Not sure about 7.75 with a 14.25 wheelbase but DGK makes the above deck in 7.75 x 31.5 with a 14.5 wheelbase. Why anyone would put a 14.5 wheelbase on a 31.5 length board is beyond me; this deck was at my local shop and I measured it and everything and it really did have a 14.5 wheelbase. Almost wanted to buy it just to see how it would skate but decided against it at the last second. Those dimensions just have “frustrating session” written all over it. Here’s the skatewarehouse link to the board with the dimensions outlined just for reference:

Saw Kevin B’s (skates for dc/dgk, not sure how to spell name) story and he had this set up and was popping the shit out of tricks. I’m actually really interested to try something like this, test a theory: I maybe only need 14” wb when the board is bigger than I should maybe ride.
I’ve got so many old, dusty, not dead yet boards tho. Just need to suffer thru the stack
[close]

I had always assumed that 14.5 was a typo lol. What’s the nose and tail then? Must be tiny. I’ve had the most fun recently on a 8.25x32x14.5 and I’ve ridden 8.0 decks with >14.25 WB (I.e. Real decks) with some success, so I wouldn’t mind trying this 7.75x14.5 haha.
[close]

Nose is around 6.6 and tail is around 6.2. I was also eyeballing this deck as I like narrow decks (7.875-8.06) with longer wheelbases.
I like a heftier feeling tail because it gives your tail a more solid pop feeling but those dimensions just sound too hefty to me hah. That plus ventures just has ghost pop written all over it.

Yeah sounds kinda crazy but who knows might be fun. Was thinking Ace 03s might be kinda cool on them although I’ve never tried those trucks. I’ve skated a 8.38 palace (14.5 WB I think) with thunder 149s and was still able to get some decent pop and flip my board around so maybe the DGK won’t be so bad with ventures.

I actually just setup an old Baker 7.875 I had set aside for my fiancé with venture lows and had a blast today at the park and definitely want to size down again but having a wider WB would help with stability.

Kevin Bilyeu! I wouldn't draw too many conclusions on how gear skates from someone who looks like this skating in winter boots:

And this made me wanna watch his Sabotage 5 part again and whoever has the time should too.

Any leads on a decent 7.875? I always skated a 7.875 better than an 8 or a 7.75.

I know this is slightly larger but anyone ridden a polar 8? Would pair with 139 forged hollows.

For those that have sized down from 8.25 and up, how does it feel? Since I lost a bit of strength/fitness due to COVID i've been feeling a bit sluggish on my 8.25 even with 147 hollow lights. Considering a smaller set up now.

It is like a cheat code for fliptricks bud. With 7.75 with 5.0 Ventures I fought over flipping or flipping faster than my old ass could keep up with. So I moved up to a 7.9 with solid Thunder 147s. I have only done still sticks in my back room but it is exactly what I was looking for. So basically a skinny board with 8" trucks is where its at for me.

I think DGK does. There is occasionally a Krooked or anti hero 7.9 x 31.25. Julien used to have that model, they were good.

I so rarely see any DLX boards under 8", even the 8"s are 8.06
Will be keeping a look out for those most def
DGK would be cool also

do you guys cruise around on these things, or just session a spot and learn tricks? I've tried riding my homies 7.5 and just don't get it. I got some skinny board ventures from a free pile and might throw together a complete so I can learn 3 flips, but they just don't make sense to me
Well-defined ambiguity, I'm already on somebody's list as a casualty

I have multiple sized setups, but since my best skating was all done on sub 8 decks back in the day, it all feels comfortable to me.
3 flips on a small set up are the best, shit is fast and precise.

My best years were definitely on 7.5. 7.625 and 7.75. If it ain't broke,  don't fix it.

Don't be sorry bud, I'm ok with my  7-3/4" of flaccid cock. I would hate to have anything more.

I'm stuck in 99 and can't move up to an 8.  I prefer the Crail GO21 7.875 shape. Their new shape guide is informative and visually pleasing.

Yep, that tail was the shit. My only complaint is that those boards seemed to chip pretty fast but the shapes were the jam
