Indy Stage 4 truck
« on: February 03, 2023, 04:14:30 PM »
Anyone under 40 give a shit about his coming back?

What happened to ride the best, fuck the rest.. this feels like someone's salty that Ace took their design and made it better.

I love indie, cut the bushings and take out the washers and you get the best turn out of any truck.

Oh shit… and here, I’ve just been riding Aces to get that same feel: I knew I was blowing it somehow.

I generally think it's a cool idea to bring back old stuff, so it's sick for nostalgia and collectors for sure.

But as a regular product, I wouldn't look at it if I need new trucks. Aren't they just higher aces with worse kingpin clearance?

It'll be sick for old school & slappy setups, just for the old guy vibes.

I think most 40+ skater would be more stoked with a stage vii rerelease tbh

How much do you cut down on the bushing? I’ve been doing half way and I love it.

If you’re fat over 40 and have minimum skills on a skateboard you’ll probably be buying these. If you’re old and still kinda good you’re probably riding aces. If you’re young you’re probably on thunders. If you’re a fresh type you’re probably riding ventures.

The above assessments are largely correct.

I could loose a few pounds and I am closer to 50 than 40. I can do a few skateboard tricks. I mostly ride Ace. I sometimes ride Thunder (151 only). Will I try the Stage 4 re-issues? I want to say hell no, but I know myself to Goodman well and unfortunately it will be hard for me to walk out of any skate shop that has a pair of these in a 151. I'm a fucking mug. Will it improve my silly middle age quality of life? Probably not.

Anodized Stage 5 without axle slip would be my choice.

What is the difference? I also remember my first set of Indy's ~2000 slipped axles really bad. What stage would those have been?

Do you remember if they had two triangle-ish holes in the middle of the baseplate? If yes stage 9 if no probably stage 8

I didn‘t ride Indys back in the day (G&S, Tracker, Orion, and other atrocities come to mind), so I have no nostalgia attached to my Indys, plus I just started a set of 144 forged hollows I am quite happy with.
why come?

just skate no to bushing and washers and all trucks are good ir skate really tight trucks so turning doesn't matter.

Didn't realize they were already hitting the shelves (Feb. 18th) in 4 sizes: 136. 146. 151 & 166.
I'm already getting my credit card warmed up.
For those interested, please buy from your local.
For those w/ no local, here's some scraps of info from the manu.

I'd timestamp the parts where he skates the Stage 4s but you should just watch the entire thing anyways.

Probably more clips of it on his Instagram, same with Chico Brenes.

Classic UWTB getting salty over a product that isn't replacing the mainline stuff and is trying to help skateshops by making it skateshop exclusive until summer.

I’m under 40, ride aces and will be buying a set of these

It’s fun, and they could skate great and are worth a shot

Is it true that you can use the inverted baseplate with the new stage 4?

I an that old that I rode stage 4 back in the days.
Don’t believe the produce the real one - just similarl form. The OG one where heavier then trucks today - but Unbreakable. You can grind them down to the axle ne still skate them for 2 years.
Different alloy / material mix then you get today.

I don't think so. I just got a pair to test out. They have a totally different bushing and baseplate to a Stage 11, so you can't swap bushings or baseplates to a stage 11 is what someone at Indy told me. I'm pretty hyped on how they look, will give feedback once I skate em.
