Checked out Francis Ford copopa's new movie Tetro on friday, only opened in few cities so far, independent budget, no ads etc. I thought it was amazing, few scenes were kinda whateves but for the most part great story, great shots/filming, black and white, and Vincent Gallo kills it.
My girl had never seen Brown Bunny, so we rented that the next night and first time i watched it(2year or so ago) was super bored and think Frwd to the Chloe Servigney blowjob scene, but this second time watching it. I apperciated it alot more, super slow movie, but meant to be that painfully awkard indie type shit. Was pretty good second time around, if your a fan of buffalo 66, worth renting for sure. Read few things online today, and guess he hired fired wionna ryder and kristen dunst for the roll in brown bunny, wonder if they would have deep throated him for the sake of art?
i'm glad to see that someone else on the SLAP boards has an affinity for work of Mr. Gallo.
Brown Bunny is fucking amazing and the majority of people that dislike it hate it because they built it up in their heads to be the worst movie ever (thanks to the many, but not at all unanimous, lukewarm reviews it received upon it's initial release) without actually having SEEN it yet. The less you know about the film or the director's reputation beforehand, the higher the possibility you'll have of enjoying it. Gallo sure does push a lot of buttons.
I gotta see Tetro soon. The trailer for it reminded me a lot of RUMBLE FISH - another great gem from Coppola.
speaking of which:
if you haven't seen it yet, see it NOW. It contains probably one of the best scores ever composed for a motion picture. Not to mention the cinematography is drop dead gorgeous.
