Skated the plaza a couple times now... the local dudes rip.

It is a little weird trying to recover from my injuries last fall and feeling a bit awkward on my board, but still super fun. And, most of the dudes seem pretty cool. No one is insanely overly friendly but I haven't seen too many dudes that are just "too cool" to be polite.

Nice. I might head down there tomorrow in the day. It's been fairly mild.

Nice. If I can finish my work and get out of the house, I might see you there.

"Who cares? There are people starving to death! Besides, how does that affect you? Does it lessen the joy of parking?

I got sidetracked today running around to get supplies to build a skate box - but I'll keep tabs on this thread and I'm sure we'll get a skate in eventually. Got a few more days of sun coming it looks like.

I kinda think the plaza gets a bad rap.....its not that bad...most people are actually cool if you talk them...

I built two boxes this past year, one of 'em got stolen but it's been a super fun process. What dimensions are you going for?

Not sure if there was another Vancouver, BC thread so bumping this up. I'll be staying for a night near the airport. Just looking to skate some spots and eat some good food if anyone has any recommendations for vegetarian restaurants and bars. I will have a car so don't mind driving a little if I have to. So far on my spots list I plan on checking out the Plaza and UBC skatepark. Also how crusty are the streets there? Will worn down classics be ok or should I step up to a chunkier wheel?

You should check Courts > plaza and UBC.
Also go visit Anti Social and skate Mount Pleasant (small but fun park). Then check Menu skateshop and go look at Black Ice famous double set downtown.

If you’re staying near the airport in Richmond: Thompson community centre weird plaza park, and the Richmond oval : low ledge spot, for the true Ben D experience.  UBC is easy to hit my car and has some street spots.  Plaza, T-fox, curbs by the arena is all close to skytrain.  If you are getting in a car: north/west van=ambleside and Mahon.  Other suburbs=surrey : cloverdale, guilford and chuck Bailey.

Veg eats: vegan shoku, to live for bakery, virtuous pie: near plaza.  Budgies burritos by antisocial.  I’ll think of more..
