bought the game star renegades during steam summer sale. it's pretty good, but it has no story at all. typical modern roguelite in terms of progression, meaning you get slightly stronger with each run due to having better starting options and a bigger pool of better items you can possibly get in the next. but the biggest problem with this and other games of this kind is that they expect you to put in run after run after run, and it just gets tiresome, especially with the combat in this game, which is sometimes excellent, and sometimes super dull. it works like an old jrpg with a timeline, you got your menu of actions to take and you can manipulate the timeline and when enemies strike or even disrupt their attacks. it's interesting in the beginning and seems like a deep combat system, but some classes are rather useless until later and the most interesting fights are the ones that are more chaotic and clutch.
i managed to beat the game while actually trying to die out of boredom and frustration at the last boss, which has a comical amount of second comings that make the fight more of a chore. i still somehow beat him, and since then i feel like i can't be bothered playing again. took me about 15 hours and i payed about 15 quid, i'd say not too bad of a value for the money, but they could have done more with this game. would probably rate it a decent 6 or light 7 out of 10.
