How are your rotations riding a 15wb? If you're confident fs and bs and ready to put more effort into rotating then sure go longer

I wasn't ready for the change when I put thunders on a 14.5 wb compaired to when I had ace..

Do you mean like kickturns or pop shove-its? I can do both with ease but 360 pop shove-its require bit more effort than a standard popsicle.

I'd grab the garg because it's not much wider than what you're on and I like a less aggressive taper

Aces are great man
It is wider, but I don't think that it's going to feel wider because of the aggressive taper and the 9.75 only being around the front truck. (I think)

I don't really mind taper if the tail is wider than the smallest point at the back bolts. That's what I don't like on my current board.

I think I am going to buy the crest first and after I finish that deck(or if I want something new again :P), I will buy the garg. Still fairly new to skating and I don't know what I exactly want out of a deck(and shaped decks are something new for me) so I guess I just need to experiment and buy a few more decks to really find out my preferences.

Appreciate your response!

However do you guys reckon I can get used to 15.5 or 15.75 WB for flatland/ledges?
[close]

Both of those have short noses.   Drill them to get a more palatable wheelbase and longer nose.

Will do that if I really can't make it work with the standard WB and nose length.
Thanks for the advice hadn't thought of that.

Go with the one you are more stoked on.
Your skating will adjust to your setup, just don’t get frustrated if tricks don’t work like on the old setup, rethink and relearn or focus on other tricks (for the time being)

Yeah I'll just get the crest then and I'll see if I can make it work. I already have been trough the phase of 'relearning' my tricks on a longer WB so I'll just apply the knowledge I have.

Also if you are on 159 Indys I would invest in f4s, aces might be nice but 159s are great too and not worst at all.
F4 compared to ml is a huge difference.
Shape wise i’d Recommend radial slim if you ride big wheels (55+)
I'll keep that in mind thanks. Is wheelbite that bad on the other shapes? I do like to ride bigger wheels yeah. Currently with the 60's I have 1/2 inch riser and loose trucks with bones meds and I only get a little bit of wheelbite.

Thanks man!

Make sure to post a pic once it’s setup.
1/2” risers sound mad tall!

i recently rode the krooked drehobl 9.25 and loved it.

it tapers a lot (8.5) over the back truck, which made it a bit tricky to fit trucks but with 159s it felt super smooth.

i like the extra leverage you get over the front truck, but also i have to put extra effort in to land things cleaner

Yeah, it's a fun shape. Got one on my cruiser. Wide as fuck in the front and tapers a whole bunch in the back. The tail is really short which kinda threw me off at first but surprisingly it still ollies nicely without too much effort with 60 mm wheels and 1/8" risers.

Woah! this looks good! mind showing a top pic?

Here's the top pic. I feel like pics don't do it justice. I was surprised by how much wider it is in front than in the back when I got it and I looked at the pics for quite a while online before I ordered it. Anyway, it's a nice board for sure. Double drilled for 14.75" and 14.25" wheelbase too.

My fatty.
I've had this set up for a month or 2. It's so fun.
I put it together thinking it'd be mainly a pool board. But of course I end up skating it all over the skatepark. And it works. Takes a little more effort to flip and ollie. But the tradeoff is the huge landing area. You can land all crooked and still roll away just because there is so much to stand on. Definitely inspired by Chico, Kader, Nick Boserio, etc.
Its a Pocket Pistols deck. Gonz graphic for Jeremy Henderson. Advertised as 10" wide. But actually only 9.75" at its widest.
Indy standard 169 w/ soft red bushings
1/8" riser

Just setup my deck. Pretty stoked about it! It looks really nice imo. Goodbye to flip tricks for a bit probably, but it looks so fun to skate!

The 159s fit perfect because of the taper at the nose and tail.

my wife skates that one, at the moment. we wanted to support the FL guys.

the shape is crazy, huge nose and decently large tail. medium wheelbase and a lot of taper.
at the widest, which is pretty centered it is like 8.8ish and over the trucks 8.4.

fun and weird

That's a helpful description. The nose does look gigantic. I didn't pull the trigger on it yet. I'm also considering one of those Cardiel 90s shapes that are in the 9" range.

the football shapes generally make decks feel smaller imo. so the 8.8 seems like an 8.5 with a little wiggle room for sketchy landings, to me.
the AH cardiell, surely is going to feel more like a big board. even the 9+ range fits narrower trucks better because the tail tapers and gets pretty narrow, with wide trucks that feels shit unless you ride (tiny wheels and) loose as hell.

looking fresh!
how do you like concave rails? i imagine it would throw me off a lot, i have to ride them a little convex and wider in the front than in the back to lock in at the right point.

I’ve been riding this deck in the bowl mostly and the rails haven’t seen much action yet haha..I mostly ride my 8.35 deck but before getting injured I had so much fun riding my big boy deck

The wood shop he uses makes great boards, very stiff and snappy.

Since I’m big and fat boards with flex don’t really work for me

Double post but relevant to this thread too

BA 9.25 14.38 WB stamped IV
Venture 6.1s
F4 conical 99s 52mm
Mixed bearings
Bronze hardware
Jessup grip
Jordan 1s
Ventures feel a lot like 55s one session in, they turn super quick and feel great so far. If the bushings harden a little once broken in I might not have to adjust them at all.

Wow, first time seeing the 6.1s and I love how they look. Switched to Indy when I started skating 8.75 but those kind of make me want to go back.

It’s not flat but it’s definitely on the mellower side, the kicks are about average though
