Title: Cruiser set-up wheels?
Post by: Kab on May 31, 2011, 08:27:48 PM
After I start getting some paychecks this summer I want to get a cruise board together. I've already got the deck and trucks I want in mind, but I'm not sure about wheels. I want some big ole softies, 60mm + and nice and soft. Any recommendations?

Skating some 54mm Hi-Fis but they're a couple years old. OJs are good from everything i've heard.

I'm running the 58s right now. They felt a little bouncy at first but I'm loving them now.

Krooked Kutters are pretty good too... I know some people complain about them chunking up, but I have had the same set for about 6 months with no problems whatsoever. Even with riding on shitty oatmeal asphalt...

i use 54 cliche all terain cruisers. they are soft and have a good shape for a cruiser wheel... (somewhere between a regular wheel and the wheels from the 70ies)

FWIW, I've owned multiple sets of Zip Zingers.. first set chunked out, and on the 2nd set the outside of the wheel completely separated from the core on a flat backside ollie. They were nice enough to send along a replacement set, though. Ricta Clouds on the way, I'll be happy to answer any questions no one asked as soon as I get them.

Bones ATFs are tasty.

Spitfire 92 Softers if you want something a little softer than a normal wheel but not straight-up bouncy ball.

I think technically they're just a roller skate company now, but I've been rocking sure-grips on my cruiser for a few years now, and they are by far the best cruiser wheels I've ever had.

go to the thrift store and buy a pair of rollerskates. then you get 2 sets of softies for cheap.
