From what I've seen, there are two basic ways of doing them... one of which I won't do because it freaks me out, the other of which isn't really that hard.

Option 1: Get locked into the blunt position, and slightly pop... just enough to get your back wheels under the coping, then you do a brief fakie-manual until you can set your wheels down. I weird out on the idea of doing them like that because it's too damn easy to set your front wheels down, lock up, and get sore ribs and a swellbow.

Option 2: I like to overcompensate and take the hang-up out of the equation. I made this from an old clip (you might need to view trhe image by itself as the forum will probably shrinkk it):

My basic goal is to tap the front wheels down before the back wheels... I imagine a spot under the coping, then after ollie'ing, I aim for it. It helps me to stay over my board, looking straight down the transition. The further over the transition I am, the more confident (perfect word from venuskukko) I feel in setting the front wheels down.

Don't try to stall it... be ready to pop as soon as the board locks into a blunt. Sometimes if I lock in and let it sit, the board won't do anything... just get ready to pop before locking in, and as soon as your back wheels click over, pop really quickly.

This is one thing you just need to start trying.  You need to get a feel for it and all you can do for that is to keep trying it.  I would suggest to learn blunt to rocks first, and then go for fakie.

One major thing to keep in mind is that you body needs to still be in the ramp while you are doing it which makes the pop out possible.

you should never ever touch your board while in a blunt. Just stop doing that all together and learn them the correct way. As many falls as it takes. Never touch your board. Unless maybe you grab your front truck. Yea do that.

blunt pivot is a good stepping stone, but yeah, what they said. pop harde and faster. i try to pop them almost BEFORE im locked in.
and keep your weight in the ramp, not over the coping or deck.

remember how when you were learning to ollie it was all about learning to pull the board with the side of your front foot?

I'm not sure which tip was the final coffin nail, but this weekend I landed blunt fakie for the first time in 7 years, and I credit these tips. I think spotting the landing was a big tip. Anyway, my right knee is kind of fucked right now from falling on it in my attempts. But it was well worth it. Thanks guys! Cupcakes for everybody.
And if you want a tip. Look at these.

Actually, I know its backwards and all, but I had blunt back 180 before I had this. I guess because I like going in forward instead of fakie. But knowing how to do that messed with me at first, since all my to fakie attempts would do these little backside turns that would throw me to the ground- which sucked because it was at a cement park.
