The video is up on their site!
https://callme917.com/
-
36mins?! Oohhh yeahh
-
Very trendy at the beginning but got better.Lots of smoking and drinking kids. Some absolutely incredible skating (kickflip into brick fs wallride, last trick) though I couldn't tell by whom most of the time as there are no captions.
-
So good. Not sure who everybody was, but for the most part it's divided into full parts. Aidan Mackey's fun to watch, AO killed it. I remember being so underwhelmed by his Pretty Sweet part, not sure if he's just been killing it lately and is in a happier place or something, or Ty managed to ruin his skating or what. Cyrus Bennett shut it down with a pretty lengthy last part.
-
that was a good watch for sure. loose trucks max for mvp. is that woman aidan's mother? pretty sure she's like famous, an actress or something, i've seen her a bunch of times but can't place her right now. anyway, good video
-
Haha Millencolin! I am fucking old as shit.
-
max FUCKING palmer!!!!!! :o
-
Didnt really have any expectations for this video but the level of skating really surprised me. Their team kills it.
-
Downloaded but I will watch it later, there's any footage of Pedro Attenborough in the video?
-
AO killed it
-
That was so rad. Definitely a great pre-skate primer.
-
Sick stuff
Wasn't expecting Alex Olson to skate to rap, but I guess you should expect the unexpected with him. The ollie over to nosegrind stalefish in Chinatown was too good.
edit: It's Nakel Smith rapping. Dope. Maybe he will skate to an Olson house track now.

Max Palmer had last part. And what a part it was. That fucking drainpipe hippy jump, holy shit.
-

Who's the tall guy with the 2nd part skating to Duster?
Max Palmer's section was fucking great, unbelievable flowing style on this guy
Whole soundtrack is on point
-
Fucking great! That backside 180 switch firecracker was one the most original tricks I've seen in ages.
Who was the 3rd guy that skates like Busenitz?
-
wow.
aidan skates to "i saw the light" by todd rundgren
video of the year.
-
Who's the tall guy with the 2nd part skating to Duster?
Max Palmer's section was fucking great, unbelievable flowing style on this guy

Aaron Loreth, @almostamirror on instagram.
this vid met/surpassed all expectations, the wait is over!
-
How did Olson manage to get that many incredibly talented skateboarders to contribute their footage to such a shitty video?
-
i thought that was dope. especially the friends section at the start
-
So neither this or the lakai video had name caps when I most needed them.
So: second part is Aaron Loreth, second to last part is Cyrus Bennett, last is Max Palmer. Right? And who shares a part with AO?
Sick skating btw.

Vincent Touzery.
Kinda surprised no one has mentioned how goddamn good Nik Stain is.

Loved this!
I'm shamelessly into all the trendy shit in skating at the moment, the polar opposite of "hammer" skating.
Also.. Pavement!

soundtrack is not my cup of tea but i still enjoyed it. nice video with a chill vibe. that's good enough for me.
-
was that a gino clip snuck in there? at that manual spot early in the video
-
Blazers hat guy(?) has a little bit of Carroll in him

I'm curious, what tricks (or anything really) did he do here that was so much better than what he did in pretty sweet? Not even being a dick. He had like 7 or 8 tricks that did not nearly display what he's truly capable of and most of them had already been in magazines. I may be wrong, but I feel the praise is essentially due to it being cool to hate ty and equally cool to love polar/isle/magenta/palace/917, etc. I'm a huge quasi and FA fan, so I feel like the vibe of those companies can be pulled off if actually done well, but most shit these days is so trendy and indistinguishable.
-
i didn't know most of the people either :( i knew last boy was max palmer because of ugly hair :( and really great skateboarding
second boy (apparently aaron loreth) is so wonderful
i feel like there weren't too many of the overdone nyc spots here. is that right?
i thought jed anderson was a part of 917. or maybe he was and i didn't recognize him?
instead of smoking or drinking, i wish it was cool to send nice postcards to your mom
-
Had low/no expectations on this, but wow...they nailed it.

Really didn't expect this. Love it!

haha well it certainly hasn't hindered me from eliciting smiles or looks. Luckily it's never been a problem or an insecurity as I have a round shaped head.
Also I can grow a pretty mean beard, so that more than makes up for the loss up top.
Did anyone else get Seth Green "Can't Hardly Wait" vibes from Aidan?
-
Can someone gif that AO ollie-over-the-top Nosegrind tailgrab for me?
or at least tell me how to do it
EDIT: Cyrus is still one of my favorite skaters
-
So stoked this video delivered, had a great time watching it
-
last guy was rad and couple other dudes, but that shit sucked.
-
Pure and refreshing.
It actually feels like a bunch of friends got together to make a video instead of separate, hand picked entities conglomerating to make 40 minute commercial.

Truth spoken.
-
stu is the only crust punk getting nike boxes. ao snapped. i like tall guys in shorts and calf socks it reminds me of extinguished basketball dreams. all these guys have set-building jobs
-
Chris senn + dennis buzenits = nik stain ❤️
-
Alex nailed the vibe so many have companies have been trying so hard to created. I wasn't sure if i was digging it or not and then Aiden's first song started and i was fucking loving it. I'm not even into everything they do(their outfit obsession is kinda annoying) but that's okay cos it really felt like a skate vid i grew up watching.
-
watched it again. the first ten minutes is maybe the best part, then it kinda slows down untill ao and cyrus/max shows up. just my opinion. also real good soundtrack
-

he is a hot little potato
-
stu kirst (?) bailing montage got me real hyped,
whole thing was great,
thought it was nak rapping so ina way that's cool but the song kinda clashed with the rest of the music (<-which was grrreat)
-
Pretty great video though I cannot believe they did Nik Stain dirty like that with such a shitty song--felt cruel. Dude is sooooo good.
You could tell that with that really long manual line he had, that the nollie heel manny down the bank was pulled out of his ass/totally unplanned. He just fucking ripped it. The filmer wasn't expecting/prepared for it and his friends lost their minds. Incredible.
-
Sick to see some of the frog dudes in the beginning. Aidan had a sick part with two good songs. Everyone skated to some good songs, alex song was questionable haha. But video was really sick. Anyone have a name list? Not familiar with all the 917 guys. either way video was good, def got a strobeck filming vibe from it. And that's sick
-
would def take this on dvd. Its sick they gave a free download though.
-
Mango's trick was fucking wild. Aiden has gotten so much sicker since I first saw him in Cherry. The second dude I've never heard of before but had really freakin good style. Nik Stain is also one of those dudes who don't have a large bag of tricks but the way he does them is what matters.
Overall that video was way better than I expected it to be.

carpenter pants are cheap here in NYC, useful at work and last longer then dickies. Ny isn't a cheap place to live especially if you're trying to skate full time.

I assume the pants max palmer wears are the carhartt WIP, which are like $150 a pair. I know he probably gets them for free, but that shit is basically a carhartt work dungaree with a different logo haha.

Great video. AO is incredible. Wished there was some more Logan and Genesis, but I'm just glad the video came out and was sick.

Couldn't help but smile when I heard it. One of my favourite OST.
That was so good. For the love of god, give it the cardboard sleeve with the board treatment.

anybody know the song aaron loreth skated to? real shoegazy sounding song right after aiden's part
edit: it's Echo, Bravo by Duster

What is the first song in the intro?

Friends section in the beginning of videos is probably the most underrated editing option around.

The skating was rad, but the music felt like it was curated by the coolest kids in a youth group. I don't think I'll ever sit through the whole thing again, but picking a part to re-watch every now and then would probably be enjoyable.

Nik Stain has that incredible ability to just stand the perfectly right way on his board, he doesn't have to do anything and it's already amazing. I could watch that guy forever just rolling around.

His Eddie-from-IT vibes and the tall dude skinny guy with the second part were my favorites. After Manuel Schenk of course.
-
that was fucking great.
-
Loved it, loved it, loved it. Max and Cyrus went in! Loved everything from Vincent Touzery, Alex Olson, and Nik Stain, as well, but I wish they came through with a little more footage. Maybe Fat Bill is holding on to more of their footage for whatever the upcoming Supreme video is? Aaron Loreth killed it. Fully backing Aiden now, as well. Also dug most of the soundtrack, particularly Pavement and the Melvins. I'm definitely alone with this, but I think a lot of skateboarding works best with that sort of music.
If this video has a fault, it's that they GX1000ed themselves, in that they released too much footage beforehand that they should have held onto for the final product (Nik Stain's line at Seaport, a bunch of Stu Kirst stuff, etc). That might just be me, though.
Also: I never got the hate on AO's Pretty Sweet part, either
-
not bad, not bad

seconding this. I understand people having a knee jerk reaction to trap music, but this is way better than the "ironic" mumble trap that gets used on every other instagram video. Nakel's lyrics are great and fit the part, the beat is great and atmospheric, and it's probably the best rap song by a skater in a skate video since Baker 3.

fuck yea my g, thank you very much
Thanks! Can't believe how many of these guys I haven't heard about before
lol why is that cannibal holocaust opening theme song so pleasant? I thought it was from some western film that song but jeez not the big CH
also that Nakel song is actually really sick fits the part quite well
it makes a big impact when juxtaposed with the violence in the film. one of the best soundtracks of all time imo

Nik Stain was scary to watch. Fucking unreal.

felt like there shoulda been andrew wilson in this but regardless it's so good

don't know any of these dudes, outside of AO, but i dug it. last two dudes kill.
Last guy's style reminded of Rick Howard's for some reason.

Millencolin
I kinda predicted this trend a while back saying someone would skate to face to face this year, never would have guessed millencolin though
my records back in Australia are gunna be worth $$$ the next time mid 90's skate punk does the rounds again
-
sex change no complyfip and alba's hubba jump were sick!

nik stain tries so hard now, his parts in the bruns videos and totally nector are great but recently he just does manuals on curbs going high speed with his arms flying and all of you can't get enough of it

AARON LORETH (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qce0rc2Jj6M#)

30 away (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iyH20YM84vU&t=#)
-
Alex Olson, Cyrus, Max and that other tall goofy footed dude earlier on were sick... and whoever that is skating with AO. As for the rest -
Remember in the early 90's when people wanted to do new stuff so much that worrying about doing things clean went out the window? And the ridiculous clothing that people who skated back then are glad to forget about? Deja fuckin' Vu. Brings more variety to the table though, so shine on dudes. Thrift stores must be stoked on all the people finally buying up all the ill fitting shit. :)

Yup. The 30 Away part is classic. I've mentioned that before but it bears repeating.
Loved the video, will be on repeat. Only minor gripe is that Olson didn't have a full part but his footage was gold nevertheless. I still trip on how he's only had one solo "actual" video part in his whole career.
-
feel good video of the year. loved it.
-
really crazy this could meet everyone's expectations and provide something that is so true to skateboarding ...testament to the vision the individuals and skaters involved all share (lucky us)
yes millencolin and pavement.
the intro built so much anticipation

I remember this track from Punk o Rama 2. Also, Aiden released that part to a Blink 182 song a while ago. I kinda thought there would be more of that in this video. Imagine Max pulling the curtains to Bro Hymn
-

Think he's on Polar now, possibly using his footage towards something they're putting out.

Not a big fan of punk rock songs and kids trying trick so hard that it looks horrible, but the rest is good.

I took the long way home to let And Out Come the Wolves finish playing. That, Dookie, and Op Ivy were the first groups I ever liked and had the cds of in 5th grade. No idea why east bay punk took such root for me in south Orange County

i watched this shit twice yesterday. it held up both times. the soundtrack is fucking stellar.

wasn't expecting them to deliver on footy or hijinx but they did.
i liked aiden the most. dude can do whatever and ride for pretty much whoever he wants.
i guess alex will never have that definitive part but at this point, i guess it doesn't matter.
the whole video was sick. logan lara (and im guessing jessie alba?) did a good job with editing and picking songs. except for the nakel song (but the intro paired so well with that runway footage)

great video, wish there was more alex olson footy though
cant stand listening to millencolin but the duster song they used for one of the first parts is great

video was so good. had a very homie vibe which you don't get a lot in bigger videos. you can just tell these dudes skate together all the time. soundtrack was killer as well.

It sounded like what got left off of What's Up Matador. A song you like =/= a song to skate to. Didn't ruin the video but I wasn't into it.
-

For a video part that nobody seems to like, including Alex, I would say his fully flared part was super definitive.
-
the songs were mostly good as hell! they were obvs going for the 'feel good' vibe, so in that regard i feel they succeeded with the soundtrack.
-
Absolutely loved it.
Favorite part was kadow's willy grind, and Thailand coming up after, doing the boardslide drop down nose manny. His face when he landed it was genuine stoke.

theres some good stuff in there but he's a lot more skilled now compared to when that came out. it couldve been the dylan. to his time to shine.
-
That was great, I had to pause and see who some skaters were, but the whole video went super well together. Didnt mind the soundtrack at all, hadn't heard that Nak song, so was cool to see AO skate to it.
-
Alright I'll downgrade my previous response of calling it a shitty video. There are shitty songs and bad editing choices (too much "hijinx" in aiden's part for fucking sure). Cyrus's song sucks and that Millencolin song sucks too.
Otherwise, Cyrus kills shit, Alex Olson is incredibly good, and Aaron Loreth does some stuff that I don't even really comprehend. Just not a company I "get" I think... It's all an inside joke I'm not a part of.

There's nothing to get. There's really no discernible image. They all seem like cool guys, but the whole "I skate for fun" thing is pretty played out. This is coming from someone whose two favorite current skaters are grant taylor and Alex, so I have no real reason to hate for no reason. But everything about 917 is vague and minimal

natural talent, one to truly look out for. him and Cyrus are something SERIOUS. hyped to see them both fully on nikeSB
music was garbage, but the above mentioned, AO, Max and Nik Stain make it worth sitting thru.
p.s. Definitive AO for me would have to be clips in the old strobeck edits. i.e. $tud, scooter, ROAM Nyc + Isreal.
some of the best ao footy to date

Isn't Genesis on Humble? I know they're all fun projects and they all hang out but that's probably why.
-
I enjoyed the music in the video. I was watching it with my roommate and tripping out on the choice of using Millencollin and how in the 90's it wasn't uncommon to have that era of "punk" in videos. Fuck, I saw Steve Caballero play base for them at the 2000 warped tour. It doesn't fit today's "mold" but it's skateboarding, fuck a mold.
Also, my roommate produced that track from Nakel for Alex's and Vincent's part and he was too humble to say anything while we were watching it the first time around. Either that, or we were too stoned and I didn't notice him saying anything.

since EEIII, Pavement has been my favorite "skate-band"... so it was so rad to have it on the soundtrack. only an Archers of Loaf track could have topped it.

I love these sort of random, but extremely sharp and well-exposed shots that Logan threw in for different people. This one stands out to me, as does the one of Aidan with Santino piggybacking on him. HPX170 is a fucking cool and powerful machine for making videos

not trying to be a dick, but what excactly made any of those shots sharp or powerfull? can be something i'm missing. i think the video is really good because the skating is really good, but all the lifestyle shots is just wack to me, sometimes borderline cringe induring even. it's either kinda baker influenced hi-jinx shots or it's shots that comes across as feel-good and "we are friends that skate together, really", which is not that difficult to pull off.
i'm also inclined to believe whoever edited the video see them as 'powerfull' though, which is kinda a little bit annoying to me. i guess that's why i bothered replying to this

917's identity is tied up in AO's circle of friends. This video showcased all friends as different type of skate rats. Agree that its not as branded as Palace but find that refereshing that its more about skating than branding. I think 917 just subtly does things differently. This was aFriends video put out by a team.

Not bad. Best parts were Aaron Lorith and the last part Max Palmer. Alex Olson's opinion on sh*t was pretty relevant at one point but those days are over. I'm happy for him he did his thing and the video came out good. Nice.

I've seen that Max Palmer guy pop up in NY edits over the years and always thought he was Bryce Golder. Remember him? He came in hot along with Gunes Ozdogan back in the Habitat International days. I'd vaguely wonder how he had disappeared and then got in with that NY crowd, but never enough to look into it. Similar skating (and balding) style but still, way off.

such a good song. for some reason I kept thinking it was bruce Springsteen.
-
Yeah, I got the Springsteen vibe too. All about that saxophone.
I really like the music choices. And I've watched this video 4-5 times already. It speaks to how important a soundtrack is to a skate video's replay value and how much it can accentuate the vibe of the video/skater. Yet it seems like an afterthought in so many new videos.

Probably my current favorite video of all time. Never really thought I'd say that about a new skate video, but man, this is so good. Assuming Logan Lara edited it, amazing job.

glad im not the only one haha, I kept googling the lyrics trying to figure out if it was bruce, and then this thread popped up with the actual song title and I was completely taken off guard haha. the same band did the intro song to the anti hero destination unknown video. didn't expect that either.
-
Rewatching this, it's still a great watch.
Aiden's part makes me wonder if he skates with the FA dudes anymore. There's a hell of a lot of footage in his part with him and his mates fooling around, but none of the FA dudes are in his part at all. There was a close up on his face in King Puppy and he was in the out-takes of Pussy Gangster but I don't think he's had a trick in a Strobeck video since Sickness, 2 and a half years ago. Also his roof gap at 9:36 is probably more stylish than anything Jaws has ever done.
The millencolin doesn't annoy me as much as the placement. I think it would have been fine closer to Aidan's Samiam song but after the emerica tone of the Duster song in Aaron Loreth's part it's weird to go straight into cheesy pop punk. But really more than anything that Pavement track got to me. I've never understood why they're so highly regarded, I think they're rotten.
Vincent Touzery I didn't really notice the first time I watched, but he's actually got sick footage in this. His line at 22:16 is grimy as fuck. And Nak-el isn't the worst rapper either.
Max Palmer is a treasure.
-
Took me a month to watch this but considering Duster is my favorite band, I'm more than satisfied
-
watched this video more times than i'd like to admit. it's pretty much a perfect skate video imo, the pacing and the soundtrack works so well, it's the kind of video that gets better with each watch.
