It was creative like 5 or 6 years ago when the japanese guys from Far East Network started it (trick and filming wise),
(this is 5 years old, and much more creative and more artistic)

yes, definitely borrowing heavy from the Japanese vids. ? I'm not entirely decided on whether Magenta's version is as "honest" as the guys out (far) east, but it is fun to watch. ? the Japanese videos (particularly Night Prowler) are great for the same reason City of Rats is great...local guys ripping local spots in ways only the spots allow. ? now, it's not fair to detract from Magenta just because they're not "locals", but it did give off more of a touristy vibe than their SF series of vids.

now, any of this is only worth typing because of the nitpicky debate going on...all that aside, Magenta = rad. ? the vid = rad. ? go about your business. yadda yadda yadda.

Just watched the whole video again and I want to say that it's one of my favorite edit of all time. Leo's part is so fucking incredible, (It was very inovative and so well done) and I noticed it was filmed in 11 days, after finally reading the description (!?!)
To me that is GAME CHANGING!

About what has been said here, I think It's pathetic to see skaters come here and complain about the fact that a video doesn't look like what they're use to see everyday (in other 1000 daily webclips). I think the industry really formated people's brains about how skateboarding should look (a sport with rules) in order to sell it to the masses; making them forget about all other aspects of it.

Big L, Jeru, KRS One, and Guru should be barred from skate videos for the next few years.  I love all their music, but still.

Generator is in Vista California, USA. Which is why on Magenta's catalogs it says "Made in USA" etc. etc.

The beginning half was edited like an opening and the stuff that came thereafter was pretty good.

Nothing really stood out except that metal pothole ollie. It all meshed together nicely.

More "real" hiphop, but it lends itself well to the vibe of magenta.

Im glad that it was short because toward the end some of the tricks started getting a tad repetitive.

Good cuts everywhere. The tight editing really made the video.

super stoked to see a small French brand make waves like that!
plus I've been riding a Magenta lately and I really like it.
The funny thing is how much street cred that board gave me the last time I walked into a skate shop haha.....my old ass felt all current and shit.
next I'm probably gonna try those one foot powerslides (when it finally stops snowing!!)

false.

there's always has and always will be "fun" in skateboarding.  why else would anyone do it?  the whole comparing Magenta to Japanese skating thing was just brought up because the far east guys have been doing that style of trick/editing/spot selection for a while now and it's fun to see Magenta pick up on it and move it forward while currently in the spotlight.

AYO I HAVE ABOUT 8 TABS OPEN FOR REPLY, FUCK IT

I generally fuck with magenta, i dug every edit they brought out.

They represent a nice approach to skating and sw bs 5050ieng some small ledges in some narrow alleys accompanied by some ollies and powerslides at some decent speed, shits tight as fuck.

this shit shows they can if they want to, but dont fuck with flip in flip out shit on some big ass handrails, robotic style.

but this edit was mad corny!
there were some serious tricks innit, but overall i just remember some pops 'off the grid' type shit + powerslides while mongo pushing.

and don't get me wrong, i'm not begging for sw flip noseblunt courthouse drop or anything like that...

Lannon can ollie bump to bars and fire hydrants over and over and still make it look like the raddest thing every time.  Only two clips though...and Zach Lyons clocking in with zero.
Full Jimmy Lannon part in Static IV would be incredible.

on one hand leo is one of the most pretentious skaters around on the other hand he s got a great style... anyways at least he and Magenta provoke opinions, thats more than you can say about most skaters and companies out there...
