Hahah this thread brings me back. My friends wanted to make a video after I had only been skating a few months. I was always very self conscious about my skateboarding ability and took no part in it though. Probably a good call. These are probably some of the older pictures of myself skating that I have seen. Loved that qp. My dad built it after I had been skating for a solid year or so and it lasted for years.
There's one other photo I can't seem to find of me ollieing off the miniramp at my local park, which in itself isn't a very cool photo, but somebody on MySpace stole it and posted it on their own claiming it was them which was pretty funny.

I started skating on my birthday in the year 2000. I have photos of me trying to ollie and shit on the first day. I was a 100% nerd back then, so the photos are not for public consumption.
I had a pretty steady skate crew until 2005 and from 2002 on, I documented all of our skateboarding with my first digital camera. Progress was very slow, so there are not a lot of photos I am proud of, but this one is definitely my favorite: nollie bs 180 on a bank (the footage looked a lot less impressive), sometime in 2003

I am actually in the process of adding all of our skate photos to my personal photo archive, but the work is painstaking, because the digital camera reset its date to 1.1.2000 every time I took the batteries out to recharge.

I wish my old photos were as sick as all y'all's. I know that mine is me when I'm a prepubescent 13 year old wearing full pads posing a switch nosepick on a curb looking back smiling. My dad said he wanted a picture of me skating and apparently that was the coolest trick I could think of at the time. I'm glad I couldn't find it because it's borderline too embarrassing to post.

So in this first one I’m probably 14/15 and this kid who was like 2 years older than us needed to do a project for a production class he had in high school and he used to skate and asked us if he could use our footage for his project, I remembered thinking since he used to skate he would probably make it cool, I was obviously wrong I start at 2:12
The second one was right after. I torn my ACL at 16 and that was basically everything from the first video until I blew my knee out, other than some super cring worthy fits and 2 weird blackouts in edit I like it ok.

I remember I really wanted that Mullen deck back then for some reason; either that one, or the one they called the Sinner, with the graphic with dove, even to this day that one might be a personal favorite (although it's very simple). Eventually I tried to mail order one of them off a skateshop's print catalog pre-Internet and they sent me a completely different Mullen board with a huge panda graphic, in the wrong size too, I was so bummed. Still set it up, skated it and ended up snapping it on a dumb varial flip down a two stair although I landed it bolts, the nose just exploded and all the plies came apart.

Somewhere I have pics of the first time I ever skated - 1986 doing kickturns in my driveway and X-Mas 1986 skating a Vision board. I have 0 pics of me skating from like 1991-1998 which is fucking baffling. Bums me out!
Also want to add (mentioned it before).. this skate camp was in an outdoor rink at the park in 1987. The parking lot (not visible) behind the wall of the rink, and in front of that bridge is the 2nd place I ever rode a skateboard in my life. Next to this park is train tracks and then a neighborhood. I live in that neighborhood and cross the tracks to still skate there and take my son to the playground

I'm sure I can track down some of me as a really little kid but this is the first photo I remember actually shooting with a local "photographer" in high school trying to make it in skating. So I'm not skating in this one....but I think it counts! I was lucky enough to travel to California in the 80's thanks to my mom's work and for a French kid obsessed with skating, it was paradise. I actualy made it to the OG Upland, still can't believe it when I look back. I could drop in, and fly out of the small bowls like all the other grommets did so I felt I fit right in ha. even though I couldn't speak english at all....actually I have some more pics from that day, I need to scan them when I have some time.

I already posted it in another thread. This one was taken at Pentecoast 1993. I was in a Christian camp that offered skating and the photographer took that picture of me. He then used it for this pamphlet ("About the right use of things") and also a calendar for a Christian teenager magazine. Only he never told me so I only found out when my mom came across the pamphlet somehow (in church I guess).
Anyway I am rocking a Street Rags cap, Sonic Youth Dirty shirt, huge no-brand shorts and Airwalk NTS. Board has to be New Deal Sargent everslick, with G&S trucks from the pre-BPSW phase (that's why they are so large) and small wheels (what else).
By the way the trick wasn't a make.

Somewhere I have pics of the first time I ever skated - 1986 doing kickturns in my driveway and X-Mas 1986 skating a Vision board. I have 0 pics of me skating from like 1991-1998 which is fucking baffling. Bums me out!
Also want to add (mentioned it before).. this skate camp was in an outdoor rink at the park in 1987. The parking lot (not visible) behind the wall of the rink, and in front of that bridge is the 2nd place I ever rode a skateboard in my life. Next to this park is train tracks and then a neighborhood. I live in that neighborhood and cross the tracks to still skate there and take my son to the playground

This ramp was in my backyard, but we did have a partially burned down barn in the neighborhood that had been half rebuilt - leaving a concrete area to skate in. We never saw people at the house, so we snuck over a few times to skate it - heart racing. After a few sessions we brought some jump ramps - packed in and out. But after a month or so we just started leaving things there. It was our own DIY with wood ramps. We never got kicked out.

Went straight to FTC and bought a complete (the girl board was definitely 7 something ) skated straight (with about 2 hours sleep) to the spot I had dreamed about for YEARS. i'm not sure what year--i was probably about 17 or 18, so 1988 or 1989...that's over a hip incidentally. i had been skating for about 5 or 6 years at that point, but that's the earliest photo i have, i think. as i said in that other thread, over the decades there were a lot of fleeting DIY spots in the parking lots of closed-down businesses, in and around Detroit, and this one was in the parking lot of a closed-down Little Caesars. picture was taken by a priceless and long-time friend who owns one of the most enduring skate-shops in the Detroit area...

this is the oldest footage of me i could find, it says 2014 but some footage is from 2013. i went through a few boards while filming this, a toy machine sect eye, some baker board, a polar hjalte (red board with a dude eating his belly in a burger) and grey stereo arrows deck. a lot of weird shoes back then too, the red etnies with a foam sole (think these were called highlight?), dvs inmate with the clear green sole, vans chukka lows (navy/gum, those were actually kinda cool), fucking circa sierra fellers in a black/camo colorway. thunder trucks, busenitz pro model with a thumb up graphic. the colored wheels were bones 100s party pack and the white ones were classic formula jeff grosso spitfires that came with a water based tattoo (?) instead of a sticker. i somehow put that tattoo on a wallpaper in my room and it’s still there :)

Spring 1989 (i have some older ones but they're really fuzzy). I remember that when I was learning kickflips they always rotated backside a little bit. I've pretty much straightened them out by now tho ::)

I don't have photos of me from very early years, but here is one of a very good homie Boyan (RIP) that got me into sk8ing.. I got to the local sk8 crew in the end of 96 and we didnt have modern day boards (popsicles), just some old and heavy socialist made boards from the 80s and we were mostly cruizing and ollieing around, the best trick we ever did was a kick flip. :D It wasnt until 99 when i got my first popsicle and the progression started to happen.

Thanx, bro! I have been skating a couple of years before this. I have to look at my parents house for some old photos. This thread is very nice. The first years of skating are so sweet and may be the best ones.
