I’m 6’5” and have size 15 feet. I weigh 225lbs. Just picked up skating for the first time at 28 yrs and loving it but really struggling to land anything. I currently have an 8.25 deathwish deck. Any suggestions on the size deck I should go for?
-
Maybe try a 9" popsicle if you don't want to get a shaped deck.
-
u left the most important dimension out. general rule of thumb is your dick
size multiplied by 1.25

That actually checks out almost exactly for me! :D

Thanks. I’m between a 8.75 “ with Indy 159s or going to the 9” with 169s? I think that makes sense. I haven’t seen too many boards larger than 8.75” that aren’t shaped. Any brand suggestions?

Where the fuck am I going to find a 5" deck?

Polar makes a 9" popsicle. Antihero orange eagle is also a 9" popsicle. Both of those I've considered to pair with my Ace 55s but I'm kinda on a shaped deck kick right now so haven't pulled the trigger.
There are some 9" popsicles around but they're not very common. I think CINCINNATI skates or at least used to skate mostly 9" popsicles. Maybe he'd have more input.

What size
deck dick should I ride?
- I don't get how people always get this one wrong.
-
I just went from an 8.0 to a 10.4 for fun.

Just come down the hall, first door on the left...dim the lights a bit. Front door should be unlocked.
-
A banana and 2 eggs, you'd fit well on that
-
board size is just preference, and despite the fact that most people ride something around 8" there's no actual advantage to it, just habit. Feet your size definitely get something 9" or wider and some wider trucks to go with it. Somebody said Polar makes wider boards, it's true, but you should just send your money directly to Neil Blender or the American College of Skateboard Graphic Artists and ask them to send you some boards.

Whatever feels good. I'd be buying 7.5 ' or smaller if they existed.
I'm currently riding n 8. Smallest I can find.

This might not help much but there is no specific chart for what board size you should ride. Also, by "really struggling to land anything," do you mean like it's too small for you to land on? So my advice would be go to your local skate shop and find a deck that you like. Ask the guy if you can take it down from the wall to stand on it. Repeat until you find a good size. If you don't have access to a skate shop, grab a measuring tape and experiment with different lengths next to your foot (as in try it at 9, 8.75, 8.5, or whatever the hell you want).
-
I’m 6’2” with a 13 shoe and I ride either 8.5 or 8.375 smallest. With a 15 shoe I would try 8.75 and see if it feels better.

DGK and a few other BBS/Generator brands sell 7.5 decks but ive never seen or even heard of lower than that

I pretty much just did the same. A 8.6 to a 10.
It's hella fun.

Fuck, at 6 5 with 15 size feet get a 36 long board thats wide and has a tail. Put ace 66s on there or 169 indys and 54 mm easy street fatties. Ur just gettin goin so you dont need a nose yet. No risers. No tight trucks -that shits bs. Edit; i just saw one on the socal skate web site a board from "honey longboards" its 10 by 35.5 with a kick tail. That would be perfect. At 6 5 it will help ur style to have a wheel base thats proportional. It wouldnt be a 'longboard' for you.

You don't need a longer deck just cuz you're taller. It's all personal preference so shut up and put your tampon back in.

Get a boner and measure it. That's how wide your board should be.
On a lighter note, there is no correct answer to your question. Ride whatever size board feels comfortable to you.

Lot's of good advice here. I just got back into skating and got an 8.25 with Indy 149s and 53mm f4s. I also have a street axe 9" from street plant with Indy 159s and 56mm slimballs 97a. I like it better most of the time.
Then I got a Welcome 10" flying ape deck with Indy 169s and 54mm Slimeballs 97a. I feel so much more stable and actually ollie higher than the others. I am 5'11" and 225. It's crazy, I started on wide decks back in the day and quickly went to the narrow 7.5-7.75 popsicles and 48-50mm wheels. It used to be you were crazy if you had bigger than 50mm.
I've come full circle.

Get one with lots of girth
