Man, it took me a long time before I fully got into Elden Ring, but it has to be one of the best games I played in the last 10 years. After 30 hours the game finally clicked, and now I'm at 150 hours (and that's without the countless hours spent on watching lore videos). Finished a playthrough using all the 'overpowered' stuff (Mimic Tear, Rivers of Blood, Scarlet Rot etc.) and I felt like I cheated my way through some fights. Immediately after beating the Elden Beast I started a barebones run. Now I only use the Highland Axe with Flaming Strike, no summons, no spells except for Flame Grant Me Strength and Golden Vow and it's been a lot of fun. I'm currently at Godskin Duo, Mohg and the Haligtree. They're gonna be a challenge but it's exciting to overcome these difficult battles. Beating the duo Gargoyles and Crucible Knights felt awesome, so I'm chasing that rush.
I've always been a fan of game that are hard as shit, they have the same kinda appeal as skating. Definitely gonna play Dark Souls 3 after I'm done with Elden Ring, but the DLC is also coming soon.
