Apparently two dudes decided at different times to skate across Australia, one guy only did the East Coast of Australia.
The other dude seems to be going for the full monte, from Melbourne to Cairns.
The Australian - who goes by the name Gordy - is now nine weeks into the trip and says he "didn't realise how big Australia was".
Are Aussies bad at geography like Americans?

Good for him, that shit is real ballsy.

The east coast and Melbourne to cairns is the same thing, and neither of them are across
But good on em! That would be gnarly! Hope they make the skatepark in Laos happen!

He'll be embarrassed when someone does it switch
-
It's the same guy. He is named in both articles. Hope the mission works out honestly. Here's the GoFundMe
https://au.gofundme.com/f/skateboarding-for-laos. He's about $5000 off the target.
Looks like Laos might have their first skatepark soon. What a legend.

He better learn how to do a good portion of it switch or else he is going to end up with one leg being jacked while the other is tiny.

While I respect the hustle I couldn't imagine skating long distances day after day. My legs always are killing me if i have along day of skating from spot to spot. hats off to this man

Thanks for catching that...I was confused because one article said his name was Tom...than the BBC said it was Gordy. Thanks for attaching the gofundme too...
This dude is awesome and is getting me pumped! A sick skatepark in Laos would be so dope...Laotians deserve it.
If you don't know, Laos is the most heavily bombed country in the world and bombs that the United States dropped and didn't explode are still killing the population at an alarming rate.

This is pretty funny he said he first did a long skate with mates and they took beers and had one every 5k
That other ride he did says he did 115kms in ten and a half hours
That’s crazy man

Almost made his target. ;D

Better rush through Melbourne before the ban happens

I read some interview with winkowski where he said he would skate like 15-20 miles . there's this bike path where I live that goes like 60 miles and 20 miles of it loops back to my house so I thought I would try that. idk if it was a good idea, it made my front foot go numb after about 90 minutes and my push side hip would freeze up when I was sitting down at work for about a week after. I hope he can afford physio after this absurd quest. maybe its covered in australia
You can get 5 sessions free of charge with a care plan with a doctor's referral. But he might need to run another fundraiser to his hips fixed haha

David Cornthwaite road his Skateboard across Australia back in 2007. He even got a cameo on Aussie soap opera "Home & Away" as himself.
