Think I’ve posted this one already, but changed the wheels/trucks ect.

Scram Fink
Ace 66 w/ DLK
Powell Bomber Pool Formula (Found these in storage from 7+ years ago)
Reds

Set this up specifically for the local pool that just got built and have been looking for wheels that aren’t like ice on the new concrete, and these bombers are a game changer. Dream setup for sure.

And yes, I know those wheel wells are terrible but they’re working

Lookin' mighty fine.. How hard is it to put in those DLK into the Ace's?

Way easier than Indy! The metal on the plate is softer so only one or two hits will get it out. Then JB Weld.

I wish someone would make a big ol' uncut deck.  11 inches wide, 33 long so we could cut our own big boys.  Would rule.

Setting up some 215s, bones medium are my 169 choice for bushings but should I go hard for wider trucks?

Welcome Seahorse on Golem Deck 9.25 x 32.6 WB: 14.5"
Independent 159s 8.75" Trucks, raw silver, stock bushings, medium loose
Spitfire Classics Toxic Shrooms 55mm 99duro Wheels, orange/blue swirl
Mob grip, Spit bearings, generic hardware
Black Powell rails, Black 1/8" Indy risers
Does this Golem shape have a mellow tail like some websites claim? I'm starting to miss a more mellow kick vs. the kinda steep one on my Green Giant.

I am really thinking about getting the new Lucero Boards...

I only ride 9.75+ boards, but most of the boards jsut are too short for me. I need atleast 32...

I have been riding the Fixer Pig Tanks mainly, and theyre amazing, literally the best board I've ever skated, but pretty expensive to get in europe...

Just unusual. I am not a wood specialist, especially not with laminates but I know oak as potentially heavier than maple, less likely to fluctuate with moisture, so maybe not getting soggy or warped as easily. I would just like to see how it performs compared to the maple.

Edit: does anyone know more about the polyvinyl resin they use compared to epoxy? Isn’t that just glue?

First time posting, recently been lurkin hard. Just started skating again at 29 years old, last time was probably 14 and I never really learned any tricks. basically a total beginner, but been following skateboarding forever and pumped to get back on it!

Wondering what any taller guys find as a comfortable wheelbase, I'm doing a lot of experimenting because I'm 6'7" (legs aren't crazy long for that height, but long).
I'm currently riding a Black Label Lucero 9.25 cruiser (15ish WB) with Thunder 151's and OJ super juice 60mm. I get that the big wheels will make a difference too. and a Polar Dane shape (14.125 WB I believe, and new Venture 6.1 and 58mm spitfire.
I'm honestly still working on slappies a little and trying to dial in an Ollie, with lots of just cruising and pushing on both boards.
[close]

Go with what feels comfortable. With your height, wheelbase will make a difference. I'm 6'1 and I ride a Lucero 9.25 with 15 wb. I also have a 10 inch I like a lot. The wide boards aren't great for flip tricks, but they're great to ride, especially for big bros.

Thanks man, I've got black label Lucero, 9.25 and 15.5 wb I think, set it up for cruising and it's been a blast. You find around 15 to be a sweet spot? i've been trying to test out different wb's but I still really don't do much other then cruise so not sure how will feel for any tricks.

Street Plant 'Super Blake'

Size: 9.5" x 32"
Wheelbase: 14.625" or 15.375"  **Double Drilled**
Nose: 6" / 5.625"
Tail: 6.25"/ 6.75"
Bolded is how I've set it up

Indy 159 Hollows (8.75" synchs up with the boards taper) - Stock bushings/pivots for now
MOB
54mm 101a OJII Elite Dressen Hardlines (been dying to trying this shape/duro/thane combo) - plus the 'street razors' the graphic is based off of were my wheels of choice back then
Zealous Bearings
Superior 7/8" Bolts

How do you find the concave on this board?

yeah i was thinking about these too...i just finished with the Lance Mountain rat trap, and that was awesome, but it was 32.25...i think 31.25 might be too short for me too...but that wheelbase of 14.5 is so tempting!

welcome me to the club fellow pals!
and thanks for all the advice, I thought the 13.85 wheelbase might be a tad short with the films on there but I skated out the front of my house yesterday and despite it having brand new trucks/ non-broken in bushings and smaller wheels than I'm used to, it felt really comfortable!

That couch is sexy, the tail looks just like the love seats I ride, which is going to be so much fun for you. Btw if you dont like the films, maybe try Venture 6.1s if you get a chance. I put some back on mine, and this time around I love them. My fliptricks went to shit with them but thats probably because Im old and frail.

. Cheers, I’m going to roll with the films for the meantime, I’ve spent too much on skate shit lately and the ventures would probably mess with my pop. Films feel close enough to Aces for me I think so it’s not like when I transitioned to thunder and lost all semblance of pop!
I’m old too so I’m not that concerned about the few flips tricks I have left...
Looking forward to slappy-ing into some tail slides on that tail tho!

Hmm polyvinyl acetate is white glue/wood glue... Polyvinyl resin is usually used to talk about polyvinyl chloride (pvc) which is a plastic / not a bonding agent. Probably they're just gluing up with pva... Also very curious about how an oak board would be. Definitely would sound / pop different but I can't see a reason why it would sog out or spring back from the press any quicker than maple given the same layup.

all these girl decks have given me serious GAS for a girl deck.

I gonna buying a Krooked Chico 9" deck today, but I've added the Girl Love Seat to the shopping cart too.

what are thoughts on trucks for the Girl deck? I ride Indy's and thinking i need thunders to stretch out the wheelbase a bit, but i don't want to make the deck too steep, my old legs cant handle it.

Going with a little wider of a truck makes up for a loss of wheelbase to me. Not too much when flipping but a lot in stability and turn, which is more important to me and harder to adjust imo.

So stepping up the width can stabilize the deck without shortening nose or tail (which the thunders would do)

where are you getting Chico's board this late in the game? I've still got one in my cupboard but it seems like such a waste to skate (the opposite is also true though). I thought the chocolate shape would feel way too cramped on films but it isn't that bad really. there's quite a bit of flat from the bolts to where the tail starts to curve up so if that's something that bothers you, maybe thunders would work better?

in australia...for some reason not many of those Chico decks made it out here, but also none have sold either. I'm pretty sure if i like it, there will be more in stock to get another one.

Wow, swoop on them! The only downside of Chico’s board really is the length, I’m surprised he likes them that long. I had his chocolate board though and it was a lot of fun so it’s only me nitpicking

man, the length was the selling point for me...under 32 i find really short. My current deck is a grimple stix 9.1, and 31.8 long and it feels super short. but i'll see once i have it set up

Threw some new Aces on the 1991. Not wild about the graphic but such a fun shape. Just been skating curbs and flat so far, stoked for the park to open back up to skate some transition on it.

55 and conical full (size?)
The 14.5 wb with aces probably nice
