I have these AF-1 Fresh '07 that I bought last year for work, more of a disguise than anything, long story, def not a nike fan, and the material used in the toe box was so flimsy, shits started creasing before I tried them on, advertised as leather looks and feels and creases like painted cardboard. Anyways, it took some elbow grease but I finessed those fuckos at corporate to accept them for return, but they want me to pay a whopping 20 dollars (heavy ass shoes) to ship them back, no prepaid label. They will then send me a gift card for 140 but there is literally not a single shoe or any other product for that matter on the nike website that would justify the 20 dollar cost of shipping these shitty AF-1s back. The SB page is laughable the shoes they are trying to sell in 2024. Floral print janoski slip ons. Maroon blazers with a navy swoosh. Half suede / half canvas GT's. Bunch of cheaply made back to school sale Kohls fake Dunk looking spin offs. The fucking 'vertebrae'. The new ishod. Has nike always been this shit?

That name seems exactly what the shoe is: an incongruent and confusing mess of things.

I do not see what’s so confusing about the shoe.   Maybe not the best colorway, but it’s a runner/Air Max inspired shoe that I think could look pretty good

I think that shoe has some good potential. Would love to see it in some more toned-down colourways.

I think it's a step in the right direction, has some classic Nike DNA with the Jordan 1 low/ Air Max vibes to it along with some newer tech incorporated with that mid and outsole. Will be interesting to see how it skates and other CWs, first new SB model I've liked in a while.

Oh that’s right.   We must have seen some other shoe with that colorway which is why it looked so familiar

This is exactly why I am waiting to commit to a pair of the ishods (I know the blk/gum pair exist, just don't like gum soles)

If it didn’t have a clear sole, would it?

That Axion is like the devolution of a late Supra Ellington, which was the devolution of a Jordan 4

I’ll likely grab those sbs once I can try them on. I like high profile toe caps for flicking, so that the suede or leather contacts grip tape instead of a flat toe where it’s all sole touching when flicking.
Plus these have that plate in the sole, and am I right in thinking it’s the same kind of plate that is in those running shoes that helped someone beat a running record and got banned? I think it will be cool to see how these are and I like that white and pink for summer

I'll preface this by saying I had never heard of this before today, so I could be mistaken on parts, but from what I can gather it seems like a lot of running shoes have had this feature for a while. I won't bore with the details but it's just kinda nike's marketing strategy (same thing with the Jordan 1) to claim their products are so good they got banned, in reality they just disregarded the rules to begin with. this new SB model has a nylon plate (cheaper than the typical carbon plate) which might be the first use of this in a skate shoe, but it really remains to be seen if this makes any difference whatsoever. the idea is that this stiffens up the shoe to prevent ankle injuries and promote stability. very similar to a boot shank, but it seems to typically be full-length in running shoes.

Nah, mate. Overwhelming majority of running shoes do not have a carbon plate. Carbon plated running shoes typically run north of $200 so only the most serious runners are using them.

Majority of running shoes are sold to people who don't run, obviously grandpa and grandma don't need carbon plating. I'm talking serious runners, the people demanding the top performing shoes. Like legit running shoes, not the majority. "Lot of" implied many, but not all nor even the majority. You can find this feature in models from Nike, Hoka, Brooks, Mizuno, Adidas, New Balance, ect.

Nike Problem Solver 8 Olympics

Love that it appears to have a legit midsole, and not the drop in stuff found on the Wair Max and Leo's. That's all I need. Hopefully there's foam in the forefoot too.

Edit: Did a Google search. Not sure what's going on with the midsoles now. These might be weird.

Brsb and Ishod’s are the two drop ins I’ve tried and I love them and haven’t heard any issues with the comfort of the Leo’s

Yeah, the Leos are some of the most comfortable (react insole) easy to skate shoes I've had in a while; the upper will bag out before the react insole is dead.
