I’m also fairly short legged and found the shorter the wheelbase the better for me, having skated as small as a 13.625” wheelbase and loved it, but I usually just get a 14” wheelbase deck. Also, if you really wanna get into the weeds you can choose to only skate the trucks that result in the tightest wheelbases like Ace classics (add just 2.75” to wheelbase). Choice of trucks can alter your wheelbase by up to 3/4” depending on what you go with so I’d say it’s as important as the deck choice if you really pay attention to wheelbase.

Would you guys say that shoulder/hip width is more important than height when it comes to wheelbase?

I’ve found two boards that work for me extremely well, though they’re on complete different spectrums. Crail Couch 9x32x13.875 and the DLX 8.38x32.25x14.5. Both on aces.

I’m only 5”4 and light as hell but have quite a wide stance. I have no idea why these in particular work for me and I’m still trying to work out what to stick with as I’m sick of having two setups.

Height, I’m assuming leg length affects skating more.
Again, it also comes to preference or what works for you.
Nothing I do deserves more than an iphone camera.

I can definitely tell the half inch difference between my two boards. my ollies are easier, better, and I have more airtime with the shorter truefit board. my friend who is about my same height also really liked it, think I convinced her to get one the next time she needs a new board.

I thought I would miss the length of my old board but I do not, I feel more in control and in sync with this board.

That's how I felt going smaller. Can't wait to try one of these out when my next deck is done. Really interested in a slightly shorter board and wheel base versus what I have rn, which is just a touch below average.

I've been skating the 8.25" Nicole Haus Real board with 13.88 wheelbase and I fucking love it. I normally would never skate 8.25 but the difference in length really makes a difference, I usually skate 8.0 - 8.125"

I just ordered 2 of the real 8.06" with 13.88 wheelbase and im curious if they ride similar to the 8.25"

5'10" with a 10.5 shoe size.

I went down to a 14.25" years ago and didn't even really know about wheelbase, realized after the fact why I enjoyed whatever board it was so much. Then went down to 14". Tried more boards with 13.8" wheelbases. Now I've landed on a 13.25" wheelbase and anytime I skate anything longer than 14" it feels like I'm trying to front slash coping with an evil beemer longboard. I LOVE short wheelbases. I really can't explain it, it just feels more natural to me. Nimble, super turny, and extra fun.

What companies are making a 13.25” WB? Or are you drilling the size down?

I do not, I've been riding 5.2 Low ventures with the 8.25" thinking its a similar approach to Ishod, its felt natural the whole time. excited to try out the 8.06

Someone else pointed out it's basically a dream girl shape with the WB shortened an inch. I've never drilled a board for a custom wheelbase but the madness will probably lead me there eventually.

thx That's kinda I wanted to hear.
I've been wanting to set up a short WB 8.25 with Ventures.

Currently skating an 8 x 14wb with Ace lows.
