Don’t use wd40 on your bearings.
Don’t spend an hour on a manual trick with a brand new board if you’re on a budget.

Don’t expect to ever be sponsored or send copy paste DMs asking to be sponsored by brands.

If you do insist on DMing your sponsor me sales pitch, only do it to company’s you have actually BOUGHT and ridden products from.

Don’t let others make you feel bad for riding whatever product you want. All legit brand skate product is fine enough for almost any average skater.

please don't start or escalate physical confrontations with security guards or civilians but definitely don't attack people with your board. if you can be nice to people that's a good way to live.

Get comfy running shoes or walking shoes to wear when you're not skating - people who wear skate shoes when they're not skating are fucking idiots. Your knees will thank you when you're 30.

Get aftermarket insoles and get in the habit of stretching before you skate

Don’t be embarrassed to do a few minutes of a warm up exercise routine around people to warm up for skating. An active motion routine is better for warming up your body than static stretching. You can stretch after the moving exercise if you want. Stretching at the end of your session is also important and very beneficial.

Don't do Slappy's if you're young
[close]

I would disagree here. I've learned a bunch of tricks on ledges after doing them on curbs first.
[close]

Yep, I think the revival of low impact stuff is the best thing happened to skateboarding in past decade. I still remember early 00's when you got bullied for doing slappies (can't you ollie on that little curb?), no complies and boneless was not really counted as a trick etc. Dark times..

If hipster skating is allowed, so are slappies.

At least when you're a washed-out hipster douchebag in NY, you can milk it at some decent looking, hard to skate spots. In LA you're just a tan-lined faggot in a school yard somewhere.

I'm 35 and wear skate shoes to work every day. I have straight up flintstone feet and they're actually way more comfortable for me than running or walking shoes. Actually a nice flat cupsole with a good insole is pretty much the only way my feet don't hurt at the end of the day.

Wear what's comfortable for you, whatever that is, and don't feel like a "fucking idiot" for it would be better advice.

You don't need 10 pairs of trucks, 4 will do.

If you find a shape or truck/deck combination you like, stick with it to minimize adjustment time between setups

Spend money on stuff that makes skateboarding less painful even if you are a young buck; proper insoles or an ankle brace

Save money on belts and rock the shoelace belt

Don't get MOB if you plan to skate outside in cold weather. That shit will just peel off of your board when it's cold.

Don't skate just once a week for like a 10-hour session. You will progress more if you skate consistently, such as every other day, for one to a few hours.

From my experience wheel are rarely made by tolerance, that way your spacers sometimes mush onto bearings when tighten up, or no matter how much you crank your shit it still has some play inside wheel. I still use them tho, just an old habit.

Don’t buy into deck tech, whether it be bonite, featherlite or vertical plies; 7 ply maple has been the industry standard for 30+ years for a reason.

Only by a ps stix board if you intend to skate it for exactly 13 days!

Gotta disagree. Flight decks have done me well, and keep me from wasting my money buying boards that get soggy.

please explain why ?

interesting topic, but do a lil effort because if you don't explain why you recommend this or that, it's just useless information.
I know that when it comes to science, materials science, physics, etc. skaters aren't to be trusted at all.

It's important to use a silicone-based lubricant. WD40 is hygroscopic and will attract dust and dirt.
