i think we all do some of the same stuff as "hipsters", but since they dont have a hobby (like skateboarding), being "hip" is their actual hobby. going to the value village for some shitty ass used records or vhs tapes and blogging about it will surely qualify you as a hipster.

I have a old friend (although i bitterly hate the guy, so hes not really much of a friend) who preachers communist propaganda, and loves to make out how well read he his is. he doesn't even own a skateboard , yet claims to be a skater and borrows other peoples spares, and instead of spending any money on a skateboard he chooses to go a spend all his money on shitty albums and overpriced beer at shitty pubs. i would call him a hipster

we use to be such good friends in highschool he had such a raw attitude to everything, he got me into a fare bit of trouble but it was fun. now hes a pussy. anything to do with breaking the law and he will rant for a good hour about how its wrong but then rant an hour latter about how the police system is wrong.... he really fucking shits me.... and hes always trying to hustle us(his friends) for free beer and smokes.
