Does anyone know why it’s called a roast beef grab?
[close]

The lore I’m familiar with is Grosso couldn’t do a stalefish, so he came up with the reach between the legs version and dubbed it the “Grossman Air” (idk if he was the first to do it). He had a photo in Thrasher (?) where they captioned it “Roast Beef”. Not sure if it was to clown Jeff or they didn’t have a trick name…

Either way he took full responsibility for that atrocity of a trick.
Thanks man! I honestly think it looks dumber than a Benihana and Billy Marks wouldn’t stop doing them for a minute there. His RTS intro was silly, but this double flip roast beef should earn him a felony.

The more I think about it, parchment paper/wrapping makes a lot of sense to increase the desirability of a sandwich despite it being unnecessary on a surface level. Why put something on if it is going to be immediately taken off?

Simply put, parchment paper/wrapping is the lingerie of the sandwich world.

The purpose of wrapping a sandwich is to squish it all together perfectly. Ideally you wanna wrap it tight and let the flavours marry a bit.

I'm definitely redeeming my free Subway footlong as soon as I wake up tomorrow.

They are changing the Rewards programme again and if you have points on your rewards card/app you have to use them before 14/05. At least they are here in the UK.
Now I have to decide do I just get one of my usual BMT/Steak sandwiches doused in sauce and salad for free or do I take a walk on the wild side?
Man, tomorrow morning  is gonna be thrilling.

I wonder if Subway is better in the UK. It’s pretty bad here in the US. Not surprising, as Subway is the second most popular food spot in terms of locations. Any time something is scaled up so high, the quality drops off a cliff

It's not bad here in my experience. Their meats are as you expect processed meats to be (I've been curious to try the vegan steak but haven't quite made that jump - if anyone has tried it feels like sharing their review I'm here), the salad is usually prepared daily for the most part and is given generously- and I've not experienced any issues with the quality of salad. Good range of sauces and you can always push them for extra.
Like any franchised food store the overall quality of the sandwich can for sure vary drastically, but I usually order from the same 1-3 stores and have narrowed in on one that is ultra consistent.

These days I think I pay about £9-10 for a large sandwich with an extra dip, cookie and a bottle of water or a coffee. Can be filling enough that it can be a dinner-time meal and having that cold mineral water can really take the edge off all the salt.

I can dig that. Its not just about the wrapping it to make the cutting easier and to keep it together, its about the anticipation.

I'm learning a lot about sandwiches, and myself, as this thread continues.

Skateboarding is filled with losers, some think that skateboarding itself is a loser activity. Who are some skaters that aren't losers?

Hummus is criminally slept on for sandwiches, thank you for reminding me I need to pick some up or make some if I’m not feeling lazy. I love a good veggie sandwich too, hit it with some avocado, feta cheese and like a pesto aioli and you’re in business. I used to work at a place that put alfalfa sprouts on every sandwich and it really changed the game. Very slept on ingredient but hard to keep fresh so use them asap. You know what else is slept on? Cream cheese. You pair that with some turkey and bacon and you’ll see what I mean. Man, I want a sandwich now.

Eating hummus with some pretzels as I read this, definitely gonna have to try this out.

Y’all can use the search function, or hit my DMs for the recipe, but your humble Habibi over here has been cranking out ass kicking hummus in a variety of flavors for over a decade.
All this to say, in the right scenario, hummus can work magic.
Don’t sleep on the baba, either.
Make your own for pennies on the dollar vs. what you’d pay for store bought blech.
But there’s a time & place for everything obviously, and not everything calls for hummus.

I wanna play you in a game of SKATE for the right to continue talking shit on me.  You think you got me?

They stay together? I’ve made garb or lentil burgers before but used egg to bind it all together and then coated in Panko to get a good crust.

Instead of egg you can use oatmeal. That binds things like red beans together when you fry them in a pan. There are a lot of recipes for vegan pattys with red beans and oatmeal. Lentil burgers are pretty rad too.

Great idea! I’m gonna try that, I haven’t had an egg in years thankfully lol

Good heavens these cold cut contraptions are really pickling my yodeler.  I'm seeing a marked lack of banana peppers though.  For me those are essential.

I need a damn sandwich.

A nice little addition to zazz up any sandwich instead of standard greens is tossed and massaged kale. Get a little olive oil, salt, and a drop or two of sesame oil, get your hands in there and get it nice and soft and it really adds some extra flavour (and nutrition) to your sammich.

where do you all fall on the 'is a hot dog a sandwich?' question

If open-faced sandwiches are sandwiches, hot dogs are too.
