favorite photo because it’s a crazy good shot taken from a dangerous spot. If that level of risk between subject and photographer doesn’t scream Hellride I don’t know what does.

When Tyshawn is quiet he's unapproachable and has a bad attitude, but when Heath is a total anti-social weirdo we get entire documentary segments about how "cool and mysterious" he is.

Never been to subway or NYC at all, are those yellow parts skateable? If not, the gap is even bigger.

Yellow parts are definitely not skateable.

Looking at this photo, he lands on the right side? Doesn’t seem like a huge amount of landing room and at that speed with slipper floors the danger gets even higher. Also, what makes this subway platform a “spot” compared to the other hundreds of them in the city? More runway or something?

Truly an all time trick, spot and photo. I wonder how many tries it took.

Ya that one kinda sucked and looked like it was meant for non skaters. I meant something post career similar to the Vice stuff on Heath.

I think it’s multiple factors, the layout , the area it’s in, prolly something with the timing of the trains too and I’m gonna assume it’s relatively unmanned so lower bust factor.

Aren't NYC subways notoriously off-schedule? I hope they didn't put their trust in the hands of the NYC subway schedule. I'm hoping they had some people at nearby stations calling/radio-ing to them when the coast was clear.

The digital displays with ETAs in the stations are accurate. And also you can definitely see and hear them coming (they have lights that you can see reflecting off the walls) well in advance

Still dangerous, but its definitely not a total diceroll.

They’re often inaccurate and climbing out can be difficult (even without camera equipment).

I'm not going to front. I'm less impressed by fat gaps than big benches.

You kids need to get on a bus and go barge there. I fucking ride with you for a two way bus ticket a half oz of weed a microwave and a big pack of hotdogs and a sleeping bag. I definitely need a sleeping bag at this age.

I'm not lying I'd leave on Fri if you wanna take a weeks worth of trys I'll point a camera at you if you meet my requirements.

Sincerely disappointed that no New York slappers nor someone like Jenkem has gone there with a homie and a tape measure to determine the actual distance of the gap.

the D line uses R68s, which are listed as ten feet wide on wikipedia. factor in a little distance between the train and the platform (~18 inches) and the gap itself is probably somewhere between eleven and twelve feet, not including the blind bumps (impossible to tell if tyshawn popped over those or used a sign; if he did go past them, it's closer to fourteen feet).

with all that being said, the biggest hurdle isn't the gap; it's the runup. the station has three tracks straddling two platforms, and tyshawn jumped the middle track. judging by the picture below, there's no way someone could just throw down and go straight at the platform (even going from right to left, as tyshawn did), so tyshawn almost certainly had to jump the gap at an angle.

I gave an estimate of about 11 ft (3,42 m) but people here don't trust science
