Needs the least set up for tre flips out of anyone. Even his drop ins look good. (bomb street skater but you dont seem to get much of that from him) kinda bums me out to see all these young gen bowl rulers skate after watching some of atchleys parts.
-
Truth Brent is both one of my favorite tranny and street skaters. Maybe a little over-stylish and times but it works for him. Calling Brent too stylish is like calling a pretzel too salty.

He's actually so much fun to watch. Seems like his approach to skating/filming is pretty relaxed which I dig.

always loved watching his skating. I've seen the odd clip of him after his element days but not a whole lot. Would love to see more footage of him.

This part is so fucking dope! Remember when Element had Rupp, Brent, and PJ Ladd all at once?!
-
When this dude came out big time he literally blew my fucking teenage mind. Tranny wasn't as big as it is now, most people were into big stairs and rails or manual pads and ledge. Back then stuff was proper and buttery and bank skating wasn't blown out yet. Nyjah had dreads and was hailed a child prodigy. All terrain rippers weren't really a thing and people were finding out that you could tranny jersey barriers. His style looks like it was born and bred cruising from burnside daily and I emphasize the cruising. Look up steezy in the dictionary and it will say his name.
I remember going to this guy from the skateparks house to set up an extra board he had. We popped in elementality (damn 10 years ago) and he had nothing but hate for this guy. Maybe it was just an element hate thing, idk. On a family trip back then I stopped by burnside and asked about him. The locals mentioned unmentionables but also sounded mad jealous. I could care less honestly, I will never forget that little shuffle over the top of the pyramid in elementality. Robbie Russo in his younger days was close but still couldnt touch his style.

Brent is sick, i just could never get down with the sagged pants and the ponytail rubber band cuffed pants during his element days..
-
Fuck, I miss the baggy pants dunk wearing 7.5 board brent atchley.

brent is interesting because he's not what you think of when you think of a burnside ripper, but he skate is in a really unique way. it's almost like burnside is a different park when he's skating, versus when everyone else does. brent atchley can make something out of the most obscure contour in burnside, and it's way sicker than most people who skate the park more conventionally. I'm thinking for example, the opening to his element pro debut part where he skates that little pocket and hits that tiny little lip a couple times in a line.

For real. I don't remember if it's in his elementality part or another, but he does that line where he pushes in the street and instantly snaps a tre flip once his back foot gets on. Watching that when I was way younger tripped me out and I loved how the way he skated was so easy and lazy. he just flows, not worried about shit.

Last line in his Elementality part, yeah. 4:13.

Never really understood why he wasn't/isn't still properly hooked up. He must still be quite young and I'd think his kind of skating would age well.
-
I don't tend to watch his footie as nothing equates to watching him skate Burnside in person.

I couldn't be more jealous. He's my Animal Chin. I've been to burnside 4 times over the years and have gotten my hopes up only to be disappointed every time. Does anyone know if he still skates a lot? I know he's a dad and I'm assuming he just works a job. His instagram clip's every few months are just enough to remind me that he's best.
-
I can attest to the watching him skate burnside in person. He's not exactly the best person to hang around in my experience, but no one skates that place like him.
-

Care to elaborate?
-
He always just kind of came across as an arrogant asshole to me.
-
he has snowboarder style
-
^said no one ever
-
I first saw him on Elementality Vol 1. I not only thought his style was the best, but I was jealous of his dunk collection and how he could skate some of the most rare and expensive dunks like nothing. Now I'm completely against nike since I understand the politics within the industry, but back then it was all about SB dunks. There were other styles like the FC's and Blazers which were dope, but dunks were where it's at. Anyways, Brent kills it.
-
This thread revived interest in Atchley for me a few days ago. I thought he was still on Tribute, but apparently they've been out of business. Anyone know if he's getting hooked up? For some reason I think Magenta could be dope.
Also, I've never met him in person but he talks about being deaf in his left ear and how people perceive him as being an ass because of it.
-
No one hates Deaf Paul or Deaf Tom because they're deaf. They're just assholes. He doesn't get to use that excuse either.
-
I can't reference this, but didn't the Gonz say he was the most natural skater he'd seen? Nothing to back this statement up, other than I thought I read it here some years back...
-
He should move to Europe and make a comeback on Magenta
-
BUMP!
Dude has the best style ever. Period. The way he just cruises around and makes every trick look flow-y is unreal. Even when people try and fake that float-y / flow-y style they don't even come close.
Watch this for evidence.

Edit: If you're wondering what he's up to, someone Reddit posted this about him in Nov. of 2016. "I bump into him frequently in Portland. He's a dad now and is part owner of a Hawaiian restaurant in town. I think he still skates from time to time."
Also this was posted less than 24 hours ago.

The best

yeah I was so stoked on that new IG clip too. I still revisit his old Element parts from time to time. his take on street skating was always interesting too.
-
i wonder how many times a day he gets called brett
-
wow that ig clip half cab rock n roll revert over the spine was some actley type shit. Hes the man.
-
One of the first videos that I bought was This Is My Element, and I remember being blown away with how smooth his style was
-
I remember the first time I skated Burnside and he was there. No one really skated that park better than him, Mikey Chin and Deaf Paul.
-
No one will ever come close to brent's style... The thing that stokes me the most is his appearance... He doesn't look like the typical Tranny-Dude. If you'd see him without knowing of his skating you would think he likes doin pop-shuv nosegrind on ledges...
That's what stoked me out when I first saw Robbie Russo skating... Back then Transition skating was dominated by the more hesh dudes

so stoked to find this thread, i started skating heavily after seeing his debut pro part for element. the song was hella tight and fun, and so was his skating, making shit look way too easy on every terrain. frontside Ollie on that skinny bump in that part is insane

I love this pic because I hung up on those chunks missing out of the ramp while doing a wallride and splatted on the flatbottom. Brent makes it look too easy, as always.
A coworker of mine told me that he "found a cool mani pad" at the esplanade where brent does that legendary ender line in Elementality - I just had to pull out the phone to show him the part. Sure enough, his mind was blown.

That's such a sick photo, also it's really funny reading the pop shove-it nosegrind comment because just last week I was introducing some younger locals to Brent Atchley via his Elementality part and while he instantly became one of their favorite skaters (I was psyched), one of them did say he looked like the type of dude you'd imagine doing pop shove-it nosegrind reverts specifically at first glance. The coincidence trips me out. Maybe Brent Atchley is in fact godlike at pop shove-it nosegrinds and it's just that no one will ever see it, nor does he need to show it because he knows it's part of his morphology.

u know i gotta bump this
