Can't really relate to the arm rest sedanists in here (SHBAT hoes), but the oldies are goodies too (pre-Taco, but same shit).

Didn't know that Jordan Barratt is actually sponsored by Toyota. Talk about dream work.

04 ext cab

Daily work truck and slept in it plenty.  It’s the only pickup I’ve ever owned, but I can’t imagine a better vehicle.  Also, it really helped butch up my image with guys I work with :-*

It just hit 100k. I bought it off the original owner who barely used it and was letting it rot away in storage. Tis the truck I wanted as a yut, color and patina and all. A proud moment in scrounging history.

This was the dope in between years in the US where they were just called Toyota Pickups. The Hilux ran pre-'77 in the US, then became Pickups afterwards. Elsewhere they were kept branded as Hilux. Tacomas came in around '96 I believe.

Finally the Slap x TacomaWorld crossover.

I’m on my second Tacoma. First one was a 97 that had 275,000 miles on it. Now have a 2013. Very reliable and I know I’ll have it a long time. I don’t use the bed every day, but like to take it camping and exploring. And it has been indispensable working on house projects. Gas mileage isn’t great, but I ride my bike a lot to help counter that. They have earned their reputation.

I’m gonna say no on Subaru’s being reliable. In the past year I have spent a small fortune on my wife’s 2014 Forester.

It cost $1000 to replace the rear struts because they had to remove the backseat to get to them.

Another $1000 to replace both control arms in the front cause at 60 mph the car felt like it was falling apart.

Also, replaced a front axel and a wheel bearing.

Oh, now we are waiting on a windshield wiper motor because the one we have is failing. That’s another $700.

We are talking about $2,500 in repairs that I have never had to make in any vehicle I have ever owned.

SHBAT—Should Have Bought a Tacoma

On a 2014 you’re probably pushing 100,000 miles? Those are reasonable maintenance items for that age. All of those are wear parts. Rear struts have had a long life at that point and a wheel bearing is bound to happen. I’d guess the CV boot tore on your axle. That happens. Control arms should last longer, but the rest is reasonable. It’s like replacing brakes or tires. Some parts wear down after a while.
