This whole paying tribute to the past that eS is doing is so tired. It’s cool to do that for a little bit, but it’s time to do something new, be creative.
Fine, I'll bite. It's because there
is a market for them.
Skateboarding isn't just for kids anymore, there's a massive amount of active skaters in their late 30s/early 40s.
You don't hear from them much because most aren't active on social media or posting on forums, but they're there, trust me. We frequently go to the park at off-peak hours so we don't have to deal with the kids. But we're here.
For us older skaters, a lot of the "cool" new popular shoes are
A - Still just rehashes of shit from the past
B - Not what we're into
A lot of us older vets prefer the slightly bulkier, cupsole shoes of the past. It's what we came up with and what we prefer.
Most the Nikes or Last Resort or whatever shoes that the kids are fawning over are just extremely generic send-ups of old ass Nike, Keds, and Airwalks from decades ago anyways, so I don't see where this supposed creativity is coming from.
