Best way from NYC to Rhode Island?

So for my spring break from school I booked a flight from Florida to NYC. My freind up there assured me a place to stay for a few days before I ventured up to Rhode Island for the remainder of the break. Well, homeboy is going to Texas for the time I'll be there. No biggie, I'll spend the afternoon skating NYC and get along to RI that evening. Anyone know the best way from NY to RI? Kingston, RI would be most convinient for me as I'm going to Newport. Thanks everyone.

Thanks man. I actually found an Amtrak to Kingston. Apparently a short 20-30 minutes to Newport. I figure a train will be cool. Not many people ride 'em much down here in Florida so it'll be nice to actually see a whole different area of the country ground level.
