Sour no longer under HLC? Was just checking HLC IG and you don't see Sour on their bio.
[close]

They might be one of those brands that just don't want the association displayed and have kept the rights to their product for their own sale and distribution, while still getting boards done there too, given all the other info that points clearly to their boards coming from there right up until recently, it seems.

HLC lists brands that are pressed AND distributed throught them

Thank you!

You might be able to help with some more info I am sifting through, from that UK shop.

Quite a few UK / European brands I don't have in the main list.

Wayward (UK) - Control
Yes Fam (UK) - Control

Yardsale (UK) - BBS

Thames MMXX (UK) - Dwindle

Pop Trading Company (from Amsterdam) - says Made in Germany - anyone have any more info on that?

Clown (UK) - unknown, maybe HLC

Isle (USA is Generator as per stickers) but it looks different in the UK shop, maybe HLC as well, being similar look to other HLC decks there.

Any corrections to these, or others that are not on the list please let me know.

Thanks!

I talk too much about skateboards.  Sorry.

Clown 8.25s have the same dims as some Sour 8.25s. As odd of a comparison as this is, the top ply dyes and laser etching job on Isle also look very similar to Sour.

Has anybody tried the crail G050 shape? Is there any taper towards the tail or is it 8.25 throughout the whole deck?

I've had several CCS customs, PSSTIX, PRIME, and one unstamped that I ASSUME was clutch.

Oh okay nice, I was looking at other decks listed with multiple pics that had 2 or 3 stained plys, so I assumed they couldn't be that bad. As long as they're not just cheap china wood I might take a chance for $40.

OK Boomer just got one from Kinetic shop, as per this post:

https://www.slapmagazine.com/index.php?topic=82832.msg3635697#msg3635697

From the Skate Shit you've Bought Recently thread:

https://www.slapmagazine.com/index.php?topic=82832.6930

Found this post from Uprise shop that has the third pic with top shots, so not sure if the red maple leaf on black background is just a sticker by an unknown woodshop, or if it is from Control, as I thought they had red leaf on white sticker previously.

***  I know there are not many woodshops in Canada, but just wanted to make sure.

Just wanted to confirm Control is indeed using these black/red stickers on their recent product.

The Girl Deck Shapes might have more info for you:

https://www.slapmagazine.com/index.php?topic=84855.0

From what I can see the G050 has quite a few mentions on there, using the search function it comes up with this, which I found most interesting (short tail under 6.5 = too short for one skater) but this is what I pulled from that thread.

G050 - 8.25" X 32" (More tapered/pointier) 14.41 wb

Someone mentions that shape was discontinued.

Expand Quote
Grabbed a G050 deck last week not realizing the tail was so small at 6.3" with the longer WB. Not sure I like the small tail.. it's noticeably harder to stay locked into tail slides without slipping out, and feels like not enough room on the tail when popping.. I'm starting to figure it out but I really want to try the G052 next. I'll try the slower pop someone mentioned above lol. Wish I would have gotten the 52 in the first place.

Anyone tried the G052? The specs look really good
[close]

If the 52 is the one that’s like 8.25 with a 14” wheelbase but a little longer than the other 8.25 yeah I’ve had a few of them and really liked the shape, if I recall the nose was a little bigger but was good

I think they put a lot of maltos graphics on that shape

Do you mean full shaped popsicles, or do you mean shaped boards, eg old school, shovel, pointed nose, squared tail, etc?

From the Dwindle list on page 1, I have left all those that I have seen shaped boards from over the years.

**  Yet to update with all this new info, but will in coming days, hopefully with some more questions answered from board brands replies.

Confirmed HLC make Isle and a few others for the EU market.

Also didn't know some Frog boards are PS Stix, mainly in the shaped versions, as per the Big Boards thread, then checked.  All the normal popsicles are BBS / Generator.

Nice that these guys try to list the manufacturer of decks in all their listings.

Thinking of picking this board up soon

width: 9.6"
length: 32.125"
wheelbase: 14.75"
nose: 6.5"
tail: 6.625"

Anyone skated it before? How is it?

Been looking through some other things and old Woodshop threads, which say the MDCN decks (and most likely the other ones there too) were from Excel factory in China, which makes sense.  Nothing wrong with them, decent wood, good boards, etc.  They are both distributors who buy in bulk blanks, which is different to those places that manufacture their own boards on site.

Besides popsicles, they have come out with these shaped boards, which all look pretty good.

Also now figured out where those size stickers come from too.  Thank you @fs1/2cab

Also Housewife Skateboards use BBS for these boards:

I’ve been looking at a dgk 7.75 w/ a 14.5 wheelbase does anyone know what the actual length of the deck is? I’m seeing 31.25, but I’m not sure if it’s right. Short deck long wheelbase sounds Interesting. Does anyone have experience with it or something similar(width doesn’t really matter as long as it’s under 8.25)?

I think it's probably 31.5 via the DGK website: https://dgkallday.com/products/tuner-williams-7-75-skateboard-deck
7.75" Width x 31.5" Length / 14.5" Wheelbase
Skatedeluxe lists nose: 6.625"; tail: 6.125".

Looked at all options and no I cannot find one board that is a full shape like those brands on PS Stix or the FA/Hockey type boards.

Curious isn't it, but how many woodshops do actually do that style of board, besides PS Stix and BBS?

I seem to recall Clutch / ASF did something like a Full shape, but it still wasn't anything like that.

* Only modern boards in that question. Not counting the old / reissue Barnyard shaped board either, but could that have been one of the first of that sort of shape?

i don't know if it's already been mentionned

I spotted that quarterdist sticker on some Poetic collective boards (Summer 21)
And on some Magenta team boards during Summer 20 when it was tricky to get boards pressed at BBS (their usual woodshop).

Might consider Quarter Dist for a batch of shop boards, any feedback welcome !

I searched this thread and many more, but seem to either be illiterate or not looking hard enough. The 14" wheelbase boards I find in my area are all made in china/ dwindle/ clutch or other subpar wood in my area. Does anyone know of PS stix, BBS, or Generator 8.25" x 14" wheelbase boards with normal popsicle shape? Not into the square nose of FA/ wknd etc.

Thanks internet!

Primitive my guy

And April 8.25's.
[close]

Primitive is apparently shopping ±5 woodshops atm, so I'd prefer not to gamble. (Source someone I know is flow for Primitive and has been complaining about the fluctuation in shape/ quality of wood, I think he got 10 boards and they came in 4 different boxes and have different top/ warning stickers from each box)

Do you know what woodshop April uses?

PS stix wood is my favorite, but seems they don't offer any 8.25 x 14" WB anymore. Apparently they used to have quasi boards with that shape?

Any other info you have about Primitive is interesting from a woodshop perspective.

I don't think that April has any plans to change from BBS, but who knows really.

The funny thing is Primitive seems to be all about the margins, so they were just going for the cheapest suppliers when BBS upped their board prices ($1 increase per board makes a pretty big difference when talking about thousands on thousands of decks) but then a number of woodshops have had shortages, so they have had to go back to whatever they could get, hence the shortage of Primitive boards recently.

Yo so I got a stack of AD blanks I’m screening. Good boards, cool people. They have a few shapes, I went with the mellower concave cause I grew up on flat 90s Girl decks so I’m not a huge concave guy.
I mean, they’re skateboards, they’re made out of maple, aren’t totally wack and I can get them so yeah, it’s a winner.

Clutch fucked a lot of their customers really hard, to the point where I’ve heard they’re rebranding/changing the name to try and wash some of that stain away. Dunno if it’s true, but I wasn’t the only one screwed by shitty business practices.
