Someone should have told him it's the "People I've Known" column, not "People I Brushed Up Against In Los Angeles While Leeching Off My Actually Talented Friends." I know the bar is low, but I still can't believe Thrasher published this garbage.

I can't tell if Neckface is that famous or he's lying. Either way, I never felt that his artwork was that good; actually I have never thought any skateboarders' art was good lol

I mentioned this before, but I have a friend who was teaching at SVA when he was attending. I can't remember any specifics (this was like 2003), and this was before he was known in skating, but I can still remember said friend and all his other faculty members talking about what a piece of shit this guy was

Certainly this piece in Thrasher doesn't run counter to that

He is awful, but seems, several years after the fact, to have inspired this “things kids who are into metal doodle on their notebooks” that Lotties and Baker seems to be really into at the moment.

All that's missing is a story where he claims Metallica asked him to play bass for a show, but declined by telling James Hetfield that Metallica sucks.

idk he talks like a Mexican stereotype. Other than the stories of his mischief he doesn't seem like he is a bad person. I will concede that he does seem full of himself but LA does that to people. He seems like a normal person that used to be into mischief when he was younger. That's kinda it seems that people are being hyperbolic.

Some insufferable highlights for those who lost interest.

On Matt Groening: "Matt shook my hand again and then gave me praise like he was bowing down to me. Real recognize real, man."

Talking about himself?: "When Neck first came out, everybody wanted him to do a board. I said “Hell no!” to everybody."

Chappelle: "I actually met him and he told me to “Keep up the good shit.”

Kirsten Dunst?: "I end up at an after party at Mary-Kate Olsen’s house. Yeah, it was one of those nights"

Stevie Wonder: "I yell, “Later, Stevie!” and he looked around in all directions and said, “Bye, Neck!” He recognized my voice."

Banksy: "He came up to me and said he liked my shit. I was already going out every night painting and he said he wanted to come with me. He wrote his number on a piece of paper and told me to call him. Later that night I got to my hotel, grabbed the paper and threw it in the trash before heading out solo once again. Sorry, dog. Neck rides alone."

Derek Riggs: “ I was at a convention and Derek Riggs called me over. “Hey, Neck, I really dig your work,” he said and signed some shit for me.”
AKA "I was stood in line at a convention, they call 'NEXT' and Derek Riggs signs my merch"

This guy either keeps it so real that he makes Matt Groening & Banksy look like begs or he's the worst dude at any party. Keep up the good stories Neck!

Ughh that was the worst. He turned literally every story back onto himself and how awesome/loved/famous he is.

Before reading this I've always felt pretty impartial about him but straight up- fuck neckface. What a gimp

LOL dear lord that was good

Like, I read that as if it were Tim Heidecker playing the character Tim Heidecker - as if Neckface was playing Neckface as a deadpan

But he definitely wasn't

And everybody has nailed it with the quotes and zingers

This dude's burnt , hahahaha

Edit:

Among everything being equally worthy of a roast, the fucking Stevie Wonder story is insane. Dude is blind - people with visual impairments have enhanced audial sensory you fucking loser - no shit he recognized your voice; he relies on sounds for navigating the world you fucking goon LOL

I met Neck at Comic-Con last year. Was shocked as hell he had a booth but I was probably more shocked when I saw Louie the year prior trying to sell My Little Pony Enjoi boards. At any rate, he was cool and hyped to see some other skaters amidst all of the neckbeards (I had my board on me). I bought a print off him.

That being said, those little excerpts were corny af. He didn’t ‘know’ most of those people. And they definitely weren’t his ‘fans’ like he claimed.

Then up comes Banksy and he’s all like “hey aren’t you that dude” and I’m like yeah, whatever!

I'm not wasting a second reading his bs, but its good to hear he fell for the classic English painter joke of "yeah I'm Banksy" ha ha . Neckface definitely kooked himself again by everyones summary.

Important caveat - everyone referring to their own nickname in the 3rd is a kook.

It’s gotta be obvious he gave himself that nickname, right?
