Depends on the format and the contest series

but usually the points are given on this basis:

Trick selection / difficulty
Style / flow
Usage of complete course
also not doing the same run over and over helps

personality, clothing choices, politeness, overall body hygiene.

also if we?re talking about local contests: how good you know the judges.

The kid with the hottest Mom always wins. This is a practice that you should definitely stick to.

This thread as a whole does a pretty good job of summing up an answer to your question.

Why a contest? Just start judging random skaters at your leisure.

Considering the people that win contests sometimes I doubt style is that important.

We run a few local comps. Everyone just starts on 100 points and then we just deduct for shit we don't like. Some dudes end up on negative, even days before the comp starts.

The ONLY 3 ways to judge a comp are how tecnical was it? How big was it? How consistent was it? Everything else is gay surfing.

I've heard of a point system where you get 1 point for a basic trick, 2 for something a little more gnar and 3 for hammers. Do a little math at the end of their runa nd you've got a score.

And whoever said the x-games is about amplitude I actually laughed to myself at my computer
