Watched Throne of Blood and Yojimbo. I think I’ll take the beauty of ToB and the story of Yojimbo. Both great.
I thought it wasnt just him solo, shouldve stuck with my og thought.

Sweaty.

Remembered I had it on my list after seeing your post. It's really entertaining, wasn't expecting a brazilian western after Aquarius (another great movie from the same director).

I'm working my way through the Predator films while listening to various movie review podcasts about each film.

I think people were talking about The Favourite a couple pages back?
This is probably my favorite movie by that director, it just got put up on the Criterion site:

Really good quarantine movie

Are there any scenes where an animal is hurt in that movie? Sounds dumb but my girl and I were going to watch this and then got worried about the animal aspect. I don't care that much but it really ruins a movie for her.

Yes! Aquarius was also really great.

We've been going through a watchlist, too. Highlights so far have been:

3 Women
The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert
Beggars of Life
Le Cercle Rouge
Charulata
Galaxy Invader
Hollywood Shuffle
It's Such a Beautiful Day
The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp
Life, Animated
Revanche
The Tale of Princess Kaguya

A cat is killed with a pair of gardening shears at one point, I can't remember how graphic it is or how much is actually shown though.

Buzzard by Joel Potrykus. It's like Hesher/Napolean Dynamite/Taxi Driver/Office Space. Funny and painful story about a metalhead horror film obsessed sociopath fucking up real bad trying to get one over the system. First movie I've sat through in one go for a while.

I’m watching the Lord Of The Rings trilogy for the first time ever. I saw parts of it when it came out but was too young to really appreciate it. I’m about 2 hours into The Two Towers and I love it. These films are just so damn ambitious and immersive. I’m watching the extended versions and they’re really long though, about 4 hours a film. Trying to treat it more like a miniseries and watch 2 hours a day.

I watched that last night along with Joker and holy shit!!!! the ending for both was dynamite but great build up with tension and delivery. Absolutely brilliant endings fro both of them, especially OUTH the best part I think was the backyard flame thrower in the pool and the dog eating hippes.

I've been smashing Kanopy the last few weeks - watched Upstream Colour last night, was super hard to follow but I enjoyed it, Shane Carruth is a pretty special and unique filmmaker.

The Lighthouse is a genius movie, great lighting, great story, absolute rad movie.  Reminds me of VVITCH with the language of the time. Totally recommend this movie.

Not sure if you're making the correlation between the Witch and The Lighthouse knowingly, but if not Robert Eggers directed both, so that makes sense.

Yeah I didn’t know till after I looked it up, the speech is periodic to the timeline.

Something about the level of detail in these movies gives authenticity that hasn’t been mass marketed.

There’s been maybe a handful of decent directors from the millennium that stand out,  Robert eggers is one of them.

Kanopy is great, unfortunately none of the libraries in my area have subscriptions.
Made an account with the LA public library but that only lasted so long.
Full access to the Criterion Collection is priceless.

watched both of those last week, I feel like RZA's influence in both of those is pretty big, Not just the soundtrack either, I think vol 2. would have been quite a different story had the RZA not been involved.
