There are so many great, in-their-own-way skaters these days that I've never gotten around to supporting Daryl Angel. This looks to be really damning and I'm so happy I never threw this guy a dime. I realize not everyone has the luxury of growing up with a father, but as a young boy, it seems one of the first things your taught is never to hit a woman, period. This hits really close to home for me because of experiences with an ex that I relayed to many people and was told, "I would've beat the shit out of her. I can't believe you didn't do that!" You never hit women, end of story.

That's Harsh. As if having the worst episode on Nine Club history wasnt bad enough. To be honest he always seems very off putting in most interviews like hes hiding something and his grin with those horrible teeth makes me uncomfortable. Ever since that deadbeat dad joke in the Stuckey roast I've just been really turned off by him.

The first interview I read about Angel, he was asked, "why do people think you're such an asshole?" This was when he was peaking, fully on Nike etc.
Our guy from Tampa said Daryl fell off completely, dumped from all his sponsors and carrying a 12 pack not giving a fuck.
All I know is my first impression was terrible, and now it's even worse.

The lame shit is how the skate industry keeps trash like this under wraps. The reality is, if he did do that, there would be a concerted effort by skate media, his teammates, and his sponsors to keep the whole situation quiet. I guess its possible he didn't do it, but without anybody confirming or denying this is what happens, all there are is assumptions.

Regardless of whether allegations are true or not, they are pretty damming, how is it that we keep up the false pretense that professional skateboarders are untouchable, infallible perfect human beings ? Looked at her page real quick, the last photo with Daryl was 4/5/2014. The photo with bruises and such was posted 6/30/2016. Couple years time in between them. Could potentially have been someone else in the mix. Not a Daryl Angel fan but I'm not certain there is proof.

My ex-girlfriend (who was a narcissist) left me awhile back and proceeded to tell everyone in town that I mentally abused her, and towards the end of our relationship started beating her. It was all a total lie, but there were some people who believed her and perpetuated the rumors until the whole town was talking about it. Lost friends, job, the good reputation I had -- couldn't go anywhere without people talking about me or calling me names and shit. That happened almost two years ago and I'm just now starting to get my life back together. It was extremely fucking embarrassing and totally below the belt. By far the toughest thing I've ever dealt with (am dealing with). If this dudes gonna beat ass, I wish he'd get in with my heinous, shitty ex-girlfriend. She actually deserves that shit.

These artefacts that we will call mediators that can be associated with social schemes (what is right or wrong to post on social medias). Those schemes are really different from one social circle to another. What is normal for somebody to post, is shocking or cringe to another.

We see 'couples' sometimes where we know from that one is an 'abuser' (several charges etc!!!) and seeing them sit in front of us like nothing happens behind closed doors is terrible.

I lived in San Jose years ago and heard of his scummy behavior and history of abuse. He'd throw insane temper tantrums and it seemed like someone told him to chill in public. But who knows, most of those "zany" Tilt Mode dudes seemed like closet alcoholics, so it would be a surprise if anyone said shit to him.

Daryl got on Habitat just before 2010's Origins and right on time to be completely rendered null by Austyn. Fuck, Tim O'Connor's three tricks in that are better than anything I've seen Daryl do. But that's not the point: The point is there's evidence Daryl committed domestic abuse, that Bubblegum Tate deleted a thread as a favor to Daryl (enabling him), who stated he may address this issue in the future, AND Daryl acknowledged that he fucked up in an Instagram post plugging his last video part. Daryl has yet to come forward and edited his post to remove any mention of past discretions.
It doesn't matter how good he might be or what contributions he may have made to skating, Daryl needs to speak about committing abuse.

I work in homelessness services and have a lot of contact with both victim's and perpetrators of domestic violence. Before starting in this work line of work I would of assumed similar but violence towards women is very prevalent across all sections of our communities, across all ages, social and ethnic groups and demographics. Unfortunately men of all backgrounds love the power trip that comes from oppressing and beating women.
Whilst until this point I have not taken part in the conversation about Daryl Angel, I'm glad that it's being raised and that people are comitted to highlighting. Disgusting that he has done it but the silence of Nike, Habitat etc speaks volumes. I reckon there must be some very nervous pros out there right now.

But that's not the point: The point is there's evidence Daryl committed domestic abuse, that Bubblegum Tate deleted a thread as a favor to Daryl (enabling him), who stated he may address this issue in the future, AND Daryl acknowledged that he fucked up in an Instagram post plugging his last video part. Daryl has yet to come forward and edited his post to remove any mention of past discretions.
It doesn't matter how good he might be or what contributions he may have made to skating, Daryl needs to speak about committing abuse.

I was making fun of your world-shaking epiphany that you should judge others after you meet them, which is exactly what you should do. However, there's a couple points to make based off of that, which affect that logic in this scenario:
1. What do you think the point of this message board is? To talk about pro skaters only after you've met & assessed their personalities?
2. Normally I don't talk shit on anyone (anymore), and I try to only espouse positivity. This is a case that traverses my normal standards because someone close to Daryl has brought up photo evidence of abuse by him and there's been other indicators from Daryl himself that the photos are true. So I'm judging him, harshly, at least until he comes forward in the hopes of bringing about a positive change.
The allegations affect me and the others here because as you said, it is "OUR culture", and I don't want our culture to celebrate a spineless woman-beater. You think confronting him with this wouldn't bring about change? Dive into the Jason Jessee thread.
And if none of this is sinking in because you think I never met him and I have no jurisdiction to judge--I've met Daryl, albeit briefly, in the East Village a couple years back. He was quiet and seemed polite. That is no longer by interpretation of him.

Pretty sure it was in that terrible interview that Antwuan did with some BMX guys. I also think that there was a huge difference with how the cases were handled, with most people giving up on Antwuan at one point or another versus Daryl's case being kept under wraps while facing no repercussions.

As reprehensible and sketchy the things Antwuan has done are, dude has suffered major consequences for it. He lost all of his sponsors and went to prison multiple times, not sure what more you want. I'm all for an Antwuan comeback seeing as how he's expressed his regret, admitted to, and shown remorse for his fuck ups. He's sober and seemingly skating a lot again, so I think he deserves another chance. I wrote a magazine article making fun of magic and spent a good portion of it singling David Blaine out in particular, and a few months later I received a letter from Criss Angel, along with four signed head shots, saying how funny he thought it was. I didn't ask for any of it.
