anyone put balls to the wall and try vert lately? it's hard. but new things are fun.
other than that, i don't try new tricks, just new spots and old tricks.
Unfortunately we don't have a regular vert ramp around, just our bowl but that's a whole different monster. If the transitions are proper, I love skating vert. Not the best at it, but there's no other feeling like that, from the speed to the weightless feeling once you're at the top of a wall. We had a huge one in NOLA a number of years ago, 13ft with the best transition ever. Fucking miss that.
Despite sucking at it, I definitely love just the feeling of riding a vert ramp. Best thing I have ever done on a real one is either a rock and roll or a stand up 5050. I thought rock and roll was scarier though. I really want to learn proper vert backside airs. I've done them on all sorts of shit with vert, but never on a genuine vert ramp. I'd also love frontside airs, but don't see myself having the balls to commit on a full vert ramp. Done it over coping on an 8ft ramp but ate shit really hard trying. On a real vert ramp, those slams would kill me .
On topic, switch backside 180's over gaps. They always felt awkward to float over things and I never really committed to working on them. Did lately, and its a good feeling.
