what's the deal is with all the MSTRKRT hate?  is it the whole "anti-hipster" contingency?  or is it that you've all actually listened to the album and think it blows?  i'm not really into the genre, so i'd be interested to know.  i saw them "play" last summer at Hiro Ballroom, and it was pretty impressive actually.

new album was described correctly earlier in the thread, daft punk inspired songs that lacked melodies/hooks. as a remix duo, they sometimes hit brilliance with tracks like the para one, polysics or annie remixes. they stick to a same formula sometimes which can make them sound too repetitive.

also, alex, it'd would be interesting to know what you believe the "correct" answer to be?  i mean, i dont usually agree with loudwizard's choices, but at least the guy knows what he's talking about and actually gives suggestions of his own

the guy asked for 'techno', so the "correct" answer should of been something from that genre. i'm not really bothered by the fact that most people mistake anything electronic for being techno.

They are the Cory Kennedy's of Canada. I feel so sorry for Sebastien Granger.

did you read his actual post? he asked about techno, mentioned AFX, then said "electronica", then asked about hiphop/electronic stuff. that's pretty broad, but again, it didn't seem like dude was looking for a Surgeon mix.

hi, i have never heard MSTRKTRF, but i sure couldn't stand DFA1979.
i understand that are totally different, but yeah. no.

Picture the bad half of that band leaving to make techno for the post-gothic generation.

alexx: your criticism of the MSTRKRFT stuff is actually spot on....i can totally see that......much better than someone just saying "they suck"

loudwizard:  yeah, i actually was a fan of DFA1979, so it may be why I overlook some of MSTRKRFTs flaws

Hardkiss - Hippie deep house music
The Irresistible Force - Mixmaster Morris, sigh.

keeping with the spirit of not talking about techno in the techno thread, this is a quality electronic album:
