Still, I will attest to the benefits of straight canned tuna. Great protein density.
Damnit, Garden... feeling very attacked rn. I reached a lifetime high score of 200 pounds.
That's 20 bucks overweight for me.

Returning to exercise that isn't grinding time in a gym but rather spent on an activity I love would be great for mental health.
Plus, I've had in mind a long time to develop switch pushing. That would be some epic cardio.

What are we willing to sacrifice for fat loss?

I think it is a bit too much. When I used to do lots of sports and I was on a state team I had to get regular physicals. The doctor marked it as critical and unhealthy, if you had lost more than 12 pounds in three months. I'd go for like a pound per week max. In my experience people with radical diets never lost weight in the long run. My mother for example would do these crazy fasts and strict diets. She'd be in a bad mood for the whole diet. And she would quickly get back to her regular weight (just a little bit overweight) in just a few months after the diet. She has never liked her weight, but always obsessed about it. She probably has a bit of an eating disorder... Also for the past 3 years I have more or less regularly listened to the Joe Rogan experience and him and his comic friends always seem to be starting new diets, but they never loose weight in the long run. Joe Diaz is probably the exception. He has been slowly losing weight for almost two years now. I think he just changed up his eating and exercise habits instead of going vegan or low carb or only meat or something crazy like that.

Dude
I feel fat as fuck right now and I need to start filming for a video part for my 50th birthday next year....and now I saw this thread so I feel like I'm going to have to join in this madness. I have been putting it off. I don't need to lose a ton, but i'm 190 and I need to be 170-175 to feel normal and not tubby. I'll put 20lbs of loss on here by July 1. Time to buy one of those fucking jump ropes that Kelly Hart keeps advertising I guess (for reals, because I HATE running but it's the thing that works the best for my fitness). If I work out modestly but cut out sugar the lbs fall off for me.
I've done this thing called the Whole Life Challenge and it works wonders for me, for those looking for some kind of structure. Very simple, work out for a min of 10 minutes a day (strenuous workout) and completely cut out all added sugars from your diet. Seems kind of easy at first but basically anything packaged has added sugar in it. Mostly it just keeps you accountable by logging in and recording how good/bad you're doing on it. Sometimes it's purely the accountability that is needed.
One 8th / quarter of coke, every weekend with minimal eating and sleeping for 2/3 months and it'll fall off drastically.
Not healthy at all obvs but it works big time.
I’m needing to cut down on energy drinks. I’m intermittent fasting, and eating one meal a day at night (my adderall prescription def. helps).
But to make it through a day of driving a few hundred miles and cleaning about 100 portapotties, I slam energy drinks like it’s no ones business. I know they got those 0 calorie joints, but they taste like bug repellent and NyQuil. But I’ve been good with water, at least 4 quarts a day. What’s not chill is almost pissing your pants several times a day, though.
Last I checked I’m down 14lbs.
I'm at about 200 right now, but normally sit around 180 to 185.
I'd like to lose 15 pounds by summer so I'm in good shape for skating/hiking/bicycling. And then ideally down to 175 or so by fall.
It's been a hard year in terms of physical (and mental!) health because of Covid. Drinking way too much has been the main culprit. All those extra calories, plus eating like shit while drinking/hungover, plus no motivation to exercise for a few days after drinking.
Main goal is to cut the booze. Know that healthier eating comes natural for me when I'm sober. Second goal is to exercise every day - even if it's just walking the dog a few miles. Have a friend to play tennis with a few days a week. Start skating and bicycling as the weather gets nicer. Have a kettlebell that I'd like to throw around for a bit each morning too.
Stoked to have some extra motivation to lose some weight with all of you guys!

Damn, that sounds horribly unhealthy. Your blood sugar must go on a daily rollercoaster ride. How about coffee or some healthier energy, like food to get you through your day? Putting all that sugar in you, you are breaking fast anyways.

i didnt need to lose weight but I wanted to get healthier last fall.
im 6'2" and 185 down from 193.
I skip breakfast. if im starving ill eat a banana and protein bar (160 calories)
I eat the same lunch every day.
- 6 carrots
- 6 triscuits
- 2 tbs of hummus
- handful of almonds
- a handful of sweet potato chips
- an apple
for dinner its literally a protein of my choice, rice/quinoa, and a big helping of green/orange/yellow veggies with a sauce of some kind.
I don't eat dairy anymore, no chips, no candy bars, no gummy snacks, anything fried (90% of the time..i fuck with fries or tots sometimes), no bread really, no sweets except dark chocolate or some dried fruit.
i drink 3-4 liters of water a day.
I lost 8 pounds and I feel AMAZING. I also still drink 2-3 beers a day which im working on....
should I eat more? probably...but Im using this time to sort of reset my body and figure out what shit bothers me, triggers GI issues, makes me feel bloated or tired, etc. So eventually I'll obviously up my calories for lunch.
you literally have to just not eat as much, watch what goes into your mouth, think about the benefits vs destruction of what that food will do.
be active 4-5 times a week for 30 min.
its worked for me. calorie counting and mindfulness is all you need.
my poops are god tier! and that's coming from someone who has dealt with serious IBS for 10 years.

Don’t take my word for it, but I think you’re drinking way too much water. 3-4 liters is an insane amount unless you’re in the desert. Clear pee isn’t the ideal and you could be flushing out needed nutrients and what not.

I wouldn’t even consider them (plus prime Wenning) full figured necessarily, at least not all. What the big difference is that most skaters are short and wiry, these skaters are just a bit more broad than fat or chubby.
Down 15 lbs in 2 weeks so far. Intermittent fasting and calorie deficit. I also walk about 12 miles a day at work.Hell yeah now that's motivation!
Not the healthiest method, I’m aware. But once I get close to target I’ll clean it up.
Weather is going to break soon and the clocks just flipped so I’ll have more time to skate and cycle after work which will give me more calories to eat better.

Impressive. I’m at 3 lb loss and I basically just stopped eating after 5 PM and not eating junk food. Also been taking my cruiser out to the store if I only need to pick up an item or two. I am in a good mental space to make a lifestyle change.

I haven't cut sugar completely but I definitely noticed a difference when I took it out of my coffee. I used to drink that bullshit that dunkin claims is coffee but is like 70% flavored sugary creamer, 20% ice and 10% coffee. Switched to black coffee a few years ago, energy boost from it last longer and no sugar crash. Plus save a shit ton of calories there. A medium dunkin iced coffee with a flavored cream is like 250 calories, that's no way to start a day.

I cut out sugar and fat as good as I could this week. As IusedToSkateMore I pondered wearing a belt as my pants are sagging. But I relapsed today. Hey folks, I’ll chime in here on what I hope to be doing to get my weight down. First eliminate beer, second I am going to track calories with a plan of losing 1 1/2 lbs a week (using the loseit app). Third I am going to get some substantial activity everyday, weather it is skating, biking to work or whatever, also on days where the weather sucks I’ll probability work out in my basement.
Hopefully with the weather getting nicer getting out, being more active will be pretty natural. Also without drinking I’m a lot more active as drinking just straight up makes me lazy, weather it’s being a bit hung the following day, sitting around in the afternoon/evening drinking, not getting bored to the point where I do something instead of sit around with a beer.
Finally my wife got a new bike and has been pretty ambitious and so I’ll probably be doing some longer rides which will help, we went for a 45 mile ride yesterday and she wants to do more.
Best of luck to you all!

Good shit! Where are you based out of? I'm in MI, and we've had a few teases to Spring. I've been out on my board 3 times over the last 5 or 6 weeks, and every time besides pushing and cruising, I feel like I haven't had enough reps to flip my board yet. Looking forward to more consistent weather.
That said, I'm down about 5lbs at the moment, and the new job has my legs getting back under me.
I feel like there’s some outside force constantly undoing any progress I make. Like it’s totally me having no self control to turn things down, but I’d rather blame other people. Today, I rode 40km fixed gear, ended the ride with 2 beers. Came home, Chinese lunch with the in-laws. Oh, they brought a delicious Bundt cake.
A guy I work with eats every other day. His fasting day he drinks coffee and bone broth to get by. He lost 70. I don’t have that willpower and honestly it sounds horrible.
I’ve always hated working out, basically the only excercise I ever did were skateboarding, BJJ and hiking.
However, something weird has happened in the last 3 weeks or so: I started messing around with kettlebells, and I’m really starting to like it. Right now my lower back is still a bit messed up and gyms are closed, so I can’t skate or do BJJ. Trails are full of people so hiking kinda sucks right now.
Never thought I’d like weightlifting, but here we are. It’s 9:30 am right now and can’t wait to get home from work and work out. My core and upper back are starting to feel a bit stronger, so my lower back feels better and I’m finally starting to have a good posture. Might feel confident enough to start skating again by the end of the month.
Also, I’ve been stretching for an hour everyday, whether I worked out or not. I can finally touch my toes with both hands without issues, something I’ve never really been able to do. The days I don’t do KB are the days I ride my stationary bike (i still despise running), so I’m always active.
Not gonna lie, if it wasn’t for this thread, my Kettlebell would have stayed right where it was: in the closet collecting dust and I’d be getting baked eating Doritos drinking IPA’s.
I’m not going to let this third lockdown get the better of me !
I fux with this thread.
So I lost 30lbs last year, lowest I weighed was 165 but usually sat around 170. I usedthe keto diet and felt great. But like a lot of people COVID hit and I binge ate and did no excercise and I travel for work so having to not pay for meals made it easy to binge (I legit ate a meal for two people every night for like 6 months). I’ve had several failed starts in the last year to lose the weight again. But enough is enough going to lose 30lbs currently weigh 202. This time I won’t be doing keto, it’s effective but it’s super boring and not necessarily the healthiest. I plan to eat mostly Whole Foods, no breads, no pasta or junk food. No sugar, no alcohol and drink more water. Also planning to excercise 4 hours a week in addition to skating more. Little late to lose all the weight by summer but going to try and lose as much as I can. I’ll post progress.
Anybody lose weight and notice their feet get more narrow or shallow? Was curious because fitting in my shoes better would motivate me further to do this damn thing.

Did not know it could affect the length. Gaining and losing weight does have an effect on shoe size and can even go up/down a whole size
Best of luck with everything. Hope surgery can be avoided after your weight loss!
I need to loose more weight to tell you but my issue is because I have broken my left leg twice I now have varicose veins that stick out and make my left leg look twenty years older than my right. I have been 15 lbs lighter but that was 5 years ago and I don’t remember the problem. But I have poor circulation in my left foot and before I go to a doctor I want to loose the 15 lbs. if I still have a problem I will get some sort of surgery but I want to see if weight loss will help the problem—I think it will help a little bit if not a lot.

My problem with Doritos is the second I leave the store, no matter the size of the bag, it has about 15 minutes left to live. I have zero control when it comes to Doritos.
There's no such thing as leftovercrackDoritos.
I feel like all my fat goes straight to my neck and my face. Has anyone used diet pills? I'm exercising and eating well but if if there is something out there to expedite the process, I might be down.

I’m doing keto and I’ve lost 50 lbs in 3 months. I had surgeries and bad bouts of depression that knocked me on my ass for too long and I was definitely eating only poor choices for awhile, so the quick results may be just from not doing that at all anymore. But I think it’s a fairly easy diet to maintain and the weight loss has had very little to do with exercise. It also depends on what you think your mileage is eating eggs near every day
Embarking on a four month journey tomorrow. Quitting all social media and losing 28lbs in 125 days (Labor Day Weekend).
Quest for Summer dominance. I am also gonna learn a bunch of new tricks and I turn 45 in two weeks so whatever.
Half way mark.I believe I am back exactly where I started. So it's going pretty well for me.
How is everyone doing? Care to share?
I had a good March but April basically was a no go.
I am basically fluctuating at 5 lb loss +/- 2 lbs, so my goal of a 20 lb loss may not be realistic. But I am not hitting the reset button. Just need to tighten up the diet and be more active. One week at a time...
Tuna
Came out in another thread but yeah you want it get it, just eat tuna for a couple weeks
Laugh all you want but I dropped 25kg of fat in three months

That’s a shitload of pounds ay

I tried the diet pills but they made me feel too wired. I'm gonna just diet properly for now.
I plan on keeping my calories below 1500 and sodium under 1500(idk if that's a good number)
I really don't like cooking so if anyone has fast and healthy food ideas, I'm all ears. A protein shake and sardines might be a good idea to incorporate into the rotation. This is what I'm eating and plan on eating.
Breakfast: 3 eggs
Lunch: low fat greek yogurt and 1/4 cup of granola
Dinner: broccoli and chicken, broccoli and salmon, or steak and salad

A dope meal for me is just a simple salad of romaine, kalamata olives, bit of feta if you like and protein of choice I've done chicken and Gyro meat both are dope. I make a simple olive oil/herb dressing, can't recall the quantities of each ingredient, but its olive oil, oregano, garlic, this Italian seasoning I got at the store, think that's it. I had a similar salad at a greek restaurant on a work trip and it was amazing, I have been trying to recreate it ever since.

Down 15 pounds since the start. Cut down booze except for the occasional martini or shot of vodka, no beers though.
For breakfast it's either scrambled eggs or a spinach/banana/pineapple smoothie and a salad with salmon for lunch. Still need to cut out more carbs and love a bagel on the weekend too much. But hey, making some progress.
15 LBS is fuckin’ great bro. Are you kidding me? I would say you’re at a fast pace.
I am still trying to find a meal plan that won’t leave me needing to eat because I have the shakes or a headache from not eating enough. I wish I liked eggs and chicken but I really don’t. The hardest part for me is cutting out sandwiches and pasta cause they are such an easy meal. Still looking for that meal that I look forward to eating that is low fat high protein.
I just stepped on the scale and I’m 190 yay.
I was 199 when I first posted in this thread in March.
Also I’m pretty sure I can see a little bit of muscle growth in my arms from working out this last month.
Down 25 lbs now since the beginning of the year. Last few pounds have made a big difference, in combination with some relentless skating. I have not been popping Ollies with this sort of confidence for at least 10 years. Warming up at a park has gone from a depressing exercise to joyful cruising and popping over smaller obstacles. I can also take some heavy slams and be back on the board after a few days of resting. I've been skating for 30 years and I feel like I am actually progressing again. Skateboarding really saved me during this fucking pandemic.

I’m happy for you. I am doing terrible. I have decided that I have to skateboard every day at lunch if I want to loose more than the 5 lbs I can’t seem to get past. My spot is .7 miles from my house so I skate there and back and skate for 20-30 minutes and come home. I’m sore as hell but I’m hoping if I keep doing this something will click and I will start being able to land tricks I can’t anymore. The goal for me was to enjoy skateboarding more so I’m just trying to push through. Also trying to ride bikes with my son but he is 8 so I don’t really break a sweat.
Thanks for checking in.
I’ll go for 20
I am now 70kg/154lbs, used to be 75/165. I am happy with the weight now but have to transform some of the remaining body matter into muscles. I have started doing sit-ups but yesterday hurt my tailbone so I have to take a break from that for a few days.
Do you guys have any other tips on how to get a flat stomach without hitting the gym?

Forearm planks ;D 60 seconds, 5x, 2x/day will help.
and really, the flatness comes as more body fat peels away. Spine curvature and posture also effect the appearance of a flat stomach. You ever seen dudes with 6pack abs but sort of a belly? Its not always due to fat per say, but rather how they hold themselves upright

Cheers bro, I‘ll give those planks a shot.
Also, keeping the weight down will now be a challenge but I love that a lot of people have complimented me on my new weight and I would hate to relapse.
Anyone here into swimming laps for getting in better shape ? They just built a brand-new aquatic centre about 2km from my house and I’m curious.
Been injured for almost a month, the weight I lost is coming back due to a lack of activity and honestly, a shitty comfort food-based diet and it’s driving me mad.
Once my back gets in better shape I’m going to go swim some laps because I fucking hate running.

Hell yeah, bro! Forearm planks with palms flat on the floor, rather than fists or whatever, help the work happen in the core as opposed to using your fist/wrist/arms to hold you up. Try em both and see the difference.
Also, regarding keeping it off, what helps me is seeing it all as a lifestyle switch. Its a little bit od work but its a real thing.

I've been doing the planks every evening, at first I couldn't even do five X 1 min. but now I got them.
The weight is still down at 70 kilo, trying to burn some of that lower belly fat.
Anyhow, I had to go to the tailor today to have all my suits tightened as they are looking as baggy as a mid 90ies skate outfit on my new skinny body. That's gonna cost me a grand, thanks Slap ;D
I’ve been doing the peloton 2-3x a week. Should be doing more but life’s stupid and chaotic lately. There’s a gym that opens at 5am half a mile away, and it’s only $15/month for a basic membership. Thinking why not. I need to really work on my core and posture, on top of everything else that’s wrong with me old ass. I just don’t know what to do, and I’m intimidated by gyms. $15 is cheaper than setting up a home gym like I was planning on, and it’ll save space in the garage for other stuff.I understand feeling intimidated by the gym but it’s def a good place to go.

Getting my planet fitness membership is the best thing that had happened for me trying to build muscle and burn fat. It could be great help for you too.
I’ve also been watching a lot of videos on which weight lifting stuff is best for what I want and common technique mistakes to avoid. Which has been a good help for me.
I also have not achieved my goal weight yet...I started at 220 I believe and got down to 210. However after a "skater family" reunion involving way too much booze and bad food, I am back to 215. ;D Oh well we will get there eventually.
Edit: congrats to all of you that did it!

yo dawg, if you are tryna put on arm muscle, push ups are the way to go imo. you can start with as many as you can do without being totally gassed, track the #, and move up by whatever number you feel is appropriate when you feel is appropriate. you'll get more definition than just Popeye biceps. after pushups get comfortable enough, you can move onto pull-ups and/or chair dips. what makes these, for me, better than lifting, is the convenience- I can just drop and do a set of pushups anytime, anywhere in my house, yard, etc. I've got a pullup bar outside the house that I try to do just 3 on each time I go outside. Good luck G

Push ups and chin ups are my go to for body weight fitness, interval training is my jam. Same applies to running, I don't do runs longer than 5k, just intervals runs of 400m at a 4k cap.
Do 60-70% of your max, take a break and repeat 2-3 times depending on how pumped you feel. During last year I was able to push my max chin ups to 28 but breaking past this to 30 takes so much commitment.

My arms aren’t big yet but in person they are noticeably different compared to a few months ago.
I usually do 4-5 sets of ten push ups if I have the time at work.
But just 1 or 2 sets when I’m at home, I usually don’t have a ton of energy left when I’m at home after work because I go to the gym almost everyday after and in the mornings on my days off.
Also like I’ve mentioned before, my weight has stayed the same the last month but I can tell that I’m burning fat because my man boobs are also noticeably smaller.
I am down to 68kg from 75kg, that's 15lbs in 5 months or so. The only thing I really changed was to cut out sugar and unhealthy fat from my diet consequently. That's a good start. Cutting sugar is crucial in my opinion. I initially cut dairy too, but if you're going plant based that's what's up. I think for me, the most important component of losing weight, I dropped 25ish lbs, was changing not just what I eat, but when I eat. I'm not sold on the whole premise of intermittent fasting, but 5 days a week i don't really eat between 10pm-2pm. Between 2 and 10, I eat well with no calorie deficit, but still keep out most of the processed sugars. First couple months were slow but now it feels like I've reached a new baseline. I'm not incredibly active right now, at all, either. So im just trying to say that it might take a while but the weight loss comes if u stick at it.

Yeah, it seems like bland is the way to go to lose weight. Thankfully, I have an affinity for fresh jalepenos and those give me a lot of heat/flavor in the place of ranch dressing and other bad-for-you things.
There's a few different decent ones out of Cali that I get frozen, but We mostly make our own when we have time. Ooooo Marc Anthony's... so fuckin good man!Expand QuoteYeah man I 100% agree with the timing. I lost 50 lbs once by quitting drinking and only eating between noon and 6. This time I am not putting that much pressure on it though. My downfall now is getting stoned and making crazy veggie burgers late at night. I really should stop that.. I have completely cut out alcohol and processed sugar along with the plant based diet and have been heavily active lately. So I imagine the results will keep coming. I skate for about 3 hours almost nonstop 5-6 days a week now too. I know the midnight cravings and used to give in but now I just ignore it. It's obvious but if you go to bed hungry the body will burn body fat during the night. If you eat something just before going to sleep he will just burn that stuff instead. It sucks but you get used to it somehow.
On another note I just realized that my blood pressure has dropped significantly since I last measured it, which was before I started to lose weight. Back when I was heavier and drinking, I always used to have a blood pressure of at least 140, which is too high. Now 20lbs lighter (and not drinking) I am at 130, which is just ok.

I bulked up to 89 kg to hit a 500 kg total (160+117,5+225). Keep in mind I'm 172 cm.. so chunky fucker.

That's awesome! 22 pounds is some serious weight loss.
I was down a pretty significant amount, then got a torn hammy in May. Since then, I gradually gained back almost everything. Pretty bummed but getting back on track now. Thanks to a few pals here who are an awesome support system
I also hit a plateau at 145lbs (originally 165lbs in March). I'd like to go down just a little bit more (or at least burn a little bit more body fat) but I am very happy to have gone so far. I haven't been counting calories, just stopped eating unhealthy stuff. Other than skating on the weekends, I've been working out a little bit every day (forearm planks and reverse sit ups) and the abs are showing. I have gone down from 34 waist to 31 and instead of XL/comfort fit I wear M/slim fit shirts. I am in the best shape probably ever. There are sacrifices associated with it but I am so stoked I got rid of my beer belly. It takes some discipline but it's totally worthy if you are unhappy with your current shape.
I have Slap and the dudes in this thread to thank for motivating me to finally to do something about my weight. It was about time. In particular for old dudes like me, there is a point of no return at a certain age/stage where it becomes very difficult to change I guess.
Edit: This thread is also great to watch progress if you post regularly. I was able to reestablish my progress with my posts in this thread:
28 March: Start the diet at 75kg
15 May: 70kg
21 June: 70kg - start planks
25 July: 68kg
30 Aug: 66kg
Just started Intermittent fasting a couple weeks ago. Be been finding it impossible to lose weight, so hoping this helps. I skate 1-3 hours a day, swim laps 2-4x a week (1500-2500 meters), and the scale just doesn’t move. Literally the same as if I was sitting on my ass stuffing my face and sleeping all day. I’m on antidepressants, so I think that might have something to do with it, but I still thought I would see meaningful progress considering all the work I’ve been putting in
Wow, good shit everyone, and everyone who's struggling, hang in there! That's incredible, Almost 30 lbs has got to feel good! Enjoy your birthday session man
I have a weird story. I certainly didn't get there by July, it mostly occurred recently in the late summer, early fall months...
I had to quarantine for 4 weeks in June. My roommate and girlfriend caught the rona, but I never tested positive. Shortly after getting back to work, I got a promotion as a night manager at the dispensary I work at. Between more responsibility, less time to eat, and being back on my feet, I lost 20lbs in 3-4 weeks. When this thread started I was at 219-220.
I very recently cut out alcohol, and in just about 2 weeks, I've gotten down to 192. My 38th birthday is coming up, and while I haven't been able to skate (weird hours, most of my skate friends are on the 9-5 thing), I'm stoked to have a bday sesh this Sunday with some friends. Can't wait to see how I feel on board.
Good shit, Pals.

Some sativa strains are more effective an appetite suppressant than nicotine or caffeine for me. When I first got my card I was almost exclusively using sativas because I didn't really know much other than i like sweet and piney weed. Now that I've learned a lot more about different terpenes and my own body and what works I've been using those strains early in the morning and then tapering off into more indica leaning strains which do stimulate my appetite. So between not eating as much and then having healthier munchies the weight just kind of fell off. It made me realize this is probably my natural weight and I've been walking around overweight but not really noticing because I didn't look "fat".
When you do get your card if you want to learn about terpenes and the biochemistry of cannabis or choosing a strain feel free to hit me up. Congrats to everyone on this thread. SLAP is killing it on this health mission.
I've been having a difficult time getting started with a regimen but I've been trying to exercise before and after work, and eat better with portion control and intermittent fasting. The hunger gets me so psycho sometimes though and it can make my attitude HALT piss poor.
I've recently been weighing myself twice a week and I'm lost around 6 lbs, which I'm psyched about, but I'm trying to get some strength/muscle going. I got doughy after I broke my ankle.
Before work I ride my exercise bike and do some active stretches. At work I try to run up and down the stairs several times a day and sneak off and do pt cardio. I try to do more stuff after work but I'm usually too tired.
The hardest parts lately have been getting motivated to exercise. After work its especially difficult and I just want to curl up and watch 30 Rock. That might be winter depression though. Like in a box.
Also I struggle with snacking on candy at bedtime. For some reason I get ravenous when I'm getting ready to drift off and nothing in my fridge is safe.
Any of you found tools/skills to help curb the late night sweet tooth?

You need a hard withdrawal. Get rid of all unhealthy stuff so if you have a craving there will be only healthy stuff, rice waffles, a carrot, a spoonful of peanut butter…
Do the exercise right when you get home first thing, before settling on the couch or getting comfy.
You made a good start, don‘t give in.

hey friend. it's hard to get started. I really began losing the LBs when I was also on my ass from an ankle injury last winter. It was changing up my relationship with food. I didn't weight myself from January til May and was really surprised. I feel like weighing oneself numerous times per week can lead to unreasonable expectations- there are days when, if I'm constipated and at a big meal, I'll weigh 4-5lbs more than the day before... just saying.
My biggest source of additional fat was peanut butter. No joke. I have a fixed up shake for lunch most days and I'd put 2-3 big globs of sugar free peanut butter in there. I'd eat that shit off the spoon like a candy bar... too much of a good thing isn't good anymore, feel me?
a great, hooked up meal replacement shake goes like this for me:
1/3 scoop plant based protein (whole scoop leaves me bloated)
1 TBSP hemp seeds (lots of easily digestible protein)
2 TBSP PB2 Powdered Peanut butter (no sugar, 1.5g fat, 12% daily protein)
1 TBSP Lions Mane mushroom powder
1.5 Whole Frozen Banana
1/2 cup plain coconut milk (watch for added sugars)
rest of cup filled with h2o and ice
TBH, I can drink half of this at 130pm and feel satisfied until dinner most days. The start up costs are kind of expensive up front, protein, hemp seeds, etc, but it ends up being a $2-3 meal, which isn't too bad in my opinion considering how much eating out or making a bagged lunch costs.
As for exercise, I know we're all different, but start slow and easy. I've been running regularly again after Covid, it's been 12 weeks now. Rather than tying to hoof it hard, I've been doing the same 1.1 mile loop 4 days, a different 2.2 mile loop 2 days, and a day off. It's about sustainability for me. Going hard 1 or 2 days and feeling like ass the rest of the time doesn't really get anything done.

Ya I remember you telling me about your morning routine. For the guys who are prone to snacking on sweets but want something healthier my go-to is grapes. They're the right size to satisfy the snacking ritual and some of the newer kinds (cotton candy, moon drops, sweet snaps etc) taste like straight up candy when they're ripe. I also dip them in yogurt or eat them with cheese if I want to switch it up and add some protein.

I have made it my mission to never work full-time. Aside from parental duties, it allows me to skate long sessions during the week. Definitely key to managing my weight since I am not very disciplined when it comes to exercise. Obviously it’s a privilege to be able to work part-time, but many people could if they didn’t prioritize their professional careers.

Actively avoided this thread out of denial, but went surfing for the first time in a month and my bloated stomach made it feel like I was balancing on a basketball.
I’m definitely a boredom and stress eater, and far too often those foods are fried or pure refined sugar. This is my potential new workday “diet”, tell me if it’s severely lacking anything;
- Intermittent fast from dinner (6-7pm) until my morning break between 9-10am.
- Switch morning coffee with milk for white tea.
- Morning break : Plain Greek yogurt with blueberries, carrot sticks.
- Lunch : 1/2 chicken breast, 1/2 avocado, whole wheat tortilla maybe?
- Afternoon break : Apple
My partner and I eat pretty normal and well rounded dinners, but could def scale back the portion sizes. And of course, I’ll try to drag myself outside for walks/runs. Or do burpees. God I’m already tired of this and I haven’t even started.
Sweet, thanks dude! I’m usually in bed by 10 and up at 6 since I work from 7-4, and I’m not usually too hungry after a big dinner. Might be tough to eliminate refined sugar altogether, but I’ll start by not bringing kids yogurt and pastries in my work lunch lol.
198 lbs confirmed! I have finally made it below 200. I couldn’t be more stoked right now.I hope everyone else in here has continued success as well :)

I'm back in the weight loss game. Went from 200lbs back up to like 250lbs. Let's do this.
Heavily considering going vegetarian.
Yeah, I'm mainly considering it for the impact on animals, but I agree and appreciate the advice.
Sitting at 192 now. I think that’s a 33 lbs loss since Christmas! I have stopped counting calories finally, as just eating less and healthier has become routine. 7 more to go and then it’s just preventive maintenance. I’ve mentioned it numerous times, but this thread has been a huge part of my motivation.
Lawndale..you’ve done it before so you know gd well you can do it again my man.
Thank you my 77 brutha! Mike V. showed me the way! Honestly it’s all been about portion control combined with intermittent fasting (skipping breakfast) I don’t really eat fast food, but I still drink 2-4 beers a night, and will get a pizza every other week. I was 190 yesterday, and when I see 189 I will probably cry haha.Expand QuoteSitting at 192 now. I think that’s a 33 lbs loss since Christmas! That is great that you lost 30 lbs. must be all that aggressive snow shoveling.
I can’t seem to keep weight off cause I have preteen kids and we eat like shit when we are together. I take them to McDonald’s and Wendy’s and eat pizza too much.
I should be at your weight as we are the 77 brothers. What you been eating?
186 as of this morning! If I took a big shit I would be at a 40lb loss..The fucking train is rolling now..I’m shooting for 175 and then I’m done. Sorry to keep posting in here..but nodody irl would give a fuck if I told them. I hope you guys are having continued success!

Ty man! Yessah the difference in skating is phenomenal. I haven’t felt so natural flipping that thing since I was in my late 20s. Now I want potato chips!Expand Quote(https://i.imgur.com/1lVpeS8.jpg)

Congratulations! I just finished a small bowl of potato chips when I read this. I haven’t weighed 175 LBS in 20 years. Must help so much with skating. I’d be estatic if I lost 25 lbs. loosing 50 is crazy. I’m impressed.

Nice achievement.
I am down at 60kg / 132lbs from 75kg / 165lbs, which means I lost 20% of my body in one year. Mindboggling to think this was all fat I was carrying around.

(https://i.postimg.cc/d029xNbK/myfat.gif)Use that depression to fuel the fire! My life was pretty much destroyed and I figured either I could either let it bring me down even lower..or I could turn all the pain and anger into motivation. If that makes any sense. Anyhow thanks for all the kind words everyone! And @IusedToSkateMore gawddamn fuckin right I’m getting that Marc Anthony’s pizza this weekend! 5 oh 8!
Sincere Congratulations though
I am ~two months sober off weed which used to cause binge eating. I'm struggling with diet management and am still procrastinating the nightly bike rides. Depression's the culprit but seeing Seventyfuhkinseven's progress helps remind me to keep my ideal lifestyle in mind and make improvements toward it.

Reviving this topic only because it took me this long to finally make a push to lose some fucking LBS...in Nov 2023 I was 195 and I've never seen my scale hit 200 so I needed to sort out my shit. Weighted in this AM at a cool 164. If I can somehow get into the 150's I'll be shocked but I'm just going to keep running with what I'm doing and see how low it goes now. I didn't film a part for my 50th so now that I'm headed for 52 in a couple months I guess I'll do it while I'm slim.
Simple strategy for me- haven't had fast food at all since Nov, that's a big one. Bringing grapes, apples (with a jar of peanut butter on my desk), oranges etc to work instead of snacking really helps. I go through a bag of grapes in like 3 days but it keeps me from other stuff. Lowered my dinner intake to a mellow amount and only get dessert on the weekends.
Have done an intense 20-25 min workout every morning since Nov too. 20 min is so easy to squeeze in, I used to look at my cell-phone for like 45 min when I woke up (text threads, DM's, Insta etc). Now I get 15 min then I have to get up and workout, simple as that.
I’ve gained 8 lbs since I started this topic.Fuuuuuck, my Issue 2 weight was around 135 I'm guessing so I'm NEVER seeing that weight again...ha. I'm 5"11.
@rothdigga
Are you back at issue 2 weight?
I always assumed you were near 6 ft. You must be a string bean now.
I gained weight due to a nagging injury that has really limited my skating but I am making a push for the Spring.
What did you eat? I am finding it difficult to find low fat, low sugar meals that are high in protein and fill me up.
Glad to hear you got your weight down. You’re next part should be better than your 45 year old part.

I already had my breakfast dialed before, it's boring but I eat 1 egg and some fruit every day to start out. My lunch I eat a much smaller portion than I used to, sometimes I bring chicken or I'll go get tacos down the street but I just am eating much less of it. Dinner is a meat and a vegetable, rarely starch now. If I keep it mellow like this on my normal days, I can go buck when we go out to dinner or something and kind of eat whatever I want.
But I am about to start filming again, it'll be curb heavy but I should be able to come up with something fun if I find good spots.
I ate a bunch of lentil stew last week and accidentally lost 2 lbs. lentils cook much faster than other beans and don’t require soaking, so they’re a great move for cheap easy high fiber protein sourceExpand QuoteFuuuuuck, my Issue 2 weight was around 135 I'm guessing so I'm NEVER seeing that weight again...ha. Thanks for the brief explanation. I need to be more regimented. I have been eating less meat but I am finding it difficult to replace meat with a protein. I’ve gotten rid of cheese, milk and soda. I also stopped eating cold cereal.
I’m eating oatmeal and sweat potatoes and apples everyday cause I like all three but I have yet to develop a system. I don’t like eggs or chicken. My main problem is too much bread (sandwiches).
If anyone has any good recipes for beans let me know. I could eat black bean soup or baked beans every day.

Look into quinoa recipes and dishes that utilize garbanzo beans (aka chickpeas) to get some good vegan proteins in your diet. Think quinoa fried rice style or vegetable curry with garbanzos, hummus, falafel, lentil walnut burgers with cucumber raita or black bean burgers with pico de gallo & avacado. I used to be a chef for a local health club in my area so I am fairly familiar with healthy yet delicious meals and recipes. Good idea. I do remember liking Pacific Lentil soup.
15 grams of protein is really good. I was eating 20 gram protein bars but they made me feel bloated and still hungry. Soup or stew definitely fills one up better.
Cold cereal was something I gave up in the mid 2000's I think. It's so fucking good though, but of course a bowl of sugary cereal is good right? Now, during our birthday month, my wife and I each get to pick 1 single box of cereal that we like and that person gets to eat it. 1 box a year, that's it. But it satisfies my love of cereal as much as my belly will allow.Expand QuoteFuuuuuck, my Issue 2 weight was around 135 I'm guessing so I'm NEVER seeing that weight again...ha. Realized that the pants I had to cinch in last summer are too tight now, so we're doing this.I weigh myself ever day. There's of course fluxuations in there but if I see a "new low" ever week then I feel truly motivated to keep things going. I have some good old LG t's I can rock now and not feel like I'm wearing a belly shirt as well as a pile of promo pants people have sent me that I never could wear before until now.
Taking long walks on non skate days. Slowly getting to where I can do lunges and squats again with my stupid knees/back.
Stopped drankin. Hopefully my wallet, liver and gut will all thank me.
Bought a scale with a body fat thingy (because every journey in America begins with a purchase :( so I'm trying to go from 19% body fat to 16. (Or below??? Stay tuned, true believers...)
