Never met them, but Danny Way and Mike Carroll give me that impression. As well as all the Supreme team.

Andrew cannon.

Came thru my local like 5 years ago before he was the nhs guy and I think he was on world/ain.

Anyway he did a nice nollie heel into a bank I said woo and slapped my board

He came back around the park and told me “you small town guys think that’s impressive you should go out to Cali and see what the real pros are doing u have no idea”.

Mind u I’ve lived out west and in big city’s and have seen a few pros.... I wouldn’t wanna spend 5 more minutes around that guy

Peter sidlauskas, mark humienik, and billy mcfeely came to my friends video premiere and when we went and said what’s up they kinda just gave us this dumbfounded look and didn’t say a word. We were also pretty drunk at that point so take that how you will

First off - OP, focus your account for not even having a tale for this thread. You "think" they would be jerks?? ::)

Jayme Fortune comes to mind: dude pulled up to the park, saw me doing a trick, proceeded to do it first try, then rolled around and did it switch first try. I was like 12 and he was already an old douche, which made it even weirder. Every encounter afterwards was the same - guy lives at his parents house and thought owning an Audi made him cool.

JT Aultz was on the opposite side of spectrum. The real boys came to town for a demo, and afterward he saw me lurking by myself, came up and sat down next to me. Asked about the demo, yadda yadda, was a genuinely good dude. Matt Beach is another one who demonstrated grown-up brain.

Ed Templeton hazed me once for wearing Nikes at the Huntington park (RIP) back in 2010ish. TBH, he was more than right.

Pffffft, I answered the question, something OP couldn't do (but hopefully will in the future because, as we ALL know, skaters are douchebags). I was thinking it was a garnish to the thread? You know, take a topic, leave a likewise?

But, like, butt out though. You aren't my real dad.

Pros that I've met that bummed me out by being rude:

Scott Johnston -- politely asked him if he could sit on a ledge that wasn't the ledge I was trying to film a trick on... he pretended like couldn't hear me.

Kris Markovich -- fanned out on him as an 18 year old during my first trip to ASR and he was too cool for me, which sucked cause he was my favorite skater until that moment.

Ethan Fowler -- fanned out at him as well during my first trip to ASR, he was cooler than Markovich, but I walked away feeling really dumb.

Rob Welsh -- he lived in the same city as me and I saw him at the park 2 nights a week, he wasn't nice to anyone except one kid who was super good at manual tricks (not sure if he was just awkward but he wasn't friendly).

Bryan Herman -- he and his friend were rude when they skated my local park.

One of the dudes from the (defunct?) Russian skateboard company Rebel Skateboards skate team. Skated with him one night in Moscow and he was a complete bummer. I just remember him screaming, "очень мало место (very small space)" and being a jerk. I saw him a few times around the city and he just ignored my presence.

Chris MaGoof -- he made every trip to Cowtown a miserable experience.

While most dudes I've met are awesome, I'm sure there are others that have been huge bummers.

Note: Andrew Cannon is a bit of a goofball, but I can't really imagine him being mean. And, I hate to defend D-Way, but he was nice both times I met him.

I met Jereme Rogers on a Girl tour back in the day, when Malto and Capaldi were still kinda flow . People would swarm and try to stop him mid demo to sign hats and boards and he would turn them down and say the signing is AFTER the demo. He'd continue skating the demo and people in the crowd were like "he's such an asshole, he wouldn't sign my board". I think he's more down to earth than people think. At least back then

Even though the other thread is popular right now, "flash in the pan" is a hella weird saying for a skater to say and coming from an account called generic white skate. You're trying to sound like some old white red neck. My spidey senses are tingling. Now we have this bullshit thread.

We're low key giving shout outs to skaters who don't need shout outs and relishing in unnecessary negativity. Not feeling it. 5 posts and two threads.

I have a funny one, not a bad encounter at all but in 2016 i met a lot of skaters at vans park series brazil step (Grant, p-stone, hosoi, phelps, kowalski, fardell, hassam, tim o connor, Ronnie Sandoval). I was the only dude who could speak english so i was translating for everyone and there was a crackhead girl who asked me to translate what she was trying to say to Omar hassan. She was wanting to take him to her house and he was telling me he didn't want to and she was fucking desperate to take him home.

I saw Heath Kirchart at a grocery store in Melbourne years ago. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything.
He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?”
I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Milky Ways in his hands without paying.
The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter.
When she took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.

This is not the most captivating story, but one time about four years ago I was cycling the Santa Ana River trail around late afternoon, almost dusk, and came upon part of the Element team trying to film at a spot (no one really got anything, unless it was before I arrived).

This wasn't the wide open "Skip's Ditch" portion of the river either, this was under the Garden Grove Boulevard bridge; it's narrower, the trail curves, and there's lower visibility. This is the highest traffic time of day, bicycle-wise, and the shadows are long and dark. While everyone else is minding themselves pretty well, Madars Apse decides that all he wants to do is skate flatground directly under the bridge where he's shrouded in total darkness until the last second from all incoming cyclists taking the roll in down directly at him, and he can't really see them until they're hurtling at him.

There were no true close calls, but it was pretty shitty. I saw had old ladies panicking and swerving (but recovering), you had serious cyclists riding with good speed having to veer into the oncoming lane...and he never made an attempt to move. There were no true close calls due to luck, but basically every cyclist he encountered was panicking –– it was entitled and gross. He stayed there for a long time too. I yelled over to him to knock it off from where I stopped to watch for a minute, but he just ignored me. I wasn't really in the mood, so I kept on riding, but it was definitely a display of bad character.

Also gotta chime in to say Andrew Cannon is one of the friendliest pros I've ever met, so I think the other poster must have taken that comment the wrong way. That would be really out of character for him to be rude to anyone.

Here's a funny story that makes the skater seem like a dick, but I think he's more just fried...

So, to preface this, I used to ride for Osiris in Canada back in the day and went on part of the Aftermath tour with the american team. I've met Brandon Turner before that when I would skate with his cousin in San Diego, but on that tour we also chatted a bit from time to time. Fast forward about 15 years, and one morning I'm skating at Poods in Encinitas kind of early to beat the crowd. There's a few guys skating there that I've gotten to know, and we're all hanging at one end chatting in between trying tricks on the main ledge. At one point, Brandon shows up, and when he comes over he gives a familiar what's up knuckles to the other 4 guys, but when he got to me he just looked at me kind of confused and gave a half limp wrist in my general direction from 4 feet away and then went back to a solid knuckles for the next dude. I think everyone noticed and kind of had an awkward look on their faces, but it was honestly just funny as shit to me. I don't give a shit if Brandon remembers me, but if that's his reaction to an unfamiliar face amongst 4 others he seems to know well, he's definitely a bit awkward. Lol. He's fried.

I’ve met a lot of pros and the only dude who I got weird vibes from was Provost last year, and he wasn’t even an asshole. Just quiet and stayed by the van at a demo, kept looking at me weird too. I had skated DOS bowl with him and GT like 15 years ago when I was 10 and they were both super rad and trying to get me to push myself. I doubt he recognized me but that’s the only reason I can think of why he was muggin so hard lol.

I had skated DOS bowl with him and GT like 15 years ago when I was 10 and they were both super rad and trying to get me to push myself. I doubt he recognized me but that’s the only reason I can think of why he was muggin so hard lol.

I too doubt that someone who met you once when you were 10 years old would recognize you as a 25 year old man.

I also don't know that "vibes" constitute being a jerk. Seems like falling into the jerk category requires some sort of proactive behavior.  If someone "vibes" you, I'd just brush it off and keep going.

I never really tried to talk to any pro skaters so all interactions were organic, but I will say that Ryan Hickey embarrassed me twice on two separate occasions. In the 90s it wasn’t cool to make sounds when someone did something dope. Usually I would abide by this but the two occasions I did not Ryan was there to mock me.

1.) Hackettstown skate park. Saw Kareem Campbell Float a bs 180 over a fun box. I let out a ‘ooh’ and Ryan, standing with a homie copied my sound and then discussed how lame it was I reacted to what he must see all the time.
2.) few months later me and my friends are at the banks and MUSKA was killing the rail in a wife beater, cargo pants, beanie -w- brim and back pack on. My friends and I couldn’t take it having just recently watched Uno and we were oohing and aahing on each trick. 50-50, tail to fakie (twice), lip slide all first try. Ryan was there with Hamilton Harris and a few other dudes and when we made a sound they made a sound right after mocking our enthusiasm.

I think they felt we were showing them up on their home turf but the MUSKA in 96’ at the banks. Come on.

Ryan’s interview is pretty funny and it got Ricky worked up. He seems like a jerk but I’m sure he wouldn’t back down if someone wanted to throw down so I respect his jerkdom.

Oh for sure, I didn’t leave thinking Provost was a jerk at all. Maybe I’m just that good looking, he couldn’t take his eyes off me;)

I grew up in SD so I’ve had my fair share of encounters with pros and industry peeps. Haha, spot on with the whole “they aren’t jerks you’re just weird” thing. Here are a few memorable ones, though:

Dan Murphy - Saw him at a bar during the Mystery days and always liked his skating back then so I bought him a pint and told him he had a sick nollie hardflip. He was definitely flexing his Nike sponsorship to random strangers and I got a chuckle out of that. Not really a jerk but he didn’t thank me for the beer.

Danny Way - Similar experience to others that have posted already, D Way was actually super nice and engaging in conversation when I met him at a random, downtown SD bar/lounge after a Padres game. But he had a spooky disposition about him. It wasn’t until years later that I heard about the ‘incident’ in the early 90’s (on Slap, of course) and it all made perfect sense.

Slash - Met him during the Ride The Sky days and when I asked what he was filming for next he told me he was injured. When I further inquired about what specifically he simply responded with something like “Everything” and then left with the hottest girl at the bar. Big fan after that. Hope he’s doing alright!

Micheal Burnett - I worked at BevMo back in college and he came in to buy a keg. Although there was never any acknowledgement of me recognizing him, he just gave off major asshole vibes and never once made eye contact. Burnout definitely bummed me out and I never really saw Thrasher the same since. This also may have been the year David Gonzalez won SOTY, though, and that was a double whammy. Conversely, Uncle Freddy came in while I worked there and he was a delight!

Billy Marks.

I was at a local Active signing about 5 years ago and brought along two sets of a dozen ping pong balls. He only signed one ball when I SPECIFICALLY ask him to sign all 24 of them. He blew me off so I went to the back of the line again and when I got to the front I STERNLY yet POLITELY asked him to sign the rest of my balls. He laughed and gave me a pair of Toy Machine socks as some sort of consolation as he went to the next person. I was so angry, I didn't want the socks, I wanted my ping pong balls signed because of the potential valuable investment they would be in the future.

So I waited for that prick in the parking lot afterward. He eventually came out and walked to his car to go leave so I quickly hopped in my car and drove up really close. That's when I flashed him my penis and threw a large vanilla milkshake right at his back windshield. I then sped off out of the parking lot for obvious safety reasons. Because you know what? It takes enlightened individuals like myself to set the balance of society straight. He should have just signed my ping pong balls and learned something called RESPECT.

This is such bullshit. Hilarious bullshit.

Wow, he really played himself. That's funny. Thanks for sharing.

I think Danny Way has gotten a more mellow attitude in maturity. Seems nice every time I saw him around town...

That sounds like he was trying to be self deprecating and maybe it came out like an insult. He’s a nice dude.

Most of these stories sound like you guys acting like awkward weirdos and the pros not wanting to talk to you. I feel like Larry fucking David reading this shit. They aren't jerks. You guys are just weird.
This; some of these stories boil down to “I saw this pro at this spot; he didn’t even look at me or say hi to me; he’s a dick”, or “I saw this pro, he said hi to me but it was such a half assed hi, he’s a dick”. Some pros probably just want to keep to themselves or just want to squeeze in a quick sesh and get the hell out of there without being bothered; we should be glad if they even say “hi” at all, they don’t even know who you are, they don’t even owe you a “hi” at all when it comes down to it. All the more power to the ones who do say hi and are friendly back, but if they aren’t I won’t crucify them for it. What makes a pro a dick to me? When they go out of their way to berate you or insult you for no reason (after skimming the thread the only one I saw that really fits that was the Ryan Hickey story), if they don’t respect your stuff (I’ve seen dudes at my park move other people’s stuff without asking or take other peoples wax or skate tool and just imagining a pro doing something like that would make them a grade A piece of shit), or doing something that could potentially cause physical harm to others (the Madars story fits that one). Oh yeah, and if a pro didn’t try to sexually assault you that’d be pretty cool as well.

Andrew Cannon is not a dick, he’s a dork.

An old friend of mine had a little company going called “witchburner” and he was wearing the shirt at a world industries demo at my local park. Cannon loved the shirt and ended up buying a shirt and deck off him. Apparently he was an English professor and planned on using the shirt and board as a visual aide in a lecture about the witch hunts.

What the fuck did you just fucking say about me, you little bitch? I'll have you know I graduated top of my class in the Navy Seals, and I've been involved in numerous secret raids on Al-Quaeda, and I have over 300 confirmed kills. I am trained in gorilla warfare and I'm the top sniper in the entire US armed forces. You are nothing to me but just another target. I will wipe you the fuck out with precision the likes of which has never been seen before on this Earth, mark my fucking words. You think you can get away with saying that shit to me over the Internet? Think again, fucker. As we speak I am contacting my secret network of spies across the USA and your IP is being traced right now so you better prepare for the storm, maggot. The storm that wipes out the pathetic little thing you call your life. You're fucking dead, kid. I can be anywhere, anytime, and I can kill you in over seven hundred ways, and that's just with my bare hands. Not only am I extensively trained in unarmed combat, but I have access to the entire arsenal of the United States Marine Corps and I will use it to its full extent to wipe your miserable ass off the face of the continent, you little shit. If only you could have known what unholy retribution your little "clever" comment was about to bring down upon you, maybe you would have held your fucking tongue. But you couldn't, you didn't, and now you're paying the price, you goddamn idiot. I will shit fury all over you and you will drown in it. You're fucking dead, kiddo.
What the fuck did you just fucking say about me, you little kook? I'll have you know I tre flipped my local 6 stair, I've landed several stylish switch tricks, and I can do every blindside trick in skate. I am trained in flip tricks in to rails and I'm the top skater in the entire suburb. You are nothing to me but just another poser. I will kook you out with precision the likes of which has never been seen before in skating, mark my fucking words. You think you can get away with saying fs board is blindside to me over the Internet? Think again, fucker. As we speak I am contacting likeminded skaters across reddit and your clips are being scrutinized right now so you better prepare for the gatekeeping, maggot. The real skaters that vibe out the pathetic little thing you call your skills. You fucking suck , kid. I can do any blindside trick, anytime, and I can flip in to bs lip seven hundred ways, and that's just with my regular stance. Not only am I extensively trained in switch tricks, but I have access to every real skater and I will use them to kook your miserable ass off the face of the slap messageboards, you little shit. Ooooh, here's another old one. I was cool with the person after the initial incident, but it's a funny story.

The day I moved out west to Vancouver I got a job at, and moved into, the Clubhouse skatepark (Colin skates it in Second Hand Smoke - the one with the elevated trailer home in the background). One day, Sam Devlin wants to get up to some shit so apparently he found a bike that was laying around and hucked it up onto the roof of the warehouse. I didn't even know about it until later when Sarah (one of the owners) told me Sam had thrown her bike on the roof. Then she went and flipped out on him. A few minutes later, when I'm skating near the open bay door leading out to the courtyard, Sam comes over looking super angry and grabs me by the collar of my shirt and pushes me outside, telling me he's gonna kick my ass for being a rat and telling Sarah it was him who threw her bike on the roof. Now, Sam is a sketchy dude, he looks sketchy too. But he's not big. Still, I was only 18 and had no idea why he thought that and was trying to tell him but he was having none of it. That is, until Ben Nichol came over and pulled him off of me and told him it wasn't me. Sam was cool with me ever since, but from that day forward I had a lot of respect for Ben Nichol. Nicest guy, fucking ripper too.

Sam never had a fair shake, his life was hard from day one so I never really held anything against him.

Well he does drink beer like 24/7 nowadays so...

I think 95% of the pros/ams I have seen in person have been 5'6-5'8 and malnourished. .
Most have been cool, but I knew at a very young age pros were not to be put on a pedestal. Show them respect like any other human.
McCrank was a sweetheart the one time I talked to him, and won the demo without acting like a super hero.

And McCrank is the greatest. I completely forget that he was on Birdhouse for a moment. Same with Appleyard.

I guess being nice to everyone is key but arent the people who are so stressed about wanting to have a good convo and lasting Impression on a random Person who happens to be good at skating fucking dumb?

Get of their dicks, hang out with your friends and enjoy the skating and stop making them feel like heroes

Reading through this topic feels like a pile of stories of hometown flow skater gossip lies ."Yeah i get shoes from cons, been skating with the whole Crew every now n then, sages pretty chill but he once punched a dog and he cant read well. Pretty Strange if you ask me"

Angel Ramirez and TNT were so full of themselves it immediately turned me off from getting too close.

Was in Carbondale 03’ for what was to be the initial KOTR and I was talking with Dan D and the DLXSF dude’s at the park some how me and Tony was still babbling on about something he was doing and I looked around for my friends and he snubbed me like, yeah dude you should probably find them....

Angel Ramirez not so much anything he said as he’s one of those dude’s that not much going on upstairs maybe a horny crippling rat in a wheel, barely functioning.

Anyways it’s around 07’ and cataclysmic abyss dropped he was definitely feeling his self he got the pro board moment at 303 boards. butttttt I think it went to his head and he flew too close to the sun.

As he got dropped off by Sinclair next video WTF! I believe Sierra Fellers took his spot. Like I said it wasn’t anything he said just his smugness gave me a bad impression, too many yes men and women feeding their egos makes someone uncomfortable.

The burnside tribe is an interesting one depending on the day you're there. Red and Germ have tried to flex on me one day but then have been great the next. Q-man, Pigpen, and Brent were always dicks.

Q-Man actually gave me my second board ever. He’s always been rad to me and kicked it with my dad sometimes but I haven’t seen him in like 10 years.

Damn. That sucks. He seems so cool.

I once prank called Mike Mo right after Fully Flared came out and he forced me to change my number. This was back in 2008.

My friend’s ex had dated Mike and, I believe after they both realized how shitty that girl was, bonded. One night, we’re getting drunk and he casually says, “who wants to call Mike Mo?”. I jump at the opportunity while borderline blacked out on Jim Beam.

Phone picks up and he says, “Hello?”
Without skipping a beat, I start to go off on a fucking tangent about how every other part in that video was better than his. This is like 15-30 minutes of me talking at him and he not saying a word. Getting 0 reaction, I eventually got bored and said bye. He laughs a couple of times and says bye.

I fall asleep on my friends bong-water stained floor and wake up with a massive headache and a phone that won’t stop buzzing (A Motorola Razor). I open it and have something like 200 missed calls and countless text message. As I open to even check what they’re saying, the phone keeps buzzing. I start picking up the calls, so hungover that my teeth hurt, and proceed to have people from all over the country and world tell me I’m a piece of shit. After 3 days of nonstop calls and texts, I threw in the towel and changed my number.

As it turns out, Mike posted my number on his Myspace page right after I hung up, simply saying “Call this number, over and over again”. Nothing more than that.

So, yeah, I’m a fucking jerk in real life.

dang, myspace. havent heard that one in a long time. but to be fair, you werent necessarily wrong about the fully flared part. and in all honesty, he was probably crying while he typed up that shit on myspace. furthermore, your actions were unsolicited and therefore, make the story even better. imagine "chillin" at home with your girlfriend when you suddenly get a phone call from a phone number unknown to you. you pick it up and the person on the other line just goes off on you about how the footage of your last 3 years of skating was complete garbage. after spending all those hours, miles, freakouts, etc on that one video part your soul gets crushed from that one phone call. if i ever make it to ripe old age of "slap pal,"(although highly unlikely) you will be my first "gnar."

Some of these stories are so cringey. No wonder this place has such a bad reputation with pros/industry people. Drunk prank calls, not getting recognized after 10 years, trying to bro down with pros at parks/spots. Are some of you not self aware at all?

Imagine being a pro skater or actor or basketball player and some random dude is trying to start a conversation with you. Fanning out, trying to connect and bond over their fandom of you. So awkward.

I've met and seen pros/celebrities before, but have enough self respect to not turn into a giant fanboy groupie in front of them. They're talented skateboarders, that's it. The hero worship on slap is insane at times.

Most of these stories sound like you guys acting like awkward weirdos and the pros not wanting to talk to you. I feel like Larry fucking David reading this shit. They aren't jerks. You guys are just weird.
Yep, it's especially obvious with the skater who was "nice to the guy who was really good at manuals" reality is skaters can tell who's really dedicated to skating and they respect each other, the saying real recognize real is well real. They can also tell the guys who've been "skating" for 8 years but haven't learned to tre flip like well most of slap.

I agree with the moral of people being wierd to pros and then calling them jerks for not being best friends with them really doesnt fit the bill here.

With that said - Kerry Getz for me is the worst person I ever meet. Thought he was supercool the first day, told me how great a skater I was, that I should come visit Philly etc. After a few weeks seeing him drunk, acting out, going to strip clubs, breaking boards in demos and walking out and having rage fits here and there I was over him. Almost ended up in a fight with him. He had given me a signed Nocturnal board, I binned that in the trash.

Eric Koston Ive meet 3-4 times and he has always comes of as a Jerk, but this has been on tours where Ive been the local "homie" and I know those people are hard to care for, so wont put to much on him for that.

Chris Pastras ive spent a week with on tour, dude was friendly but in an Iceblock kinda way, didnt care too much for him.

Most pros Ive meet actually been really friendly.

that doesnt surprise me juan bit. for fucks sake, his nickname is "hockey temper" after all. that alone is enough. whenever i see people freak out cuz they cant land a trick, i was always think, "maybe you should go play football or some stupid shit." it makes me think they dont actually enjoy skating at all. this especially goes for people whose livelihood doesnt depend on them landing a trick, aka non-sponsored.
and koston..........ha! some people should not reproduce.
as much as i like max schaaf and the fact that he "introduced" me to the possibility that skaters can do motorcycles, i cant help but think that he acts like a clique-y gooch everytime i talk to him. that could also be him being part of the "harley davidson chopper exclusive club" or whatever the fuck. steve cab also was super bummed when he saw that i was wearing half cabs, for some reason. that was awkward af. fun fact, max schaaf absolutely hates cab.

andy roy on the other hand, is an absolute sweetheart. i dont know if thats a big surprise to anyjuan, but whatever. when i seen him at a king diamond concert in 2015-ish, i asked him if i could get a photo of him for my instagram and without any hesitation, he happily obliged and for some reason pulled up his shirt and showed me his nipples. he also demanded that i get in the photo with him. no offense of any kind but he is the textbook definition of a "nice idiot." and with that, i will take a "nice idiot," over a "smart asshole" any fucking day of the week.

Your English is quite good but neglecting to use the past tense of "meet" ("met") shows your International hand a little (that and calling yourself the "local homie"). It reads well though. So where you from, buddy? I like the cut of your jib. Brazil? Somewhere in Eastern Europe? China?

Your English is quite good but neglecting to use the past tense of "meet" ("met") shows your International hand a little (that and calling yourself the "local homie"). It reads well though. So where you from, buddy? I like the cut of your jib. Brazil? Somewhere in Eastern Europe? China?

Yeah, sorry for that. Im from Sweden  :)

Wider was a dope guy. Skated with him at cherry park and was really nice. Gave me props on a trick I was trying and easy to talk to.

Have to agree with Wimer being a nice guy.  Skated with him a handful of times and he always chats me up.  Definitely the best skater I have ever seen in person, but still humble about it, which is nice.

I've always heard Jamie Thomas was a dick but my encounters with him have always been nice as well.

Donovon Piscopo once came through the town I live in with a few nike guys and bitched about every spot he was taken to.

[close]

That’s exactly what it sounds like.
Andrew is undoubtedly one of the nicest dudes and definitely not a name I’d expect to see first thing in this thread.

Also another poster said Paul Hart and again, very very nice and respectful dude when I ran into him a few months back

To answer the thread, Adrien Lopez sized me up at a work event earlier this year and wouldn’t move when I tried to get to the beer table.  Very cool guy  ::)

Isn't Adrien Lopez basically a midget?

With that said - Kerry Getz for me is the worst person I ever meet. Thought he was supercool the first day, told me how great a skater I was, that I should come visit Philly etc. After a few weeks seeing him drunk, acting out, going to strip clubs, breaking boards in demos and walking out and having rage fits here and there I was over him. I was skating in one of the Vancouver parks one fall day with a coach jacket with ‘anti bling’ stenciled in the back, minding my own business, when this jockish bro comes up to me, right in my face saying ‘So what, you are anti-bling? Does that me you’re anti-Me?!?’ while pulling out his gold chain with a red dragons logo on it.

It was so surreal how aggressive he was and just trying to start shit over nothing I was speechless.

I’m not saying who it is, just because I hope this asshole fades into obscurity, but yeah, a ‘pro’.

Anyone from Vancouver could probably figure it out.

I was managing a skateshop at the time and I had to interview many pros from DC visiting Santiago.
They were pretty tired since they partied the whole night because Mike Mo bday but they were all super nice except for this dick.
Since almost all brazilians can speak Spanish I asked him if he preferred to talk in spanish rather than english and dude was annoyed af just because I asked. Then everytime I'll ask sth he would roll his eyes.

Mike Hastie comes to mind. He would always skate around the park with this hood up and had the worst attitude, like he was pissed at every kid that would get near him. Super unapproachable vibes.

Of the RDS guys I can confirm that Paul Mach and Chris Haslam were both solid though. They never talked down to anyone and just felt like a part of the crew. I remember paul rolling up in his BWM with his gold RDS chain when I was a kid and was super intimated but he gave us all fist bumps and sat down just to talk. He'd then get up and noseblunt the biggest rail in the park with ease. Both good guys.

Longtime ago 02' I was working at this shop in North Georgia Flip came through town and the redneck bmx owner had a back room for late night poker parties other sketchy stuffs.

So it's a daytime demo and they were going north afterwards but most of the OG Flip guys Rowley Arto and Salabanzi along with Alex Chalmers are skulking around the touring van and I guess Bastien wasn't feeling it with the locals and their accents.

I'm working that weekend and I see him in the back room like what's up man you good?! Why don't you come hangout or drink some beers he's like naww I'm good . Okay I go back a few hours later and I'm kinda loaded I ask again like hey man I'm curious how you pronounce your name like Basschion or Basteeeon?

He has say's in a really really heavy french accent and I'm like dude I'm not an idiot just asking because some kids are hyped for you. He's like leave me alone, I tell all the kids hey man Bastion is back here if you want to talk to him. Guy's a primadonna for sure.

Max Schaaf came here to Honozulu and he was kool as fuck. Perhaps it’s you?

yep it's me. the case is solved.

This is what I'm saying. Most of these stories are "I'm weird and I was weird to a pro and he didn't immediately offer to be my best friend, so he's a jerk."

It was so surreal how aggressive he was and just trying to start shit over nothing I was speechless.

Obviously since I wasn't there and this might have still been in his drinking days, I have no idea of how condescending his tone may have been, but it reading it and knowing what little I do about Andrew, it reads like he was just trying to make fun of himself. Referencing the "real pros" sounds like him kind of saying that he's not sure how he fits in to that description.

Now, all of my interactions with him have been through social media both in main threads and dm's, and he's always been super friendly and open, and to me seems like a rad dude to hang with these days. Like I said though, back in those days might have been another story, as something ultimately led him to give up drinking, and it probably wasn't because he was the most fun dude in the room.

Diva complex at its finest.

For 2 years in the mid 2010s, I managed the Vans park in Orange. Every year, around Pool Party time, all these washed up mother fuckers come from far and wide to drop the “don’t you know who I am?” act. I could go on for hours. Biggest dicks:

- PLG (no surprises there) - got mad that we were sold out of a certain style of knee pad and said we were making it hard for him to skate.
- Hosoi (again, no surprises) - acted like he forgot the park closed at 10 every night and would stay out there with his kids until 10:45 while everyone was clearly trying to go home.
- Bucky Lasek...there was a small crack in the coping and he said to me “I don’t know if you know this, but cracks aren’t good for skateboarding.”
- Jordan Richter - can’t remember exactly what he got mad about, but to his credit he actually ended up trying to apologize to me by giving me a set of those hammer in bolts.
- CJ Collins/his dad - in fairness to CJ he was like 12 at the time, but he stole an employees credit card and used it at a few different places, spit at employees, and was overall just a little shit. His dad is a Joe Rieder type, so again, hard to truly hold any of that against CJ.

But if you think pros can be jerks, try having to deal with people that are friends with/related to them. Moral of the story is don’t work at the skatepark for more than a few years.

Can't confirm about Danny Way. But Mike Carroll was a drunk asshole at a demo the stay flared demo in Milwaukee probably about 2014-2015? Like it's one thing to get drunk on tour... It's another thing to be belligerently drunk talking to literal children at the demo. Shits whack.

-Brian Delatorre sucked ass. He was at the skatepark he was sponsored by (this was before MIA) everyday and was cocky af and thought he was the shit. Always snaking people so he could just kickflip the pyramid over and over. Skated some ledges at a school with him and his ledge skills and flatground were pathetic. We always laughed at the fact he tried to fight my friend for some stupid reason. Ipath grasshoper wearing motherfucker. His part in the Satori video was dope though.

-Lindsey Robertson wasn't a jerk but he was weird. He was sponsored by the same park as Dela. I met him there one day and my friend started asking him questions (this was right after Dying to live came out) and he just looked uncomfortable and answered everything with "yeah? Yeah...  ...yeah". That's the only word he used the entire conversation, kinda like how I talk to my kid when I'm reading slap and not really paying attention to what he's saying. I've heard PJ Ladd is a jackass.

I had the exact opposite experience ca. 2002. I had come down to Skaters Island from NH, sporting a Penny mushroom graphic & black spray-painted éS Artos. He happened to have the same board (he just got on Flip) & black suede Artos. I did a kickflip to fakie on the big roll in & he gave me a little clap. After that, I had to mention the coincidence of having the same shoes & board, he gave me a little laugh & a few kind words (he killed the park too by the way). We ended up skating the vert flatground & as a 13 year old east coast kid in the post-WHL era it was something that always left a good impression on me. I'm not sure what he is like now, but the skateboard industry killed the once innocent PJ Ladd.

My friends had some bad experiences with Lee Berman, said he was a fucking dick.

Timmy Kenuth once barged his way into my friends room during Tampa Am & demanded that he stay in the room for free because he was a better skater.

In the same camp as the aforementioned Kenuth, Anthony Shetler wasn't as nice as his ethos would make him seem. Meet him & his "crew" at a spot in Providence once & said some kind words, resulting in kind of a snubby vibe.

In the time I worked in skating, the only things that stood out to me were the people who were actually really cool. The dicks? I forgot about them. Im sort of glad for that. Better to have good memories.

Honestly, one of the nicest, most generous people with their time and stuff was Muska. I doubt it's changed much, he seemed like he genuinely was a sweetheart. I worked on one big project with him and he was absolutely the coolest person ever.

Not a pro, and probably not somebody that is on anybody's radar, but Mike "Hashbrown" Schulze is a trash human being.
Dude used to share the same local as myself (Cloverdale in Surrey, BC) and continually did shit that crossed the line. Telling small children to "fuck off" just for them congratulating him on a trick, body-checking even smaller children (I'm talking five years or younger) off of the coping of a smaller quarterpipe by frontside slashing directly into them... hell, the guy karate kicked me in the shoulder for rolling past him as he botched a front crook on a skatepark out-ledge. All of his friends (Dustin Locke, Jordan Zazula, Steven Burke, etc.) were never anything but friendly, but that dude is a top-tier cunt.

Bobby D. and his cronies have poopy skatepark etiquette.

In other news, Spanly is one of the nicest human beings that I've met period. Wade D., Spencer Hamilton, Lee Yankou? All great guys that'll go out of their way to make even the biggest of skatepark dingi feel welcome.

What?! He karate kicked you because you skated by? This sounds highly suspect. Do you mean he actually kicked you as he botched the trick? Or he came up and kicked you after because you merely rolled past him? Not buying it.

What exactly do you think that I gain from bullshitting? Everybody else that I met/got to know out there were pretty excellent. Coupla fried Leeside/Hastings locals, but nothing compared to that dude.

Andy MAC refused to skate a demo setup we had because all the ramps were below 4’ but Channita, Rodney Jones, Mike minitas and John Comer held it down

Well he is a vert skater.under 4 foot ramps would probably seem like a waste of time to him

Great contribution . a dude nobody's ever heard of in Canada

That's wild. What a weird thing to do. He's always been super polite any time I've had interactions with him over the last decade.

I've heard countless people tell bullshit stories about people they don't like, for the purpose of tarnishing that person's rep, since they don't like them. That's what someone could gain from bullshitting, but I assume you may have even spent more time around Mike than me since you shared the same local park, so maybe I shouldn't say I don't buy it - just sounds very odd. Nothing excuses a kick, but getting flustered at someone who hasn't been paying much attention and getting in the way happens A LOT at parks... I guess I'm a bit suspicious there's more to the story along those lines. I wasn't there though, so this will just be a funny anecdote to mention next time I see him, lol. I'll report back...

Edit: not trying to say you're some idiot grom - I have a good friend who is unfortunately the most oblivious guy on the session and always getting in the way/snaking/cutting me off. It drives me nuts.

I guess I should have also mentioned that this all happened over five years ago. People change, hopefully for the better.
I certainly didn't set out to start a smear campaign against the guy, I've just never met anybody so consistently unpleasant in my life. The way he treated kids (to be fair, they are obnoxious, but again, they're children) was far more infuriating than anything he ever did against me.

Again, I really hope the dude has changed for the better. I don't like dragging peoples' names through the mud, but shit, credit where credit is due am I right?

Told this story before: Watched Nyjah deny a little kid and his dad an autograph in the grass parking lot at a Tampa Pro a few years ago. Said "No I have to get in there they're announcing the finals". Me and dad just looked at each other like wtf? I yelled at Nyjah "Doesn't matter, Busenitz won anyway!" Which he did.

Well, Jayme didn’t live with his parents, he bought the house that they live in.

Having spent some time around the guy I thought the same ... was a saying his trick was not worth the praise

Koston. Granted it was a signing and scribbling your name on every other kids shirt and throwaway poster is a terrible way to spend an hour of your life. But every single time ive had a pro model board for someone to sign theyve made an effort to atleast acknowledge i chose theirs and spent money to do so. I guess kostons seen enough of his own boards, signed it as quick as needed to get right back into his conversation, did even look up, completely put me off the guy. Petty maybe. But it was the complete opposite response i got from a fellow team rider not 10 seconds prior for the same thing.

It went in a cupboard, meant almost nothing to me afterwards, sold it for less than i paid some years later almost on principle. This coupled with watching the guy perform at any chance possible when a cameras aiming his way, seems like a kook, acts like one. Probably a kook. Still a legend.

Dane Burman. Hit and miss, he was in town on a volcom trip with arto and another name i cant remember at a local spot 15 away. Dm’d the guy expecting no response, he said yeh well be here for half hour, for sure stop by and say hi. Unexpected tbh. Friendly. Fast forward 3 years later, cops are bastards, everyones a racist, having even slight disagreements with me and my views means your everything wrong with the world. Hilariously odd dude. Probably pretty nice if you got to know him. Critical thinking not a strong point.

Beyond that, ive toured with bands and spent 4 weeks sitting in a van driving to uninteresting places to spent in a venue surrounded by people and skipping the coolest parts of town. It was a still a privilege to experience it but i get the sitting in a corner on your own feeling and just wanting nothing to do with people. Its ultra tough to truly relax in that world. You might have a hotel room or atleast a bed for 8 hours but its just not a few hours at your own house in your own bed to relax and settle. So i cant fault people too much.

The Chief. True gentleman. More than happy to chat. Appreciative of everyone wanting to offer a hello. Business aspect different story but thats how companies run sometimes.

Vallely. Embraced connecting with anyone and everyone. If you took the time to wait to say hello after the demo he took the time to chat till everyone was done.

Biebel. That upbeat personality is ultra fun to pick on from the gram, but at the very least its the real him, and in person ive never met a friendlier human being.

The Ron Allen thing isn't true, I have hung out with him and had a good time laughed and shot the shit for a while. I haven't really had a shitty experience with anyone to be honest just those awkward but not bad ones. My friend hates Mark Appleyard, thinks he's the worst and the story is  hilarious.

Feast Beast East tour or whatever, Shane Cross days, my friend brings an OG Lance board to get signed. Lance had just gotten on Flip and was stoked to see that board in such good shape, super nice and signs it. Apples is like 'Sick! Can I see that?' My friend is like 12 and is like sure. Mark grabs a sharpie and signs it even bigger than Lance did as soon as it gets handed to him. Kid is in shock and Mark just passes it down the line, the rest of the team starts signing it. The whole time I'm sure my friend was just fuming watching the idiocy. Always complains about the ruined value. Cracks me up.

Ron Allen. Always in a sour mood, always a shitty attitude (...)

^I don’t wanna believe!

No fuckin' way !!!

One time (2011 I think) Ron showed up at my small insignificant local park. I was the only person there who knew who he was - I was honestly astounded. Why the fuck is Ron Allen skating at my hometown park ?! In VIRGINIA ?!

Anyway, I lost my mind watching him effortlessly ooze that same H-Street era swagger on some wedge ramp slashers, some heelflips and pop shuvits up the bank (it's a small park that pretty much rotates around this bank). After 20 minutes or so I approached him (mind you at this time I was a very haggard stoner and I'm sure the average person would've told me rightfully to fuck right of) and told him how much I love his tricks in my old tapes, how much I love his style and legacy etc. - he was so cool. Told me he was in the area to judge a Maloof (wow what a time that was) contest the following weekend, so he was touring local parks in the radius. He was fucking chill, and super friendly. Somewhat chuffed to see a fan in the middle of nowhere. Probably geeked that I was so excited ;D

Anyway that's a mouthful but I had to share my Ron Allen story cause he's one of my favorites and that shit was mind blowing. I've never before or since seen a pro show up to the local - let alone Ron Fucking Allen , by himself, on like a Tuesday, in the middle of Virginia.

So cool :)

EDIT: YES he did an airwalk and YES it was epic 8)

I’ve met a lot of pros and the only dude who I got weird vibes from was Provost last year, and he wasn’t even an asshole. Just quiet and stayed by the van at a demo, kept looking at me weird too. I had skated DOS bowl with him and GT like 15 years ago when I was 10 and they were both super rad and trying to get me to push myself. I doubt he recognized me but that’s the only reason I can think of why he was muggin so hard lol.
It seems like you stared at him quite a bit too, dude.

CJ Collins' dad is fried, I feel bad for that kid. Randomly met him at a contest. Had no idea who he was, but while wasted at like noon he made sure I knew who his kid was and how wild last night was.

Shout out Jordan Richter for the Randoms peace offering. That's great.

I heard he's a Satanist  that tries to push it on to everyone as well. he's  a kook

SPoT was my local in early/mid 2000s so lots of interesting stories…
PJ Ladd was a dick at a demo once, refused to skate and a little kid came up to him for an autograph and he said no and it pissed Clements off. Why even come to the demo?

Dyrdek while filming Street Dreams, no explanation needed. So cringe.

Yonnie Cruz has always been a douche bag.

Shit, my brain isn’t working anymore at the moment. But some good experiences: Navs, Svitak, Trujillo surprisingly was super nice, Alfaro, and Todd Jordan. Todd was the ultimate sweetheart.

Leo Romero- rolled up to the park and had to take a leak. First time there, I ask a dude where’s the ’froom.. it was Leo, he gave me such a look of disgust, for I assume was my not recognizing him.

Carroll blocked me from Furry and Girl because I made a comment about how they keep losing riders to drugs… still blocked.

PJ - fanned out on him at Whole Foods while I was working the bakery. I think it weirded him out to be recognized at the grocery store.. he was cool though.

Koston/Guy- during filming for Fully Flared- fanned on them at ValSurf. They were both totally cool (seemed surprised) so my hands and said thanks.

Koston/KB are my favorites.

I’ll go back to lurking now, you guys have a nice day

Neil Blender was kind of a jerk to me when he was doing a signing at Sunshine House in the Marley Station Mall back in the late 80s (I think).
He was signing pictures and handing out stickers so I asked him if he would sign my G&S wristband. He raised such a stink about it but he did actually sign it for me after my dad said something to the effect like “just sign the kids fucking bracelet”. He seemed pretty bummed but he did it and gave me a big stack of stickers.
So, kind of a jerk (understandably so) and kind of not.

This story needs a bump, cracked me up.

Well, Jayme didn’t live with his parents, he bought the house that they live in.

Jayme, did you forget the password to your old account?

I wasn't going to say anything because it's weird to call someone a dick when you never really knew them in the first place and haven't seen them in 20 years, but whatever. When I saw this thread back up, Jayme was the first person that came to mind.

Used to see him regularly in the late 90's and he was always a dick, which is fine. Overly nice people are fuckin creeps. But one time at the Salem fairgrounds park a little kid rode in front of him right as he was about to throw his board down and he spit at him. Landed on the kid's back. It's so ridiculous in hindsight that it's kinda funny. Again, whatever, I'm sure you're a nice guy Jayme and your Audi was tight.

Matt Beach was just quiet and awkward. He's by far the best skater I've ever seen in person in all 30 years of skating. Doesn't get enough credit. And Dave Hupp is a legend and the nicest guy ever.

Out of the few pros I have met Jarne was definitely the worst one.
We both entered the same contest and he wouldn't say a word to nobody except his friends and the local girls.
He then would hang around at the bar, trying to show everyone that he's sober by not buying anything to drink, not even water. He would only get on the bartenders nerves. He was constantly asking for (free) hot water he could but in his ramen noodles he bought at the gas-station.

TONY TRUJILLO :

When i was 14 i went to Barcelona with my twin to skate and ended up at Macba for the first time, an utterly drunk Tony T and Frank Grewer where sitting in a corner, im on the phone with my mom and out of nowhere tony kicks a full bottle of gatorade toward me and my brand new deck, the bottle hits my board and me.. and my deck is fucked, i look at them and they are dying laughing lol.. there is still some gatorade in the bottle and i put the bottle back up and kick it straight back to them and the left over gatorade spills all over tony.. he gets up and screams all crazy.. frank restrains him and calms him down.. i hear him tell tony " bro chill he is just a kid " .. i laugh at tony at skate away.. couple years later i get into a discussion with his wife on IG... just a sad drunk family.

Jamie Thomas :

Zero/Mystery a Demo in Europe, Amsterdam.. Me and my twin got picked out to help with the product toss..which was crazy cause we heard stories about the chief being a cock, but imagine, being 15 and getting picked out but the chief to help with a product toss and throwing hella shit away.. hoodies, shirts, sticker, decks etc.. eventually one of my other homies tried to grab/steal a shirt and the chief saw it and smacked his hand away and got all mad.. obviously my buddy never liked zero or the chief again. i ended up throwing so much stuff to my homies in the crowd :)

Chris Cole :

He was at the same demo, went to him mid demo (which was stupid to think about it) he signed my shirt and told me " you think the crowd would go crazy if i do this first try? " and before i could answer he did a kickflip fs 50 first go down a crazy rail.. and yes. the crowd went nuts, really cool dude.

Colt Cannon :

He said he didnt understand why they but Nyjah on the cover of the elementality video lol!

Danny Cerezini :

Met him at a X-Games, and he got silver that year with a a best trick or a run.. cant remember but i asked for a photo and he said only if he could get a cigarette and one for Luan aswell.. gave them the ciggies and took a photo.. nice dude :)

Stevie Williams :

I went to the Berrics a long time ago and when i got there for the first time, Stevie is in front of a black rolls royce wraith and giving his accountant a really hard time on the phone hehe.. legendary

dude its not just pros... like 99.9% of people on planet earth are fucking KOOKS

skate scenes are jsut full of over inflated egos and kook city

no one actually willing to help you out when it comes down to it

there are 2 mini ramps locally i could be skating in the winter but since i am not one of the bros its not happening. fucking wack that people in my area i have skated with like 10+ years i write them a message just asking if i could get a contact for the guy who owns the ramp... read the message and wont even reply!! smh

try to do events all the time message 30-40 guys to come to a session and lucky if 1-2 show up. usually its 0.

back in the day killed it in contests but always put to the bottom because i was nerdy and not as social as the others. i wasnt a male model either. at first i was like "meh its just subjective i guess" but then when after the contest MULTIPLE people are coming up to you saying "what did you get for first? what? you didnt even place?!?!" then it kinda sealed the deal for me... skateboarding is absolutely FULL OF KOOKS from top to bottom. fucking scooter scene LOSERS

My friend and I helped bring bags of concrete to boardertown, we skated it all the time, brought food for the BBQ, etc etc. Everyone was cool in that 2007-2010 Oakland scene like Albino and even Peabody (although he was awkward quiet).

My buddy is regular like Tony M and had better lines than him in his own park. Tony tried to say “we were cut”. We kept going and every time we saw Tony he would throw a bottle at us or say we needed to get him beer. He was the most pathetic, butthurt, manchild I’ve ever met in my life, not just in skateboarding. We had other encounters with him at Lower Bobs and a pool in the Oakland Hills.

I have met a lot of pros back then, either from demos or just random encounters at well known spots. Most of them seemed pretty cool for the most part. One that really came off as a jerk to me though was Ishod. I was really bummed because he was one of my favorite skaters at the time. I introduced myself, said I was a big fan of his skating, and attempted to shake his hand. He just gave me the most puzzled looking face, blew off my handshake and completely “cool guy’d” me. From that moment on I stopped being a fan of his and could care less about his skating now.

Mark Partain... late 80's. The dude laughed at me when I ate shit doing a backside boardslide. When I stood up, the sun was low in the sky and shining from behind me, he starts making fun of my ears because they stick out and he can see the sun glowing through my ears. Then he makes a few comments about my big teeth. I was about 12 years old and this crushed me. He then told me to practice falling some more. With my eyes getting all watery, I told him to fuck off and I split.

If both of these are true it made me love Chris Cole even more lmao what a geek.
While they'll never be the "cool guys of skateboarding" some pros just get branding and the importance of doing something small for them is huge for someone else.

I have definitely seen that behavior, but to be fair, he's been sober for a while now and has a family and a full time job.  You wouldn't even know he was the same person.  It's crazy.

That’s rad to hear. Nothing better than a dude turning it all around

SLAP posters: This one pro was actually super cool to me once at a demo.

Goddamnit!!!
I’m not trying to hear about your good times buddying down with pros Y & Z when the boom boom X league came to your town.
How about all of you happy-go-lickies go start a thread about the awesome, friendly pros you’ve met & leave the rest of us to grouse about that one awkward experience we had at an in-shop autograph signing when we were 12, okay?!?

Also, I have never not enjoyed bumping into Frank Gerwer whilst out & about. Knees of the bee, that fellow.

I’ll take your advice and compliment Nilton Neives (sorry spelling). Showed up at the Berkeley park ripped, was super cool.  Fast forward about  2 years later down at a asr trade show at a nearby restaurant where he is there with his lady and young daughter.  Dude shouts out me and my lady and introduce’s us to his family, my wife to this day loves that moment.  Nilton rules

I'm gonna give Reynolds benefit of the doubt for our interaction in 2014 in a little skatepark in northern NY.

He, Spanky and Herman were the only ones skating, yet seemed all zombified/didn't crack too may smiles or display any hype attitude for the kids. I believe they were toward the end of a tour so I imagine they were likely fried skating all these parks and doing tricks. I got a serious jerk vibe but could have approached Reynolds at an off time.

Neen, Dollin, Beagle, Neck, Riley, Figgy were all very chill and told jokes/mingled with everyone even if they weren't skating. TFunk disappeared somewhere, he very well could have got mixed up in the crowd of children I imagine.

Karma Tsocheff was a bitch, trying to pick a fight with me when he was drunk and noticed I didn't have an American accent.

That was in France.

I literally bumped into Sean Sheffey when he was getting some food at a buffet in the pro and press room at a big contest.

He spilled some food and I was sure he was going to kick my ass  He had already gotten into some fights that weekend,  I heard someone in the room say "uh-oh".

Then he smiled like a gentle giant and said something like "sorry bro."

Oof.

I crashed the Danny Way event where he dropped in off of the Hard Rock Hotel neon guitar in Las Vegas around 2006). Got to meet a few pros and interact with them, I had a VIP lanyard on just like them.

Mathias Ringstrom - Really cool, he was grabbed me by the shoulders and started swaying me left and right to explain how windy is was at the top of the mega roll-in ramp

Rune Glifburg - Preoccupied, I think he was pissed he couldn't land his Japan Air

Rob Dyrdek - Playing pool table with Big Black about 10 other people watching, constantly talking and telling stories. Pretty funny and totally how I pictured him in person.

PJ Ladd - Down at the Hard Rock Pool it was a private VIP party, super packed, tons of free booze, celebs and girls. PJ was sitting by himself away from the action drinking a Corona.

Danny Way and Bob Burnquist - In the VIP Penthouse they were in the dining room area having a glass and wine, in what looked like a serious conversation. I said "what's up" and tried to talk to them but they both gave me the quick nod. Made sense I think they were just catching up on life.

Right. I was scrolling through D Ways Insta a few months ago, Danny and Colin were in the front of the car (they always look like a happy gay couple together, they just always look really happy in each others company, I think their relationship has also outlasted several marriages of each)

Anyway, Danny then turns his phone to the back seat and there is Shef chilling and smiling, that clip had a good vibe

As i went out to bus some tables I stopped by their section and jokingly asked 'Where is the muska!?' Donny barley looked bummed but Evan Smith was super hyped and wanted me to come out to the demo the next day. Told him I didnt have a car and it was too far away, he seemed genuinely bummed haha. Didn't expect to like him as a person cause he was still in that lame phase where he had just turned pro and was a dork in my book

Nyjah back in 2014. Hollywood, Los Angeles right after an SLS stop he *barely* won on a borrowed Shane O'Neill's board. I had after party access to the spot (friend worked for SLS at the time) it was held at and saw him roaming around with ladies following him. He did not give one fuck about those women, whether they were groupies or his actual friends. Did not pay them any attention or give them time while walking around and interacting with people haha! Definitely got jerk vibes from him that night. I didn't even bother saying hi to him because I'm not a Nyjah fan.

I saw him in the bathroom go into a stall and presumably do some coke because his nose was extra itchy when he was washing up after.

Tony Miroana hands down this biggest asshole and Coke headed cool guy.

More Tmo Stories please

Tony was the hometown hero when i was growing up, and was usually pretty cool back in the day.  Absolute ripper.  Used to be vegan, listened to Joy Division, skated in dress shoes.  I remember skating downtown New Orleans one night and he rolled by out of nowhere, backside 50d up a handicap rail, and skated off without saying a word.

Then he moved to SF and decided he was gonna be Travis Bickle.  He was always cordial with me when I ran into him, but he was in a different kick then for sure.  He has a kid now, and I hear he’s sober and doing well/got his head on straight fwiw.

A friend and I were at Agenda as buyers a few years back and we ran into Jeremy Klein at his hookups booth.  As any appreciative, former horn-dog would, I walked up to him and said "Dude Jeremy, just wanted to stop by and say I'm a fan of what you've done. Thank you for your contributions to the skate world." and I held out my hand for a fist bump, handshake, or whatever. He looks at my buddy and I and just says "okay" followed by silence and no movement. After realizing that was the extent of our encounter, my friend and I walked off and were just like "Fuck that guy, what a kook" and that has remained my opinion of him to this day.

Gator slipped out of something and totally Rocket'ed his Board off the side of the ramp & into the crowd.

Straight up nailed this Chick in the back of the head.

He went down & checked on her but kept skating shortly after.

When I was 12 me and some friends got dropped off at the ladner park for a few hours by a friends parent. Mike Hastie was there trying to nollie noseslide the 3 stair rail. After about 15 minutes of not landing it he freaks out and focuses his board and then proceeded to come over to me and my friends and tell us to leave the park or he would “kick or asses”. All of us started packing our shit up and one of my friends (whom is closely affiliated with alltimers) says fuck that and straight up offered Hastie the fade. my friend was 13 but looked 25 and could handle his self. Mike looked him up and down and just said “go fuck yourselfs” and then just left. We had a great day skating the park and ive always thought Mike was a dick since that day. To be fair we have mutual friends now and he’s apparently mellowed out and is a chill family man now. Cheers Mike!

Chad Fernandez injured my friend which took him out of the best trick comp because he lost his temper and flung his board indiscriminately into a group of skaters. It was horrible to watch.   Jacked his ankle. Happened at Thrasher's indoor park circa 2002. Dustin Dollon won the contest with a huge kick flip over the pyramid to 50-50 down the hubba on the other side. I recognized Chris Nieratko among the crowd and said hi but he just shrunk away and asked in a very concerned voice if he owed me money and how did I know his name.

Heath was there for a foundation demo and we were skating in the streets and a guy with brown skin honked their horn as we were blocking the street, Heath responded by telling the guy to go back to the country he came from and also said spic or beaner, I don’t exactly remember which racist adjective he used as I was livid at that point. He sucked. He sucked a lot. I was reluctant in posting this as I know his skating is amazing and so many people love him but he was a huge ass….hopefully he changed his ways but I haven’t seen anything to make me think so.

Tony Miroana hands down this biggest asshole and Coke headed cool guy.

More Tmo Stories please

Dude has the weirdest fucking life of all time😂

Good stories. I have had awkward meet ups with several people from the 18 crew. Peabody, Julien Stranger acted as an absolute teenager, when he was an grown man. He was a horrible person and every one let him just because he was Julien Stranger. I am big fan of both T-MO's and Strangers skating, but fuck them as persons.

I think he mellowed out later.  Remember when he TM for Emerica and in one of the B-Sides I think Hsu was skating a bump to bench.

A homeless dude with a shopping cart got into an argument with Heath, who was watching and called him a "faggot". Heath responded pretty chill.

Mark Appleyard gave me a set of wheels at the Element Peace video premier at Familia. I also heard Pat G talking about 100 gecs at my local lol
