I totally forgot about the Pacquards!  Wish I had gotten those when I had the chance.  I also liked the sole on the AV3s which was kind of in-between the classic Vans vulc and the Adidas Gazelle skate model sole.  I wish they had used that on more models.

EDIT: Here are some Pacquards on eBay.

Been wearing and skating my burgundy samba ADVs the last two days. At first I wasn't sure but they  feel very supportive and the flick feels really good.

I've been thinking about doing the same, or at least skate the lowtop ones. I actually never owned a pair of stans, but they really cool when skated (Paul Shier, I'm looking at you).

I've skated the 'regular' Stan Smith pretty heavily. The sole is surprisingly grippy but the leather burns pretty quick at the toe. Heel lock is amazing. I'm going to skate the vulc model at some point.

Art - great review on the AA slip! Nice work.

Well my State Keys came in the mail today, put them on and they were totally broken in. Only other shoe I've had that's been broken in out of the box were the es square ones I had back in 2011. The insole is great and although I can't really test them much in the way of skating at the moment because of my injury, I stood on my board for a minute today and the boardfeel was amazing. I could feel the board very well and felt I was in control but at the same time they didn't feel too thin and were quite supportive.

has anyone had a chance to wear the new reynolds G6? curious about how they run and if they feel bulky, last emericas i had were the herman vulcs in a 10, think that will be a good size in the reynolds?

do NOT get the "skate" version of the Stan Smith. They are extremely thin and uncomfortable even as a day to day walking shoe.

I ended up with a couple pair of State shoes, one pair of the Mercer and one of the Elgin. For those wondering, my foot is average width and they fit true to size for me. Insoles are decent but I've been skating them with Lunar ones just for the familiarity of how they feel. Soles are nice and grippy and had no issue skating in them almost immediately. I hate one thing about the Mercer though, and it's the same reason I never get Half-Cabs, the lace that goes with the metal eyelet (the highest that isn't on the midtop part of the shoe), rips almost instanteously. Other than that, they feel good and solid, have good heel lock, nice toe shape, etc.

I'm 3rd'ing this just for the sake of Adidas possible seeing this triple quote.
Stan Smith Vulc is a garbage shoe. The fit does not resemble anything relatively close to a human foot. I personally didn't have issues with toe blisters, but I could definitely feel it starting to happen before I banished them from my life.
It actually made me think of how Nester Judkins felt filming that Stan Smith commercial, and I don't understand how Diego Najera skates them at all.

At least when you're a washed-out hipster douchebag in NY, you can milk it at some decent looking, hard to skate spots. In LA you're just a tan-lined faggot in a school yard somewhere.

i have never even skated the stan smith vulcs, but every person who has ever laid eyes on them seems to hate them, and the one time i met a dude skating them, he got angry when i asked if they were any good, and told me to stay far away. fuck stan smith vulcs.

I'd like to say that putting the State insole in other shoes makes a world of difference. I put it in my Vans Old Skool on top of the stock insole and it feels fucking great (I've been using the Huf Choice stock insole for the past year)

not to quote myself or anything but I think Roisto pretty much summed it up below:

Expand Quote
Both are size 11, which is what I normally wear and I don't think I could comfortably fit a size bigger or smaller in either.
[close]
describes the sizing pretty perfectly. I take a 10 in vans and while the 10 in states almost feels like a 10.5 lengthwise it certainly doesn't in the width hence I couldn't do a 10.5, nor a 9.5. I guess we'll see what they're like once they're broken in...

Diamond it is. Skate company, nice design, comfortable and Boo gave me some puffs of the blunt at Lincoln. So...

There are apparently two versions? This one feels super soft and loose. More like a slipper than a shoe. Super gushy.
