The Beginnings of a New Species
« on: April 05, 2024, 06:03:23 PM »
This is just for the dreamers out there…

I’ve got a theory that people on the autistic spectrum are the beginnings of a new species.

Yes they are strange, and YES they wear weird pants, but they seem to have consistently obtained mastery over new technology before us regular folk even know it exists. 🤷‍♂️

Any trip to a fast-food restaurant in the western hemisphere will assuage your fears that humanity might conquer that which it created…. what we have is nearly wall-to-wall electronic screens with small pieces of animal fat in between…

So what might we do?  Well, first, I think we should be aware that we live in interesting times.  There’s a non-zero chance that we become enslaved by machines we created.  Sort of a body outside a body?

Or, were the sun to glint one way rather than another, we’d just be back picking berries in the woodline until time ran out?

Well indirectly, yes I suppose.

It’s sort of a convoluted supply chain.

If Autism didn't exist we'd still be cavemen. Isaac Newton? Nicola Tesla? I bet Einstein was on the spectrum too.

I don't think flat ground skateboarding would have evolved past ice skating freestyle if it wasn't for Autism. If Rodney hadn't done it, it would have been someone else on the spectrum.

I hope our Autistic brethren stay apart of our species because we'd be fucked without them

I think it's just evolution, not a new species

But let’s suppose you had an original thought in your head, what would you say?

There seems to be a sweet spot on the spectrum for autistics where they can concentrate on one persuit and create on the highest level (Albert Einstein). However, if the individual is overly autistic it will negatively impact their ability to convey their thoughts (Rainman for instance).

I think we can look at highly functioning autistics as human super computers. However, allowing these individuals to run society would be like unleashing AI. Both need oversight.

I'm not convinced I've ever had an original thought. I like to think so sometimes, but it usually ends up being Cryptomnesia

Haha, I think that all the time.  I’m pretty sure I haven’t either.

So do you guys feel any sort of manmade technological horror strangling your soul?

I wish I could explain it better.

Like I bet in real life we’d all be way nicer to each other

I've had a new human species theory bouncing around my head for a while...

There's a lot of info out there about microplastics in our food.  What if it gets to the point where it starts to affect our DNA and shit?  And these foreign/artificial chemicals change the general physiology/biology/whatever of the human race.

I introduce, homopolymer.

I used to inject psychedelics and and interact with a lot of new foreign species, but in reality I was just inducing psychosis. But anyhoo the ones that stood out to me were the crab people, they were the guards that guarded the gates, once you got beyond the gates you were introduced to different levels of beings with more and more power and godlyness every level you were aloud to pass. But those crab people were cool, they let you in if you give them a little humor.
